As narcissistic as I am -- tons -- as alluring that performing on the stage and having all that attention might be, I never could get past knowing that folks I really disliked might be in the audience. What? Some bastard what done me wrong gets to pay a few bucks and now I'm some organ grinder's monkey gotta do a trick? What? Really try to write something that can possibly be as funny and wise as anything Curtis writes only to have it open to the most cruel commentary by the minds of these culture crushing trolls here? Sorry, for me, it's a hump I cannot easily over top. The rats here make it so hard to want to shine like no one's looking. Rick's Party should have all these free-types cavorting around here and trying out their wings, but n, we get all dressed up in our tutus and there's Willy the War Monger pepper-spraying anyone who's even tapping a toe to the music. You'd think that a movement that's been culturing its adherents for 50 years would have discovered -- by dint of just messing around long enough -- how to village-raise their own to be civil in their dealings with those who have not drunk their look into the white lighting Kool-Aid. Sit with a saint. Lose your dome badge. Be an open lover of killing anyone who isn't white, and WELCOME TO THE DOME. Maharishi was a racist of the first order, right? Clever him, he got the slaves to volunteer for his plantation work. What was I thinking? I mean, right there in the first lecture, the guy giving it was obviously not a golden child striding the world and solving problems everywhere. Vaj, I haven't seen the film. But, yeah, the brainwashing at MSAE was there, but not extra-there. It was about the same as any other parochial school with an agenda to push besides reading, writing and arithmetic. Maharishi, Pope, same deal. Feste, You forgot to list my son's winning of the Iowa State Golf championship, and the golf team's championship win the next year. Don't think for a moment that MSAE's great results, and I admit, they're great are from them being meditators. The mundane explanation is better: when we were told to come to FF to save the world from nuclear war, who came? Only those who were already successful enough in real life to have the money to take the risk of moving to FF. The population in FF is heavily skewed thereby and of course the children of those folks would be expected to be smarter, healthier, better home life, etc. My son's golf success came from him practicing far more than any other person in the state. For HOURS he'd stand in one spot and just do his moves in very slow motion. He golfed in the snow, in the dark, in the rain. He put in the time, he paid the dues, but the other kids from the other schools' golf teams out there had their highly motivated kids also who gave my son a strong challengeand they didn't have any magic mantras helping their golf game. The Universal Spirit insists it is to be considered a mere and horribly limited individual. As if. That Mother Divinesuch a kidder and always wanting to throw another masquerade ball. I think that if certain FFL folks have a right to get all upset and make rules about the level of abusiveness that's allowed here, then those someones better explain the logic used to determine that a crass sexual-blurb put-down is far more serious, as an issue, than that of a war-monger openly espousing the murder of most of the world's people. Oh, geeze, someone was told to suck a cock, and it came off as homophobic and so un-PC. Can't have homophobia here at FFL, cuz we'z gots us a good guy moderator who's gay, and it wouldn't do to upset him what with his hard-wired sensibilities. And I would agree, but... But, whoa, I'm here with MY hard-wired sensibilities. See? I have this utter revulsion for even the concept genocide. And yet, Rick is just fine letting someone espouse this kind of evil here. Don't I get to be upset and make rules against anyone harming my peace of mind? Don't I get to complain about my heart being constantly be tasered by the hatred that we see brandished so often here? It's not censorship that's wanted by me, but instead I want a pleasant place where there's lots of pleasant conversations with pleasant people. To allow such an obvious troll with such a bitter racist hatred to come here and piss on everyone every day in every way possible that his psychosis can come up with is an issue that Rick has not addressed. What? A homosexual slur's triggering of negativity in someone's nervous system is some sort of extra specialsooperdooper really bad emotion to have to process, but my emotional disgust is small potatoes, and I don't feel as deeply as others do?
