Hello,
There is a new version of Win4K3Suite available, version 2.002.  For those
of you who know the software, going to version 2 doesn't necessarily mean
major changes since the software has been around for 6+ years and has had
dozens of enhancements. This version though is worthy of the version 2
designation. 
Win4K3Suite now has user customizable Skins, that can change the look and
feel of Win4K3.  Be sure to check out the pre-defined skins or create your
own.  Here is an example:

This version also now requires .NET 4.6 or higher.  This will be
automatically installed by Windows if it does not exist.  If you computer
asks to be rebooted, accept and then when it restarted, run the installation

There is a new release of Win4K3Suite.  Version 1.948 includes a number of
enhancements to the Spectrum scopes pertaining to peak detection resulting
in continuous display down sampling instead of the discrete steps in the
past.  This new release will also display the SWR after the first transmit.
(Note this is not currently available for SSB modes).

features.  One of these is bound to bring you back in time...Win4K3Suite now 
includes the ability to search and display Shortwave radio stations if you have 
the general coverage option in your radio.  This is made possible by supporting

The Win4k3Suite is the best rig control software I have found.


If your on a MAC, switch to a PC so you can use it.


Not only can I use it with HRD logs, i can connect to the CAT control on WSJT 
to the virtual com ports provided by the Win4K3Suite and keep both open.   I 
have my SDR Play connected to the software as well and WOW that makes for the 
coolest pan adapter on a PC.   I really need a second monitor to watch the 
whole waterfall while operating at my desk.   I don't do that often but during 
the RTTY round up it would have been nice...


I run almost everything remote and the few issues I did have in the beginning 
Tom helped me fix via email support and team viewer when I was too dumb to 
follow the directions exactly.


I recently preordered the Flex radio and I am going to miss the ease of use the 
Win4KSuite gives...  I am guessing I won't be able to get Tom to interface with 
the Flex-6400..But my Elecraft has no plans to leave either...


Anyways.. Endorsement over... go buy it!

There is a new release of Win4K3Suite.  New in this release are 2 additional 
software and hardware virtual ports as well as the ability to tag the ports so 
that you can document which port does what.  Please check out the release notes 
to see the new features.

One of the useful features of Win4K3Suite is that it interfaces to all 3rd 
party logging and digital mode programs such as HRDLogbook, DX Keeper, NAP3, 
N3FJP, N1MM+, FLDigi, MIXW as well as hardware devices such as the K3/0, the 
Pig Knob and various antenna tuners and amps.  In order to understand how to do

There is a new release of Win4K3Suite supporting the KPA1500 now available.  
Many thanks to Dick Dievendorff at Elecraft for helping out.
Win4K3Suite is a full featured radio control program supporting the K3, K3S, 
KX3, and KX2 as well as all of the amplifiers and tuners.  It has built in 
support for the P3 with a video capture board as well as providing a Panadapter 
using  LPPAN or the SDRSPlay RSP.
Win4K3Suite has rock solid virtual radios built in allowing sharing the radio 
comport with any other software as well as hardware devices such as the StepIR. 
 It supports HRD, N1MM+ (Spectrum too!) and any other package.

The latest release of Win4K3Suite now supports N1MM+ Contest Logger’s Spectral 
display.  This enhancements broadcasts spectral data from Win4K3Suite to the 
spectrum display window in N1MM+ allowing identification of signals that you

Awesome!!!  Thanks, Tom!  It just keeps getting better and better!

Note...  Once you open the drop-down and a value is highlighted, you can
use the arrow keys to go up and down the list while listening instead of
futzing with the mouse each change... 

Right Click on NR, Left click on displayed value, then arrow up or down
one click per setting choice...

Also finally started using the TX EQ presets  For some reason, my
radio frequently loses my standard setting: 
(-16,-16,-16,-12,0,0,+3,+3)  Now that it's in a preset, it'll only take
one click to restore it!

Since I now have a KX2, but not a KX3, a nice Wind Camp (red) heat sink
specifically made for the KX3 is extra.
It is very well made with a counter sunk mounting holes and bare surface for
the two output transistors.
It has never been installed, so it is officially brand new.
The machining quality is excellent.

Tom, double checked and I'm feeding the SteppIR SDA100 off the K3s RS232
data out port... On the K3s you have the USB serial interface and when you
are in the USB mode the K3s still has a read only output on the RS323
port.  So in the case of the SDA100 and my K3s, I'm not using a com0com
pair to share the CAT feed.  I also have a K3 that only has the RS232 I/O
and when I was using it, I had a com0com pair setup to share the output to
the SteppIR in a readonly mode as configured in Win4K3Suite.

