ClamAV 0.102.4 is out now. Users can head over to clamav.net/downloads
<https://www.clamav.net/downloads> to download the release materials.

ClamAV 0.102.4 is a bug patch release to address the following issues:

CVE-2020-3350
<https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2020-3350>Fixed a
vulnerability a malicious user could exploit to replace a scan target's
directory with a symlink to another path to trick clamscan, clamdscan, or
clamonacc into removing or moving a different file (such as a critical system
file). The issue would affect users that use the --move or --remove options for
clamscan, clamdscan and clamonacc.

For more information about AV quarantine attacks using links, see RACK911 Lab's
report
<https://www.rack911labs.com/research/exploiting-almost-every-antivirus-software>.

CVE-2020-3327
<https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2020-3327>Fixed a
vulnerability in the ARJ archive-parsing module in ClamAV 0.102.3 that could
cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. Improper bounds checking resulted in
an out-of-bounds read that could cause a crash. The previous fix for this CVE
in version 0.102.3 was incomplete. This fix correctly resolves the issue.

CVE-2020-3481
<https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2020-3481>Fixed a
vulnerability in the EGG archive module in ClamAV 0.102.0 - 0.102.3 that could
cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. Improper error handling could cause
a crash due to a NULL pointer dereference. This vulnerability is mitigated for
those using the official ClamAV signature databases because the file type
signatures in daily.cvd will not enable the EGG archive parser in affected
versions.

We will be publishing a release candidate for version 0.103.0 in the next
couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

problem with 12.1-RELEASE.

I'm not sure why configure script produces such warning messages. But
mail/libmilter surely installs ${PREFIX}/lib/libmilter/mfapi.h and
configure script correctly detects it anyway. Therefore I don't think
this warning message is of much concern.

And I submitted a bit modified patch as following bug report.

security/clamav: Fix build after r541115 when base system is build
with 'WITHOUT_SENDMAIL=yes'

Best Regards.

latest Makefile breaks compilation of security/clamav if base is lacking sendmail

2020-07-05 Thread Michael Grimm
Hi,

I am running 12.1-STABLE (r362940), ports head (541271) and compile all my
ports with poudriere-devel

My /etc/src.conf contains …

WITHOUT_SENDMAIL=yes

… thus I do not have /usr/lib/libmilter.so in base.

The recent modification of security/clamav/Makefile breaks my setup (again [1],
see
https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-ports/2018-December/115116.html).

Error message ...

checking for mi_stop in -lmilter… no
configure: error: Cannot find libmilter
...
*** Error code 1

… and after having that fixed another error:

checking for mi_stop in -lmilter… yes
checking libmilter/mfapi.h usability… no
checking libmilter/mfapi.h presence… no
checking for libmilter/mfapi.h… no
configure: error: Please install mfapi.h from the sendmail distribution
===>  Script "configure" failed unexpectedly.
...
*** Error code 1

I managed to get compilation working with the attached, surely crude and dirty
hack (due to my lack of knowledge regarding ports Makefiles), by adding
'MILTER_LDFLAGS= -L${LOCALBASE}/lib' and 'MILTER_CFLAGS=
-I${LOCALBASE}/include' in order to help finding relevant files from port
mail/libmilter.

What worries my somehow, although clamav is working as usual, is the following
part in poudrier's log:

checking for mi_stop in -lmilter… yes
checking libmilter/mfapi.h usability… yes
checking libmilter/mfapi.h presence… no
configure: WARNING: libmilter/mfapi.h: accepted by the compiler,
rejected by the preprocessor!
configure: WARNING: libmilter/mfapi.h: proceeding with the compiler's
result
checking for libmilter/mfapi.h... yes

Here my question: Is this the right way to fix this issue?

Thanks and regards,
Michael

https://blog.clamav.net/2020/02/clamav-01022-security-patch-released.html

Today, we're publishing 0.102.2. Navigate to ClamAV's
downloads<http://www.clamav.net/downloads> page to download the release
materials.
0.102.2
ClamAV 0.102.2 is a security patch release to address the following issues.

