Follow-up Comment #4, patch #5564 (project freeciv):

I agree the first one is odd and should be fixed.
I'd suggest to change the resultant transformation to Forest-Hills (in 24
turns), same than in v2.6. But I'm not sure if this would be savegame
compatible.

About the second point, I think both paths can coexist as different
alternatives to do the same.
If you transform Plains-Grassland (24 turns), and you have to move your
workers before they have ended, later you will need to start again from the
beginning.
The alternative path Plains-Forest-Grassland (25 turns) require 1 extra
turn, but once the forest is finished, you can move you workers and continue
later with Forest-Grassland (15 turns).
I'd find it problematic only if the direct transformation were more
expensive.

Or... we might change the time for Forest-Grass and Grass-Forest from 15
turns to 14, so the sum is 24.

With both changes, the result would be:
Plains-Forest-Hills (34 turns)
Grass-Forest-Hills (38 turns, instead of 39)
Grass-Hills (36 turns)

This seems not to be as simple thing as I first thought - dropping S2_4
target as change is too risky for that branch. The unit selection dialog
actually crashes if opened without selected units. While the crash is easy to
fix, the unit selection dialog in general builds things up relative to the
currently selected unit (or head unit, if multiple selected) - (Same) Tile
is the tile unit stands on, Continent likewise, Land / Sea only apper
depending on where the current unit is.

it.

Handle 2.6/TRUNK in this ticket, and open a new one for S2_5 (S2_4 is going
end-of-life soon anyway + one should not include risky updates there in the
last minute) so at least we remember that the bug exist in S2_5 (even if that
ticket doesn't get fixed during the lifetime of S2_5)

Fixes for all branches attached: make a decomposed update_tile_knowledge()
inside destroy_[extra|base]().

Note that it also fixes another bug in TRUNK and S2_6 when removing a base
with both _border_sq_ and _vision_sq_ effects (the vision wasn't removed).

 As you added tile_remove_extra() call to earlier phase, I

 remove only the empty line before it.
Actually, the accident was to remove the empty line (copied from S2_4 and
S2_5). I had kept tile_remove_extra() at the last to avoid multiple else
cases. But it doesn't longer apply.

Details:

Bug #23094 removed some Qt icons for licensing reasons. This will cause a
regression in the next Qt client release unless remedied, at least on Windows.
(Hence release target of 2.5.0-RC1.)

I assume we want copies of whatever licence-compatible icons we find in svn.

Should they be only included in Windows installer distribution (with Qt client
depending on freedesktop.org compatible icon set in other environments)? Or
should they go in all distributions?

[Freeciv-Dev] [patch #5564] civ2civ3: backport some terrain effects

Follow-up Comment #3, patch #5564 (project freeciv):

Because S2_5 doesn't have Grassland/Plains transforming to water, this
backport leaves some oddities:
* In Forest, both mining and transforming yields Grassland, but the latter is
more expensive and thus pointless.
* Plains-Forest-Grassland via mining takes 25 turns, Plains-Grassland via
transf(O)rm is pifflingly cheaper at 24 turns (unlikely to make a difference
in practice).

The simplest thing would be to remove the transform possibilities, but that
would break loading savegames with units doing those activities.

Less disruptive would be to change the transform cost to match the mining cost
(so Forest-Grassland by transform reduced to 15, Plains-Grassland increase
to 25). It'll be ugly in the help though (people will wonder why the transform
path exists).

This belongs in a new ticket, but I'm interested in what people think should
be done to resolve this.