At the end of the day right now, it's so easy to get 4 full CAT feeds setup
if required.  I can have N1MM++ going along with DXLab Commander and the
full feed to my SPE 2K-FA.  Its nice to know I can add more gadgets as
needed to get the K3s CAT feed.  I have been tempted to ask you if there
would be potential to add additional port sharing... bump up from 4 ports
to 6 etc... maybe we can take that off the Elecraft list.

There is a new release of Win4K3Suite.  This version allows a user to assign 
different message files to a particular mode for the CW, PSK and FSK terminal.  
Changing modes will automatically load the correct file.  Please see the

In addition, control of the KPA500 has been moved to a different thread in the 
software with the result that information such as power output, SWR, etc is now 
provided in near real time.
In case you are not aware, Win4K3Suite is a comprehensive control program for 
the Elecraft K3, K3S, KX3 and KX2.  It supports all hardware such as the 
KPA500, and KAT500 even on the KX2.
Win4K3Suite has built in panadapter support for the P3, LPPAN and the SDRPlay

There is a new release of Win4K3Suite.  This release offers a bug fix that 
showed up using DXLab Commander when you switched from a band that did not use 
the sub-receiver to one that does.  There was an excessive delay.  In the 
process, additional performance enhancements were made to the third party 
virtual radios in Win4K3Suite.
One of the useful features of Win4K3Suite is that it interfaces to all 3rd 
party logging and digital mode programs such as HRDLogbook, DX Keeper, NAP3, 
N3FJP, N1MM+, FLDigi, MIXW as well as hardware devices such as the K3/0, the 
Pig Knob and various antenna tuners.  In order to understand how to do this,

There is a new release of Win4K3Suite.
This release now supports direct logging into N3FJP's Amateur Contact Log and 
Contest logs for the Win4K3's terminal mode.  The terminal mode provides CW, 
FSK-D and PSK-D communications using the built in keyer and decoding 
capabilities of the K3/S, KX3 and KX2.  There is full message support as well.

The latest release of Win4K3Suite now provides full integration of the KAT500 
and / or the KPA500 with the Elecraft KX3 / KXPA100.
The integration passes band and frequency information from the KX3 to the 
KAT500 and KPA500 allowing seamless recalls of previous tuning parameters.  You 
can toggle the display of the KXPA100 with the KPA500 as needed.  In addition, 
there is now a visible indication of faults in the KAT500 and KPA500 allowing 
you to reset them remotely if you wish.  You will effectively be able to use 
the combination as if you had the full K-Line.  This feature will require the 
latest beta KAT500 release (1.75 or later).

Hi
There were a couple of people that pointed out that for the elecraft 
terminal window, it would be more appropriate to have the function keys F1 
to F12 correspond to the messages 1 to 10 instead of macros.

So, I uploaded a new version 1.792

What we now have, is when you are in the terminal  (it has focus) F1 to F10 
correspond to the messages you define in the terminal. (Message 1-10).
In all other windows the F1 to F10 keys will send a macro as defined in the 
Tools Settings.


Also, I have added the ability to quickly edit a message.  Now when you 
right click a message button and select edit, a small window will show up 
with only that message.  You can change it quickly at this point.  Much 
faster.

Only my personal views of course. I've used both since their each started and 
have the paid-for versions of them (the free HRD is not the same as the 
paid-for version). 

4K3 can read/write the KX3 memories and their internal little labels. HRD can't 
control the KX3 memories directly, BUT it does have its own internal 
"favourites" (with longer labels and a hierarchical structure) which may be 
used to set the Tx/Rx frequencies, which I find more useful. If 4K3 implemented 
such functionality I probably wouldn't use HRD at all.  

Both applications are complex (easy to understand if you've grown up with them 
but far too many options at first sight if you haven't) but 4K3 is less so. 
Probably HRD is more complex because it is more general purpose and supports 
far more radios. It includes modules to do far more than 4K3 including digital 
modes, more logging options, rotator controls, satellite tracking etc.

Both have "manuals" that explain the menus - which is not the same as 
explaining how to use the applications to perform specific tasks - obviously 
written by the developers not by users. Both could do with a "how to ..." 
manual. 

Both work fine under Windows 10 and are regularly updated to add new 
functionality. Because 4K3 is more rig specific, the updates seem more useful, 
updates to HRD seem recently to be concentrating on more peripheral functions.

Just my personal opinion with experience of both

There is not much difference between the paid version and the latest free 
version of HRD,

Both compliment each other and work together - W4K3 works with HRD, so I would 
go with 
the latest free version of HRD and ALSO the W4K3. They do overlap on some 
functions,
where they can do the same thing. IMHO the W4K3 is excellent for the PanaFall 
display of
the band, and is also excellent for getting to menu functions quickly, and 
everything you
need is one mouse click on the display. HRD is good for it’s logging program, 
digital modes
rotor control, cluster - point and click on a DX spot and instant QSY etc etc

They both talk to each other so it would be best to get both, but to save on 
costs get the free
version of HRD.