  *
CVE-2020-3123<https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2020-3123>: A
denial-of-service (DoS) condition may occur when using the optional credit card
data-loss-prevention (DLP) feature. Improper bounds checking of an unsigned
variable resulted in an out-of-bounds read, which causes a crash.
  * Significantly improved the scan speed of PDF files on Windows.
  * Re-applied a fix to alleviate file access issues when scanning RAR files
in downstream projects that use libclamav where the scanning engine is
operating in a low-privilege process. This bug was originally fixed in 0.101.2
and the fix was mistakenly omitted from 0.102.0.
  * Fixed an issue where freshclam failed to update if the database version
downloaded is one version older than advertised. This situation may occur after
a new database version is published. The issue affected users downloading the
whole CVD database file.
  * Changed the default freshclam ReceiveTimeout setting to 0 (infinite). The
ReceiveTimeout had caused needless database update failures for users with
slower internet connections.
  * Correctly display the number of kilobytes (KiB) in progress bar and
reduced the size of the progress bar to accommodate 80-character width
terminals.
  * Fixed an issue where running freshclam manually causes a daemonized
freshclam process to fail when it updates because the manual instance deletes
the temporary download directory. The freshclam temporary files will now
download to a unique directory created at the time of an update instead of
using a hardcoded directory created/destroyed at the program start/exit.
  * Fix for freshclam's OnOutdatedExecute config option.
  * Fixes a memory leak in the error condition handling for the email parser.
  * Improved bound checking and error handling in ARJ archive parser.
  * Improved error handling in PDF parser.
  * Fix for memory leak in byte-compare signature handler.
  * Updates to the unit test suite to support libcheck 0.13.
  * Updates to support autoconf 2.69 and automake 1.15.

Special thanks to the following people for code contributions and bug reports:

  *   Antoine Desch??nes
  *   Eric Lindblad
  *   Gianluigi Tiesi

FWIW, the fix in 0.101.3 seems to be incomplete. I guess there will be another

Good work sir.

I usually stay in touch with clamav and other since my BSD/OS days
even if I abondonned BSD/OS 3 years ago.

The correct thing to do is to politely ask the maintainer as to the
state of the port, and request an update. Alternatively, you can
submit a patch to the port to bring it up to date.

Cheers.

Thanks.

"One more thing" ;-)

Your patch will work, and thinking about the maturity of libmilter, your patch
will be an appropriate one.

I am thinking about a more "future safe" solution for security/clamav-milter:

#) add an OPTION to security/clamav-milter's Makefile whether to use
libmilter from base or ports
#) make the default to use port mail/libmilter
#) because the latter will allow to automatically follow newest
developments of libmilter and clamav ports

Don't get me wrong, you are the maintainer, thus, it is completely up to you!

Thanks again and kind regards,
Michael

If I do set the option to create the milter interface (sp?) in security/clamav
I do run into the same error "Cannot find libmilter".

I didn't try to build security/clamav without milter support, though. Due to
obvious reasons, because I do need the milter support for postfix.

BTW: Please have a look at the mail/spamass-milter port. This port builds
against the libmilter port as well.

I tried build with poudriere under following conditions.

Host:
FreeBSD rolling-vm-freebsd1.home.utahime.org 13.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 13.0-CURRENT
r342280 GENERIC amd64

Poudriere:
3.2.8

 Build from source tree.
2. 12.0-STABLE r341991 amd64
 Installed from

5. 11.2-RELEASE-p7 amd64
 Installed from

Ports tree:

And build of security/clamav-milter succeeded with all cases.

Do you use any non-default setting about clamav-milter itself or any
of its dependencies?

See, that is what I was describing. You do have sendmail installed in base, and
thus, the libmilter library will make it into your poudriere build jail, and
security/clamav-milter will find a libmilter library -in base!- during
compilation and will link this library. Thus, this port will compile in your
case, because it is using libmilter.so from base, not from the mail/libmilter
port!

FYI: I did trigger this bug because I do compile base without sendmail
(WITHOUT_SENDMAIL=yes in /etc/src.conf)! Thus, no "chance finding" of
/usr/lib/libmilter.so.X in base aka my poudriere jail during my compilation.

Michael, I am certainly not a guru regarding poudriere, or system updating. I
just now what I was told. Perhaps Matthew Seaman or
somebody with more knowledge about this than I can assist you.

