RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Data validation.xls

2012-09-28 Thread Mohammed Muneer
Hi Muneer,

The formula will get the result, unless and until the criteria's are
matching. The main purpose of implementing the data validation is to
restrict the user from entering any kind of data. In this case the user
is allowed to select only the items which is present in the drop down.
But the drop down data is having lot of duplicated data and which is not
the fair way.

Any how, formula will work fine without the need of data validation,
when the the criteria's are matching.

Hope that helps!

Dear Friend

Excel Learner,

Except the month col, the other like Description (in separate place in
the col itself - as I have the repeated items in Description col, Sweet,
Sewage, Garbage, Potable & Bottles) column if I apply data validation.

Finally I come to the decision I will put halt to this problem, by
keeping the - Month col data validated, Description col data validated &
Cost Code col by calling vlookup formula that will result into
automation with Description (means Description if gets active, then cost
code also be active).

Very very thanks for u r reply..

RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Word Wrap in Excel.....

2012-08-15 Thread Mohammed Muneer
Dear Paul,

Your solution is good to some extent, but the thing is I don't want to
use the merge or any option that is default in excel.

I need a vba coding to control the text flow unto the page break only,
when one line is finish it should go to the another line.

Ur example for merge and make the text to flow in a defined region is
itself a good example, what I am trying to explain in the worksheet.

Anyway I have done the major part of my work still part of it left
undone, this I will complete it within two days.

U know along with the line to line flow I need to justify the text
written.

Regards,

Muneer,

CC...

I think part of the problem is that you're not using the proper
terminology and are not describing your issue accurately.

In addition, your examples do not demonstrate the problem.

After spending WAY too much time trying to figure out what you're trying
to do,

I think I finally see your problem

First of all.. "Word Wrap" is the ability for a SINGLE PARAGRAPH to

"wrap" to an additional line within the same CELL when the

sentence exceeds the with of the CELL.

So... "Word Wrap" is a property assigned to a CELL or a group of MERGED
CELLS.

Not to a group of cells in different rows.

(Unless, of course, you merge the rows, then it treats it as a single
cell)

So.. in column E, rows 11-15 you have:

E11: To be held accountable for the construction of their work packages
and tasks and ensure their
E12: participation in implementing proper control for the
completion of their scope of work within
E13: budget and schedule. Each task controller and each work package
supervisor is accountable
E14: for his participation in cost control process in his area of work.
This leads to more awareness,
E15: economical working methods, and timely corrective actions.

Excel doesn't have any way of knowing that the contents of the
successive

rows are part of the same "paragraph".

Excel, by default, does not "break" a single row into two pages.

So, the first thing you need to do is to put your entire paragraph into
one cell.

that means, you need to "merge" the cells in columns E-K

(or E-L, if you're going to the edge)

I would do this for all rows so that you can easily fill out future
documents.

Next.. Excel doesn't auto-fit row heights for merged cells.

(which is unfortunate, it would make my life SO much easier)

To get around that, what I've done is create another cell (off to the
right)

that is the same width as the combined cells you've merged.

then, use the formula: =E# (i.e. =E11)

to display the contents in this cell.

You'll need to make sure the font size in this cell is the same as
you're using

in the document cells.

You can hide this column so that it doesn't confuse people.

This will cause the row height to adjust to the contents of the
paragraph you insert.

hopefully, the file I've attached will come across and show you what I
mean.

Paul

RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Please help (Word Wrap in Excel).....

2012-08-14 Thread Mohammed Muneer
I want word wrap option to be active in excel - its effect should be
like this.

Condition 1 : the word / font train should not cross the page break
line.

Condition 2 : on the completion of one line the font should adjust the
line previous and jump to the another cell or row to continue doing the
next line.

If your work fulfill this two conditions then it will be a great help to
me to carry on my further work because I have lots of data to be written
in excel following to the WBS (Work Break Down System)

Note: See the attached file word wrap 1. ( I want to share an example
also with u)

Help me: please share the answered attachment in 2003 format as my
system doesn't have dual operating system.

Muneer,

Ya, but it doesn't zoom to the margin, and fit all the four sides.

Muneer,

I see you already have it fit to page when printed -

Do you mean you want to have the table forced into the shape of the page
to completely fill the page?

If so, I think you will need a macro, and it could be a bit tricky.