Long time user of HRD and after the growing pains of new owners it has
settled down and for me, the major kinks have been ironed out.
I do however, use both HRD and Win4K3.
I don't run the HRD main program, but allow Win4K3 to launch and control
DM780, HRDlog, WSJT-X and JT-AlertX.
They all play well together and I can keep using my HRD Logbook which holds
+45 years of QSOs.
I prefer the rig management features of Win4K3 for my K3, but drop back to
the main HRD program if using my Ten-Tec Omni VII

I am using the last free version available - it is perfect for my needs: 
RIG CONTROL. The rest of the stuff is all fluff to me - unused.


I run both my K3 and TS480 from the screen by chasing the mouse. There 
are a couple of buttons that do not indicate as they should, and I would 
buy the new version if I thought the problem had been corrected.


I asked HRD support and they said to buy it and I would be happy - never 
did directly answer my three or four simple questions. I did not buy it. 
I have asked a couple of other times about the button issues and never 
received a real answer.


I would buy the new HRD immediately IF the button issues have been 
corrected. If not - I'll stay with the free.


Digital? Very simple - I use Airlink on my 480. Super easy - turn on the 
SignaLink, start Airlink, and make contacts (25 Watts). To go back to 
SSB - just turn the SignaLink off and pick up the mic (PTT) for 100 Watts.


Got carried away - sorry.

Hi,
You can define the function keys F1 to F8 to be any macro for the radio that 
you wish.  Macros can contain any combination of K3, KPA500, KAT500 and P3 
commands.

I suggest DXLabs suite instead, its *free*, great support (the only one 
that comes close to Elecraft in support, maybe even better) and does a 
great job of interfacing with my K3, with great dxcc and other award 
tracking.

Great job with the new release for Win4K3 Suite 1.790!

I just tested my function key macros I used in N1MM+ to control key
commands.  Now, no matter which Win4K3 Suite window is in control, I can
use all the same Function Keys.

There is a recent update of the Elecraft programming manual.  Anyone
interested in doing macros should refer to that.

I tested:

- Sending text for CW and RTTY
- Activating the memory buttons of the K3
- Activating A>B, Split, UP 2 for working spit once I QSYed from to a
search and pounce via the  spectrum display.
- Tuning the rig

I found a bug in the Elecraft PC command.  I sent the DEV group the issue,
I can not get it to change the power to 50w or 100w.  I verified via the
Elecraft K3 tool.

I also like the Winkeyer interface.  It provides fastest response for
sending CW command using the DVR memories or the KY command.  There is no
latency with the K1EL winkeyer.

I also tested entering log entries into my HRD log.  All is good.

I also want to thank Tom for the new release;  I just upgraded to  64 bit Win7, 
and all sorts of mischief ensued.  Tom helped sort out driver problems with 
Com0Com, and with the new Win4K3 I'm back remoting my station.   Great support

Hello,
Just a note that there is a new release of Win4K3Suite out there.  Release 
1.778 has a couple of bug fixes where some text colors were not correct in the 
Frequency Memory display for a small subset of users.  This has been fixed and 
while I was at it, Scanning as supported by the K3, K3S and KX3 added. This 
release also supports the old pre-XP Windows Classic theme since there seem to 
be many people still using it.
In addition, this release now has preliminary support for 4K monitors with the 
Panadapter.  This allows up to 3840 x 2180 resolution for the panadapter.  This 
works quite well, but the downsampling has not yet been optimized. The next 
release will offer this.  It is quite a sight to see a 4K panadapter spanning 
192 kHz on a 40 inch 4K display!
Just a note about support of third party products:  Win4K3Suite has a built in 
router allowing third party products to connect to the radio simultaneously 
with the radio control capabilities.  HRD, DXLabs, Logger32, WriteLog, N1MM+, 
FLDIGI, and any other package out there is supported seamlessly.

Hello,
There is a new release of Win4K3Suite, version 1.770. This release provides the 
ability to assign labels to the radio equalizer buttons as well as several 
internal optimizations.
For those of you who are currently using other radio control software such as 
HRD or DXLabs, Win4K3 interfaces to the logbooks and digital mode software of 
these third party packages using a built in CAT router.  It allows you to 
continue to use logging, spotting, digital modes with your favorite software 
while providing vastly improved radio control.
The radio control features of Win4K3 are comprehensive, right down to changing 
Tech Mode menu items.  It is also possible to export the radio settings to an 
XML file which can be loaded into Microsoft Excel.
The feature list is far to large to list here, but Win4K3Suite allows control 
of the P3 with SVGA (and a hardware video capture board), LPPAN, the KPA500, 
KAT500 and numberous third party hardware and software packages such as HRD, 
DXLabs, N1MM, CWSkimmer (with VFOA to VFOB mapping).