All I know for certain is that I was told to update the poudriere jail, I
actually deleted the old one and created a new one, and then do a forced
rebuild of all installed ports. The following worked for me, after I created
a new jail. Obviously, the jail name here is mine.

  portmaster --list-origins | sort -d | tee "~/portlist.txt"
  poudriere bulk -c -f "~/portlist.txt" -j "12amd64"
  pkg upgrade -y

~ $ poudriere jail -l
JAILNAME VERSION ARCH METHOD TIMESTAMP PATH
12amd64 12.0-RELEASE-p1 amd64 ftp2018-12-21 18:25:41
/usr/local/poudriere/jails/12amd64

~ $ locate libmilter.so
/usr/lib/libmilter.so
/usr/lib/libmilter.so.6
/usr/lib32/libmilter.so
/usr/lib32/libmilter.so.6
/usr/local/poudriere/jails/12amd64/usr/lib/libmilter.so
/usr/local/poudriere/jails/12amd64/usr/lib/libmilter.so.6
/usr/local/poudriere/jails/12amd64/usr/lib32/libmilter.so
/usr/local/poudriere/jails/12amd64/usr/lib32/libmilter.so.6

Hmm, I do get the feeling that you misunderstand what I am telling you.

My poudriere's jail follows /usr/src. Thus at every rebuild of my OS (I do that
every other week because I am following STABLE-12) my jail gets upgraded as
well:

mike> poudriere jail -l
JAILNAME VERSION ARCH METHOD TIMESTAMP PATH
stable 12.0-STABLE 1200500 amd64 src=/usr/src 2018-12-22 18:19:50
/usr/home/poudriere/jails/stable

Next, that poudriere jail keeps a copy of a resulting "make buildworld" run of
base. This jail is lacking any binary/library of ports running on my machine.
Thus, libmilter.so is missing as well:

mike> find /usr/home/poudriere/jails/stable -name "libmilter.so*" -ls
mike>

Now, poudriere will create (cpdup) as many jails from
/usr/home/poudriere/jails/stable as told to use builders. This "OS copy" is
lacking the needed libmilter library as well, when poudriere is trying to build
security/clamav-milter. And it will fail without indicating that there is a
dependency for yet another port, namely mail/libmilter. My proposed patch will
deal with that dependency.

YMMV, but IMHO, a port shouldn't rely on pre-installed libraries from base or
other ports. Thus it shouldn't need a "forced rebuild of everything".

Correct me if I am mistaken, but IIRC the libmilter library used to be part of
sendmail in base. This has been modified in FBSD 12, again IIRC [1].

Regards,
Michael

Did you update the poudriere jail to 12.0? I had a similar problem until I
undated it and did a forced rebuild of everything. In fact, I found it easier
and quicker to simple delete the existing jail and create a new one.

This happens when compiled by poudriere.

I am not quite sure if I do understand you correctly.

I am using poudriere to build my ports. Within a poudriere jail used to compile
the clamav-libmilter port no libmilter.so can be found by configure (see error
message above) unless you tell clamav-libmilter's Makefile to depend on it and
thus pre-install it in this jail.

Clamav-milter updated fine for me once I updated all of the installed ports
on my system. I am assuming that you did update your ports tree and then
update all of the ports on your system. If you don't, clamav-milter, and
several other ports, will fail.

security/clamav-milter fails to compile (preliminary patch included)

2018-12-22 Thread Michael Grimm
Hi,

after upgrading from STABLE-11 to STABLE-12 security/clamav-milter failed to
compile:

configure: error: Cannot find libmilter
===>  Script "configure" failed unexpectedly.
Please report the problem to y...@utahime.org [maintainer] and attach

a good idea to provide an overview of all packages installed on your
system
(e.g. a /usr/local/sbin/pkg-static info -g -Ea).

It looks to me that starting STABLE-12 one needs to add library dependency to
mail/libmilter:

___ patch _____
--- security/clamav/Makefile.old2018-12-22 16:43:04.913880000 +0100

USES= cpe gmake gnome libtool ncurses pathfix pkgconfig ssl
 USE_RC_SUBR=   clamav-clamd clamav-freshclam

This patch works for me.

BUT: I do not know if this is the right way to fix it, because this patch is
applied to security/clamav which in turn is used from security/clamav-milter by
simply adding OPTIONS_SLAVE+= MILTER. Thus a libmilter dependency will be
added to users of plain security/clamav port as well.

