Sebastian

2005-06-29 Thread JENNIFER RATLIFF

A began to see a slight weakness in Sebastian's legs at the beginning of May. I took him to the vet for his regular Depo injections and the vet (the first vet) noticed that he had lost 1 pound and his coat was thinning. We then decided not to do the depo and check his blood work. the blood work was good, so we decided not to do any depo at that time. After this his legs gradually got worse. Now it is hard for him to walk and jump. A few weeks ago I decided to resume the depo because he had done so well on it and after we stopped is when he began to get worse. He is also getting a B 12 shot every week. I think that it may have helped. I had the vet give a low dose of 10mg. Before he was getting 20mg and 40mg. He is gaining some of his weight back, but his legs are still so weak. I have read alot about V B-12
methylcobalamin, but everything I found had to do with diabetic cats. Should I try this anyone because he is not diabetic? Could it hurt him?

www.healthypets.com

Has the feliways cheap and 2.95 for shipping as much as you want
and over $100something is free.

I use them and like their service all and all they have the best
prices when you add the shipping in so far that I found!

I would use the plug ins but after cleaning use the spray too! Spray
works better in my house.

As for your sofa, my x brought in a used sofa in great shape well
until then never had a pee problem with cats, I think the past owner
had a cat and the cat's smell was on the sofa so I battled the pee
on the sofa. I found 2 things that worked well.

One I bought Get Serious (sold Foster smith) and in Petsmarts.
You put it in the micro and heat then spray and dap and dry. I used
a blow dryer cos I was in a rush. Also Foster and Smith sells Cat
Detgerrent I swear by this stuff. If you can wash you can get the
smell out with this stuff. Soak the area then put in wash with more
CD and the smell is gone. I had a bedspread that became a
marking zone and I did this and it stopped the war. Last month the
one cat go excited (happy) and wet the bed spread soaked the spot
washed and fine and dandy.

I also like giving the cats Rock Water, Emergency, Chestnut Budd
and Cherry Blossom Flower essences. Emergency is like Rescue
but it worked 100% in my house for a cat that had mental problems
in spraying. (not over night did the trick for her)

You can get all of these at:

http://www.blackkatherbs.com/

Sandi the owner is great and can help you with any mixes and
make mixes for your cats She helped solve a aggressive problem
in my house with cats nosodes she made for me. We still have
some issues but s much better.

I have a question, as you may know, I rescue cats (most of are strays) with special needs – I fund everything with my income right now and it’s getting very difficult – as I try to give them the quality food, quality care.
I have a what’s called a “refuge” permit from the animal services in the city – and I was told by the officer and by other people that I should get a non-profit status (501C) – I know what it is – but what would be the down side of getting such a status? I know you can get donations and tax break and all that – but I wanted to consider some of the disadvantage by getting it -

Hi. We just became incorporated and filed for non profit status. The incorporation cost $600.00. The filing fee for the 501c-3 (non profit status) is $500.00, in New York State anyway. Since we started this cat rescue group and are operating on very limited funds this set us back quite a bit. We are not well known yet so we aren't getting much in donations. I thought these fees were unreasonable for a charatible organization. We found an accountant sympathetic to our cause or it would have cost us even more. He filled out the 501c-3 form for nothing. The form is quite complicated - for me, anyway - and we needed to have it filled out by someone who knew what he was doing.

Yes, I did. Willie was very fractious at the vet's and he was fine with me. Plus we were going into a holiday weekend. So the vet let me take him home with the port and iv fluids. However, after 1 or 2 days he started having seizures and I had to take him to be pts at the emergency vet.

Do you give him CoQ10? It helps with gum problems. I give it to my
positives every morning mixed in baby food with other supplements. Has the
depo helped with it a lot?

I would really take Sebastian to a board-certified internist about his
problems. I really would think all these symptoms could in fact come from being
on depo for so long, but from what you say it sounds like he does better on it.
So maybe something else is going on.

Hi Tanya,
We had that problem with Tinkerbelle. The vet said as long as there is any urine smell at all, they will keep going there. We cleaned the carpet with Odoban (from the pet store), and use the Feliway diffusers. You don't need one in every room, I think they work for 600 sq. feet. We did plug one in next to her favorite non-litter box potty sopt, and that helped. The Feliway was empty ONE day, and she went right there. We buy them on ebay for pretty good prices (vendor overstock I think). Good luck!!