You currently have a macro adjusting the margins in the
Worksheet.SelectionChange event -- that will slow your worksheet down --
there is no need to reset the margins every time the cursor moves. It
should be enough to just set them once in the Page Setup dialog, but if
you want to reset them with a macro, use Worksheet.Activate or
Workbook.BeforePrint (in Workbook.BeforePrint you might check if the
worksheet is in ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets to determine if it is one
being printed -- if needed -- it should be reliable in most cases).

To resize the table, I would use the Page Setup oftion to Fit to 1 Page
TALL, and leave the Fit to pages wide blank. This will only scale the
table automatically to fit based on length, and take up as many pages
wide as required. Then in your macro adjust the column widths to makke
it fit on the one page. I am not experienced with this, so I will leave
the details for you or others, unless I find the time to experiment with
it.

Subject: RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Pivot multisheet how to use? for what
purpose?

It's a pre posted solution

Ok..

Its an add-ins which can take input from multiple worksheets within a
workbook .. when you will press shift+ctrl+P a dialogue box will open to
take input ranges you can add multiple range (All range should have same
format and no column should have blank heading) , then create pivot
table .. it will create pivot after consolidate that data .

Methodology is while you add Range it copy that range
and add in a temp sheets and when you create pivot table it create and
delete that temp file.. [you can not refresh the pivot again]

Regards

Rajan.

RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ conditinal formatting - based on date col.....(plz help)

2012-03-08 Thread Mohammed Muneer
Mr. Sam yes I understand u, at first some of the top rows I copy the
badge nos with the fill handle.

The badge nos changed like :

1

105427

5-Oct-11

salnap

1

2

105428

5-Oct-11

trachisa

6

In the Sr. no 2 the badge no should be 105427 only, same like the first
one.

I did not check it before sorry.

But the logic is clear to u I think so.

Hello Mohammed,

Not without using VBA.

Several people have asked similar questions recently. It is possible to
do this using VBA macros, but I would suggest using the CTRL-; keyboard
shortcut to enter the current date instead.

A simple formula using DATE() will not work because it will be
recalculated frequently, and will use the current date each day.

For your solution, you could use a Worksheet_Change event like this:

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

Dim rng As Range, cell As Range

' SUPPLY DATE FOR COLUMN A WHEN "Y" ENTERED IN COLUMN B.

' Identify changed cells in column B.

Set rng = Application.Intersect(Me.Range("B:B"), Target)

' if cells were identified...

If Not rng Is Nothing Then

For Each cell In rng

If UCase(cell.Value2) = "Y" Then

' disable events to avoid another worksheet_change event

Application.EnableEvents = False

cell.Value2 = Empty

Application.EnableEvents = True

cell.Offset(, -1).Value = Date

End If

Next cell

End If

End Sub

Dear Friends have a nice day,

I have a small question.

For example, I have two cols A and B as shown below one is for date &
the other have letter "Y".

A B

28-feb-2012 Y

Can I do it like this? If I input letter "Y" in the column B I can
display the current date.

Hi

You need to make the names of the macros in the call routine the same
as the name in the Tools/Macro list. That is Fill1, Fill2 etc and not
Macro1, Macro2 etc

How to make use of this (Command Button & Text Box), as I want to insert
the values in no's for identification of the employee.

note: my explanation here add some more information for u r convenience
what I mean is - the values entered in text box should reach the the
"Col A everyrow" one by one irrespective of the ascending order, when we
click/enter the update button and the cursor by default should always
keep blinking in the text box itself as and when we finish one of the
entry.

its something I consider it as magic for me, but some one from u will
definitely will help me to solve this!

$$Excel-Macros$$ How to make use of this (Command Button & Text Box), as I want to insert the values in no's for identification of the employee.....

2012-01-21 Thread Mohammed Muneer
How to make use of this (Command Button & Text Box), as I want to insert
the values in no's for identification of the employee.

note: my explanation here add some more information for u r convenience
what I mean is - the values entered in text box should reach the the
"Col A everyrow" one by one irrespective of the ascending order, when we
click/enter the update button and the cursor by default should always
keep blinking in the text box itself as and when we finish one of the
entry.

its something I consider it as magic for me, but some one from u will
definitely will help me to solve this!

Regards,
Muneer,

How can I avoid this lengthy process and do it in short!!

Finally I have to do again some manual work in the 'col G'.

Plz, help me to come out from this problem.