The ,1 at the end of the port to be installed indicates a new port epoch,
which is used to enforce an "upgrade" to a lower version number.

This is typically done if a port upgrade has been revoked due to problems
with the new version.

In this particular case the commit log says:

r487064 | antoine | 2018-12-09 18:33:26 +0100 (Sun, 09 Dec 2018) | 6 lines

Downgrade to 0.100.2
Upstream plans to release version 0.101.1 which fixes header issues in January
2019

The problem about libclamav API is found in 0.101.0.

http://lists.clamav.net/pipermail/clamav-users/2018-December/007236.html

This results in build error of some ports that depends on
security/clamav. So it is downgraded to 0.100.2 until 0.101.1 is
released.

ClamAV Port Version Regression?

2018-12-11 Thread Janky Jay, III
Hi All,

After a portsnap to pull ${latest), I'm seeing the following:

clamav-0.101.0_2 < needs updating (index has 0.100.2,1)

The version that is claiming to be the latest appears to be a version
regression. Am I wrong here? I checked the ClamAV site and it appears
version 0.101.0 is, in fact, the latest. So, I'm wondering if there was
possibly a revision issue that's causing this?

From what I can see, the clamav-unofficial-sigs port works. It
determines if there are updates or whether you have checked
recently, so that you do not inadvertently dos the signature

install clamav via ports? If it is installed, what is the
clamscan_bin variable set to
in /usr/local/etc/clamav-unofficial-sigs/master.conf file? It needs
to be set to the correct path, for
instance /usr/local/bin/clamscan. The correct path on your setup
can be determined using 'which clamscan'

From the "master.conf" file:

# Custom Command Paths, these are detected with the which command
when not set.

Clamscan was commented out; however, the default setting was
to /usr/bin/clamscan

From what I can figure out, the "which" command worked fine outside
of a CRON job, but was failing when clamav-unofficial-sigs.sh was
run via CRON. I uncommented the "clamscan" setting and set it to
point to the correct location. Now it works correctly.

This is probably a bug, but I am not going to waste my time reporting
it. The ports version of this program is very old. There have been
five newer versions since its release. No doubt this problem has been
corrected.

The error message that you're getting has nothing to do with the
version of the script that's available from the ports collection.

Contrary to what you think, you would get the same error message with
the latest version of the script (clamscan binary detection has
remained exactly the same). You obviously did not set up PATH variable
correctly for script invoking by cron daemon.

This is the default setting:

# Custom Command Paths, these are detected with the which command when
not set
# uname_bin="/usr/bin/uname"
# clamscan_bin="/usr/bin/clamscan"
# rsync_bin="/usr/bin/rsync"
# wget_bin="/usr/bin/wget"
# curl_bin="/usr/bin/curl"
# gpg_bin="/usr/bin/gpg"

I only needed to uncomment and change the "clamscan_bin" setting to get
it working correctly when run via CRON. Since the other settings are
not correct for a FreeBSD system, yet still work, I do believe it is a
bug of some sorts. However, it is not worth arguing about.

You did not set up PATH variable correctly in your crontab. This is not
a bug in the script. Also, master.conf and os.conf files should not be
modified, or you will end up with old versions of those files when
updating to a new version of the port. All user changes should be placed
in user.conf (this is mentioned in both pkg-message and ports/UPDATING).

On a side note, you mentioned that you edited "master.conf" file. As I
wrote in pkg-message, all user configuration changes should go in file
"user.conf" file, in order to make updating the script easier.

As far as updating the port to the latest version is concerned, the
development of the script appeared to be on halt since there were no
updates from august last year until march this year and now it is
quiet once again. The original script ended up being abandoned and I'm
more cautious this time, so that I don't end up wasting my time.

I am not sure what that is supposed to mean. The postfix "stable"
version is only updated approximately once a year. A program does not
have to be updated every "X" number of days to be actively developed.
In any case, there have been five new versions released since the one
in the ports system was released. Certainly that would seem to indicate
that something was happening with the application.

That means exactly what I wrote. I don't want to waste my time, if
forked version also ends up being abandoned.

