FrameMaker, Missing fonts

2007-04-17 Thread Shmuel Wolfson

I have a FM file that uses unavailable fonts. The FM message is:

The CenturySchoolbook,Italic Italic Font is not available.
Times New Roman Italic will be used in this session.

There is not Times New Roman Italic in the font list, so I searched for
the Times New Roman font and replaced it with another font.
Unfortunately, I still get the same message. Any ideas? It won't let me
update the book this way.

 Hello, All!

This has been my first real venture into reference pages and I have
managed to befuddle myself. I am trying to connect a small graphic to a
particular paragraph tag. I managed to get the tagging part correct.
However, I want the graphic to appear directly left of the paragraph,
not above/below. Does anyone have an idea of how to do this? And, if so,
am I correct in my assumption that there are no strange caveats to using
 structured Frame and these?

Please reply directly, as I am on digest and won't see any answers until
 tomorrow morning.

Kristy,

Frame doesn't directly support your goal via the frame above/below
feature. However, you can get the result you want by using a borderless,
one-row, two-cell table, with the left cell pgf-tagged with a tiny font
(no content) and a frame below containing your icon. Put the textual
content in the other cell.

An easier way is to get the free reficons plug-in by Chris
Despopoulos, available here: http://www.freeframers.org/freeware/cud/

RE: FrameMaker, Missing fonts

2007-04-17 Thread Ridder, Fred
Note that there is a very good reason why you did not find
Times New Roman when you did a search. With the Remember
Missing Font Names preference turned on, the substitution only
occurs on the screen (and in any printed output). The font
specifications that are in the document itself are *not* changed--
that's the whole point of the remember names option. Only
after opening the file with remember names turned off would
you find the substituted font specified by name in the file itself.

My opinions only; I don't speak for Intel.

Generating a list of paragraph tags with properties?

I am sure that this is a job for Framescript, but darn it, you can do it
in Word without doing anything special (Print and under Print What,
select Styles), so I am hoping that you can do it on Framemaker. I want
to generate on a per file basis, a list of all paragraph tags used in
the file - I want the name of the tag, and all the properties of the tag
(Basic, Pagination, Advanced, etc.).

Is this possible?

Yesbut... you need Silicon Prairie's Paragraph Tools plug-in. (It's only $10.)

Be aware that such documents can run to hundreds of pages in FrameMaker.

FrameMaker, Missing fonts

2007-04-17 Thread Shmuel Wolfson
Thanks for your response.

I found some information about where to find missing fonts, but it would
have been very time consuming to go though the whole list of
possibilities. See http://www.daube.ch/docu/fmaker32.html#1

So after searching for the font that Frame used as a replacement and not
finding it, I figured it couldn't hurt to turn off "Remember Missing
Fonts" temporarily.

FrameMaker, Missing fonts

2007-04-17 Thread Ridder, Fred
Note that there is a very good reason why you did not find
Times New Roman when you did a search. With the "Remember
Missing Font Names" preference turned on, the substitution only
occurs on the screen (and in any printed output). The font
specifications that are in the document itself are *not* changed--
that's the whole point of the "remember names" option. Only
after opening the file with "remember names" turned off would
you find the substituted font specified by name in the file itself.

My opinions only; I don't speak for Intel.

Generating a list of paragraph tags with properties?

2007-04-17 Thread Van Boening, Tammy
I am sure that this is a job for Framescript, but darn it, you can do it
in Word without doing anything special (Print and under Print What,
select Styles), so I am hoping that you can do it on Framemaker. I want
to generate on a per file basis, a list of all paragraph tags used in
the file - I want the name of the tag, and all the properties of the tag
(Basic, Pagination, Advanced, etc.).

Is this possible?

Thanks,

TVB

Yesbut... you need Silicon Prairie's Paragraph Tools plug-in. (It's only $10.)

Be aware that such documents can run to hundreds of pages in FrameMaker.
