Typically in such cases one or more pilots will control several airplanes according to instructions provide to them from the controller. Regards, Efty Yes, maybe most of those features are already implemented in the ATC-ML model. Please take a look at these screen shots which I made with latest GIT: http://flightgear.mxchange.org/pub/screenshots-master/fgfs-screen-023.png http://flightgear.mxchange.org/pub/screenshots-master/fgfs-screen-024.png http://flightgear.mxchange.org/pub/screenshots-master/fgfs-screen-026.png It may not show all features, but it shows e.g. that you handle multiple airplanes. So maybe just this aircraft needs some extending/expanding or some missing features being added and not a whole simulation based in FGFS needs to be written. The controls in 023.png are for sending pre-defined messages to a pilot (or some to all airmen). The last shows (upper right corner) a screen when you have clicked on one pilot name (from the list in 023.png) or on empty space (e.g. to send it to all airmen). Hi Bruce, this is how I configure osg (3.0.0 ATM): reconfigure.sh -- #!/bin/sh export CFLAGS=-g -O3 -fPIC export CXXFLAGS=-g -O3 -fPIC cmake -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE:STRING=Release -D \ CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH=/opt ../../osg/ reconfigure.sh -- As you can see, I specify ../../osg/ which means I'm doing a so called out-of-source-tree build. Re: [Flightgear-devel] Pro Flight Simulator
Hi, why make it all so complicated? FGFS is GNU GPL (2/3?). Report that scam to the FSF (Free Software Foundation). Maybe you will get nothing better back than just to report that video to youtube (show prove to youtube, and they must listen) but at least their scamming activity becomes more popular and that fact that FGFS is free software. As far as I know you are legally allowed to do what they are doing as long as you provide the full corresponding source code and where you can get it freely (libre). As I checked their webpage out, there are no such things: No link to flightgear.org and no provided full source code. So for my understanding they are violating the GNU GPL. [Flightgear-devel] Idea: Priority for loader threads?
Hello, I came up with this idea while I was flying around (long distances, e.g. EDDF to LFML) and experienced some hicks (huge FPS loss but after a a half second restored back to normal). I think at this short moment FGFS is loading scenery, models and so on. Wouldn't it be possible to set lower priority for those loader processes? I think no user can be asked to buy an expensive SCSI hardware system (which would lower the CPU usage compared to IDE/SATA systems). I mean somthing like niceness for forked loader threads, like we have on Uni*/Linux boxes. So the main simulation thread would have more CPU cycles left than the loader (which can quietly load in background). Some weeks ago, all went fine with the A320-211 and many other models (e.g. A380, 777-220ER) that have displays and horizon instrumentation. But with some recent introduced commits, they got messy. To show you what I mean, here are some screenshots: http://flightgear.mxchange.org/pub/screenshots-master/ In all the horizon instrument is no longer working (as it does before) and the displays in the A320-211 model (A320-family) are not really working (missing graphics here and there). Re: [Flightgear-devel] Splitting fgdata
Hi, you can download my fgdata bundle from here [1]. You can (and should) verify it with provided hashes and signature (GPG). After that you can extract it with gitbundle (or so). The usage of that tool should be widely documented. Anyway, I like your idea (and many others here as well) because it limits the fgdata repository only to the minimum-needed files to launch FGFS. [Flightgear-devel] Parking position names with spaces, a problem?
Hi all, for example the airport LFPG has a parking position with a name with spaces in it. My little launcher script [1] does currently not support this because of a for() loop will break those spaces into seperate lines. Assume that ${OPTIONS} is the list of command-line parmeters (I know, I should rename that): -- Snip # Flushs all options to ~/.fgfsrc fgfs_flush_options() { echo $0: Flushing options to ~/.fgfsrc ... echo -n ${HOME}/.fgfsrc for entry in ${OPTIONS}; do echo ${entry} ${HOME}/.fgfsrc done } -- Snap Can those spaced names be fixed e.g. to names with underscores? Re: [Flightgear-devel] Compiler Error with Special simgear folder in Linux
I use a prefix and out-of-source tree builds to install plib/osg/sg and fgfs itself. Here is plib configuration: ../../plib/configure --prefix=/opt Here is how I configured sg: ../../simgear/configure --with-jpeg-factory --prefix=/opt --with-osg=/opt And finally fgfs: ../../fgfs-base/flightgear/configure --with-osg=/opt --with-eventinput \ --with-logging --enable-osgviewer --enable-sp-fdms --prefix=/opt \ --datarootdir=/opt/fgdata This assumes that OSG is installed with same prefix /opt. You should really do out-of-source tree builds to keep your working copy (there where you checked out the code from repository) clean from modifications done by configure. This can be really easy archived by creating a separate build directory which is outside of the source code tree. Re: [Flightgear-devel] Shaders
Hi, All my problems have gone now. I got the cursors back, the shaders works as expected. I get a frame rate of 40 fps with all shaders enabled and quality level 4 at KSFO. Now I need some courage to fly with this rate of course. Good to hear that. Also you don't need optimization in e.g. OSG which would cost you a lot FPS. You only need -O0 if you debug OSG or any other lib. In general words: Use -O3 for fgfs/simgear/OSG for best FPS, -g or -fPIC doesn't hurt your performance but it (-g) helps developers with a nicer backtrace. If the crash happens with the optimized version of FGFS, try to reproduce it with an unoptimized (-O0) build (called debug build) because optimization does optimize out variable values (please ask C/C++ developers for in-depth information) to speed-up things but these variable values are very often required for devs to pin-down bugs. So for short: - Play with optimized builds for best gaming experiences (much higher FPS) - If a crash happens fire the debug build up (with all command-line parameters again) with the GNU debugger and try to reproduce it. - If you were able to reproduce it, show your findings (e.g. 'bt full') to this list - Recommend way to post backtraces is to use pastebins because else they would make this mailing list unusable Regards, Roland PS: I have no ATI, but a GeForce 9500 GT here, with optimized build I got FPS ~30-40 at KSGFO and even at EDDF with GlobalObjects installed. And beside that I am also trying to build a new version for built-in fgfs for my new OSX FlightGear launcher.