2017-05-02 Thread O. Hartmann
Someone/something messed up the ports tree:

[00:00:22] >> Error: security/clamav depends on nonexistent origin
'devel/llvm36'; Please contact maintainer of the port to fix this. [00:00:22]
>> Error: security/clamav-milter depends on nonexistent origin
'devel/llvm36'; Please contact maintainer of the port to fix this.

It seems some dependencies to deleted port devel/llvm36 are still active.

You are right. Hell, if I had cancer why should the doctor tell me if
there is no cure for it. By the way, you must be a government employee.
You know, the type thats wants to keep everything secret but pry into

Hmm. Let's see. A bug that may allow the defeat of a security mechanism and
allow a black-hat to do bad stuff before the bug con even be looked at. Why
would anyone have an issue with that? I mean, don't we all want more
zero-day vulnerabilities? (Sorry, Guess I put on my sarcasm hat today.)

Okay, disabling that option and rebuilding "clamav" cured the problem.
Maybe it should be turned off by default in the Makefile.

Do you have LLVM Enable JIT Bytecode compiler (bundled LLVM) enabled when you
do build clamav ?
If so try building without that.
If I try to build with that enabled on amd64 current, the tests fail, without
that enabled everything works fine

Re: ClamAV

2014-11-19 Thread Kurt Jaeger
Hi!

Just ran into an update issue with the ClamAV port:
--- cut ---
../libclamav/others.h:317: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list
before 'clcb_file_props'

Can you deinstall the old before before building the new ?

This sometimes happens with ports (they dont build if the older
version is installed).

See:
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=193371

clamav-0.98.3_2: LibClamAV Warning: Cannot dlopen libclamunrar_iface...

2014-05-15 Thread Dr. Peter Voigt
After the upgrade to clamav-0.98.3_2 I am obtaining following error on
every start of ClamAV:

# service clamav-clamd start
Starting clamav_clamd.
LibClamAV Warning: Cannot dlopen libclamunrar_iface: file not found -
unrar support unavailable

ClamAV, however, seems to work correctly. Is this a known issue?

I am on 10.0-RELEASE-p3 amd64.

Peter

Hey Peter,

This can be fixed by applying this patch:
https://github.com/vrtadmin/clamav-devel/commit/d17ee49f75e23b43fadf745c27dc4dd16ee372e5

CC'd on this email is the ports maintainer for ClamAV.

Thanks,

Shawn, thanks for your extremely quick reply. I am afraid, I am not yet
experienced enough to apply a patch to files of a port that are not
permanently present in the ports tree like configure and
 m4/reorganization/version.m4.

Nevertheless, the issue is obviously ClamAV related and should be
merged to a new version of security/clamav. Should I open a
corresponding PR or does the CC-ed maintainer feel informed
 sufficiently?

 Regards,
 Peter

Opening a PR never hurts. I'm sure Renato will see both. As you can see by
the link I provided, the fix for this is in upstream ClamAV 0.98.4, which
will be released in the near future (sorry, no exact ETA).

Thanks,

Shawn

 Thanks in advance.

The problem wouldn't be with ClamAV, but with the port entry. ClamAV
currently doesn't build with clang on 11-CURRENT, but it does indeed work
with gcc (I'm building manually from source checked out via git, and am
using gcc/g++ 4.6.4 from ports). Maybe the port maintainer has some input.

The amavisd.conf that ships with amavisd-new 2.8.0 does not contain
the wrong line.

Maybe this comes from a previous version or a local problem.

## Doug Barton (do...@freebsd.org):

 Any ideas? :)

Looks as if the official distfile really has 45793398 bytes. At least
that's what I'm getting from from Sourceforge, and it's signed with the
usual (i.e. used for previous releases) gpg key.
Perhaps the clamav team rerolled their tarball at the time of the
announcement? Given that I saw 0.97.3 in the ports tree before the
announcement (from the clamav team) was in my mailbox...

Christoph

Download clamav-0.97.3.tar.gz manually and place it in /usr/ports/distfiles.

Then go to /usr/ports/security/clamav
Then run make makesum from that directory.
It will create a new distinfo file.

But why is there a mismatch.?? Why is the version on the net different
than the first tarball send to the port maintainer.
Call me paranoia, but i do not trust this so i wait till things get
cleared. :D

So true; I will wait for clearing as well.
Thanks for explaining; I found some information on disabeling the
filesize compare, but I think that might cause a security issue as well.
