Some further observations on the origins of crumpets

Crumpet = a small crumb kept as a pet

crumpet = a crumpled petal soaked in rum

crumpet = a squashed trumpet

crumpet = an umpires petulant stare

crumpet = a rather foul fart after eating rump steak

shoving your computer off the back of your desk (Card Table).

Upon your acceptance of this Agreement, this Website grants to you a
nonexclusive license to use this Website or your own Shoes (The Dressy

1. Use of the Website.

1.1 You may use this Website on a hard disk or other storage device. On a
scrap of drywall with a Sharpie, install and use the Website on a file

ok, so I hadn't yet checked out the where style loves art crap, but now that
I have visited La Jolla, I might suggest apart from the book design a
wardrobe design for the fluxpunkalternativejunglefunk band Dieter Roth and
the Flux Crumpettes. Okay, never mind. I just realized I must be one of the
dumb ones everyone keeps talking about.

Oh, but Owen, if you've read this far.,
teh show:
the fluxus show ideas began around last October when I had chanced to meet
some artists who were discussing Fluxus. I began my research and a dazzling
series of coincidences occurred. I met the artists at a concert at Birdland,
North Madison. I saw a few works by Mary Bauermeister and Robert LeBlanc.
Mr. LeBlanc's piece was a kinetic sound sculpture. Later in the evening The
Sun Ra Arkestra-- under the direction of Marshall Allen-- played under a
large tent near the pond. The young man who helped organized the event is a
student of Paluine Oliveros. I invited him to see my show 'Eureka, ' and he
then invited me to guest curate an exhibition at Birdland. As I mentioned, a
gargantuan barn, and a few other developments have dlayed the show.
The folks I had lined up were mainly individual artists who, through my
research, I discovered had been influenced by fluxus. Some did not realize
it, and one claimes he is more influenced by Bauhaus, but there is much
overlap there anyway. I also invited Yoko Ono though I knew she would be
busy. So, I am hesitant at this time to give out the names of others just
yet. I believe I should ask their permission first.

2004-05-26 Thread michael leigh
This is probabaly only of interest to those of you who
live in the u.k. but tonight on B.B.C. 2 TV there is a
programme about Becks Futures ART Award ceremony with
Yoko Ono giving out the prizes and a look at some of
the work which includes animals made from carpet fluff
and bananas.

Also on a rather tragic note we hear that several
million pounds worth of modern art from the collection
of Charles Sattchi was destroyed in a worehouse fire
in East London, including works by Tracey EMin, teh
CHapman Bros. and Damien Hurts.

Re: FLUXLIST: I survived FLUXLIST and what is Fluxus?

2004-05-26 Thread ArtnAnts
my reply:huh?
by Madawg
I have (in my mind) an ongoing fluxus project. I rent a space upstairs with an ocean view for my antiques business. I started putting fluxus things in there and made it look somewhat like an art studio. The art studio was my original intention but antiques make lots more money. The fluxus objects are not for sale-only trade, but Fluxus books are for sale. I see the whole space as an art installation. The idea that objects that come to me are random--by chance. I have a sign in the space that says"fluxus happens here". I use to have a cash register with fluxusbucks but it sold. Since Thomas Kinkade(painter of light) goes to the malls I thought why not Madawg Painter of Dark. There is also a gallery space here and I had a fluxus show in it last year. I showed "collectible fluxus" objects such as fluxbox1 and Fluxshoe magazine and I showed my work- some in collaboration with others on the internet.
But true to the nature of Fluxus my fluxus space changes at random.
Also I am listed in Who's Who and this year I listed myself as a Fluxus artist thereby carrying fluxus a step further into the mainstream.
My main point about how I act within Fluxus is that its inclusive and not elitist- I am talking about Fluxus now, not in the past. I like to consider myself working class fluxus.

Badgergirl asks - And you, Roger Dodger? Are you well?

I am indeed, thank you. I was visiting an infant school in Shoeburyness
today and saw a road sign which said Beware of Badgers. Well, actually
it was a red triangle which simply said Badgers.
I would have stopped to photograph it but I was in a stream of medium to
slow moving traffic at the time.

That's twice I've thought of you in the last week. Weird, eh?

Michael,

Please let Mr. Saatchi know that while I can not replace several million
pounds of lost art, I would be willing to donate several kilos fluxus to his
collection.

FLUXLIST: Wolverines and badgers. Holy Toledo, Batman!

2004-05-26 Thread allen bukoff
No, MIchigan is the Wolverine state. More on Wolverines at
http://www.wolverinefoundation.org/. More on Badgers at
http://www.badgers.org.uk/links/. I think we can all agree that Wolverines are a lot
more interesting and exotic than badgers. Indian mythology describes the wolverine as
a trickster-hero, and a link to the spirit world. Perhaps unrelated, or perhaps not,
is the historical fact that Michigan (the trickster Wolverine) in a deal with Ohio
(the Buckeye State whose official animal is the White-Tailed Deer) took the upper part
of Wisconsin (the Upper Peninsula) away from Wisconsin in exchange for giving Toledo
to Ohio. If you badger someone in Wisconsin about this, they usually just shrug their
shoulders.

Should Fluxlist have an official trickster-hero?