Win4K3Suite is also now confirmed to operate with RemoteRig.  In addition, the 
Epiphan USB VGA capture board has been confirmed to work with the P3 – SVGA on 
a MacBook running VMWare.

The latest release of Win4K3Suite (v1.748) now supports Band Stack Registers. 
By default, the K3 and KX3 will return to the last frequency and mode on a 
particular band when you change to that band.  Band stack registers will allow 
you to save the frequency and mode for an additional three frequency / mode 
pairs.  
This latest release has some enhancements to support third party applications, 
particularly WSJT-X.
Win4K3Suite is a comprehensive control program for the Elecraft K3 and KX3, 
supporting all options such as the P3, KPA500, KAT500, and KXPA100.  It 
includes a full featured software Panadapter. It also interfaces seamlessly to

Hello,
There is a new release of Win4K3Suite available at va2fsq.com
New in this release are usability enhancements in both the P3 Panadapter and 
the KX3 / K3 spectrum scope with LPPAN.
For the K3, mouse wheel support is now added to the P3 Panadapter window.  In 
addition, the mouse wheel support now allows storage of separate settings for 
voice and digital modes. There is also a new Snap function which allows QSY's 
to even 100 Hz boundaries.

The K3 / KX3 spectrumscope now has 10 user definable macro buttons.  These 
macros can hold any combination of K3 / KX3, KPA500, P3 and KAT500 commands.

Fixes: The error on 6m with the K3 / KX3 panadapter has been fixed.

Win4K3Suite is the most comprehensive control program available for the 
complete K line as well as the KX3.  It provides control of the radio, the P3, 
LPPAN and interfaces to many third party products.  Contest proven, you really

HelloThe latest release of Win4K3 Suite now includes the ability to have cc 
cluster spots displayed on the spectrum scope. It is possible to display only 
the spots, or also who the spotter is. Clicking on the spot or double clicking 
in the waterfall will QSY to the frequency. Spots are presented by color 
according to your ClubLog filter for New, Verified, Confirmed or Worked band 
entities. The system used is simple, and not overwhelming even in contest 
situations.
This release also includes direct logging from the CW - FSK-D - PSK terminal to 
either an ADIF file, directly to DXLabs DXKeeper, or HRDLogbook. This makes it 
convenient to use the Elecraft radio's built in decoding for CW, FSK-D and PSK.

In this release there are a number of enhancements to the CW - FSK-D – PSK 
terminal.  The AutoSpot, Words/Minute and an Auto WPM were added.  The 
automatic setting of WPM will work when using CW-Skimmer as a cluster.  
The ClubLog spotting module now allows selection of a custom cluster.
The Spectrum scope now has a peak hold function and corrections made to support 
older LP-PAN units and users with 5 pole filters.
Win4K3Suite is a comprehensive control program supporting the Elecraft K3, 
KPA500, and KAT500 as well as the KX3 and KXPA100.  It includes a spectrum

Hello,There is a new release of Win4K3Suite available.
This release has a number of enhancements and fixes especially in the 
Panadapter software.
Release 1.684 now correctly recognizes the IF shift that occurs when Weaver 
demodulation is in effect in the KX3. In addition it allows setting of an upper 
passband of 2.4 and 2.9kHz. It also recognizes and allows changes to the 8kHz 
offset.
Win4K3Suite is a comprehensive control application for the complete K-Line, 
including the K3, KPA500, KAT500 and the P3 via webcam or hardware capture 
board. It also supports LP-Pan for the K3. Win4K3Suite also supports the KX3, 
KXPA100 and includes a software Panadapter. Win4K3Suite inter-operates with 
almost all third party digital, logging and contesting software including Ham 
Radio Deluxe, DXLabs, N1MM, and many more.

Hi Everyone,


The latest release of Win4K3Suite now has integrated Club Log spotting 
functionality.


If you currently have a Club Log account, Win4K3Suite will allow you full point 
and click QSY to spots that are filtered by your Club Log profile. In addition, 
if you use the KX3 Spectrum scope or the LP-Pan version with the K3 you will 
have spots showing on the waterfall as you move your mouse over a signal.


This new release also has improved tuning, allowing changing of individual 
digits in the VFO A and B displays. In addition, right clicking on VFO B allows 
you to quickly set VFO B up or down 1,3,5,or 10 kHz.


Win4K3Suite is a full featured control program for the Elecraft K3 and KX3 and 
supports the KPA500, KXPA100, KAT500 and P3 in a well integrated application. 
It offers full support for many third party logging programs as well as the 
MicroHam router.
