Re: [Audyssey] thoughts on game keys - Re: Urgent! pyracy issue forShades of doom
I don't respond to many of these issues, but just to let you know a replacement key for my sons car, was going to cost in the region of £100, just so I would not have to wait around in the rain after work. So my point here is that a replacement key for a game and a replacement key for other things can be a vast difference in cost. I do agree that we should take as much care as possible in keeping game keys safe, but it is not always that easy. By the way, we did not get the spare key, I just get wet! Re: [Audyssey] game pirates' should get their just desserts
Yes, I agree with Charles 100 percent here, it doesn't matter if you are talking about a game for $5, or a screenreader for $1200, cracking software is just wrong and in the end really hurts us all because it damages the developers ability to give us new and exciting software. Are the audioGame forum moderators on this list? Personally, I would like to see anyone asking for or talking about distributing cracks banned from those forums and their messages erased. A clear signal needs to be sent to these irresponsible jerks that this won't be tolerated. Ours is possibly the most fragile game market out there, and pinheads like this make it even more so. [Audyssey] found the map in Sarah
Hi everyone I found the map in the dunjon in the Sarah game. I think Phil should make a save game patch so that you can hit f3 to save your game like Packman and Shades of Doom. That's the only thing about the Sarah game that I don't like. I get up to do something and I have to exit the game then start it all over again. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] Urgent! pyracy issue for Shades of doom
you should be able to get your key back. gma has a free key polocy, bsc has a key limits as well as lworks. Not sure about bbc, or pb-games. xsight does not use a reg system yet. and usagames hasn't released a game that needs a code yet. draconis I do not know. This does bring up an interesting thing. If a company goes bust for whatever reason, And this company used online activation or whatever, etc well what would happen to the products you got? If you couldn't activate then they would be worthless. Also since you couldn't buy anymore, if you still wanted the program unless someone traded it over trademe or ebay, you probably wouldn't be able to get it lagit. This is one thing I do ask, because with all the reg codes not being standard codes, ie bassed on hardware or requiring a online activater if the company goes bust, your lagit copy is junk. At least with the standard codes you could trade I suppose, if you really wanted to. And I just wandered what if any failsafes are there in the industry as a whole. And if not I think some should be implimented. The semi solution would be to crack the program, however as you say thats not legal or right. So. I just wandered what would happen in this situation, we have had some drop out. Fortunately I was not interested in the companies that went, still I ask this as I havn't seen any falesafes. Note this excludes companies that transfer to other companies etc because you guys obviously have a failsafe system in place. any ideas on the failsafe issue since we are talking about this. I may even post something on this to the technology.menvi.org site. At 02:33 a.m. 6/06/2007, you wrote: >I baught my copy of shades of doom. It didn't cost that much. [Audyssey] No better time to join Popomundo
Hi all, I have been playing the online web based game Popomundo for several months now, and in my opinion, it has something for just about everyone that enjoys accessible games. The game is centered on you moving your music band up through the ranks, but you aren't forced to take any particular path in your online life, you can be a doctor, police, business tycoon, whatever. The game is the most accessible online game I have ever played, and the developers work hard at keeping it that way. I have talked back and forth with the developers of the game several times, and they are very responsive to adding features that are screenreader friendly. I have a very successful club in the game located in Paris, and I am willing to give any blind player a high paying job there if they want it, just message me in game and let me know. My CEO of the club is a fellow blink, and she does a great job. Additionally, I have just set up a tribe for blind players in the game called Tribe Blinks, this allows us our own forum in game to discuss aspects of playing the game blind. Again, if you want to join the tribe, message me in game. My name in the game is Gerry Johnson, just go to the search page and you can find me quickly. If you want to check the game out go to www.popomundo.com The game is free to play, though you get some extra features if you become VIP for $3 a month. Later taters, Che ___ Gamers mailing list .. Indeed Che, Richard is I believe most deffinately on this list and i've reported the post using the forum's report system. Certainly, for those of us who've used the audio games.net forums it's been a great place to discuss accessible games, it's just a shame that one or two "pinheads" as you put it are attempting to use it for more unpleasant things. Re: [Audyssey] Urgent! pyracy issue for Shades of doom
The only problem with that is that it might move David to cease all audio game development, and since his games are with little exception the most complex outthere at the moment we'd be putting in jeopardy one of the few developers for whom I still have any real hope. We've heard nothing from him in almost two years regarding new titles---well actually that isn't entirely true since he did say something in an audio interview whose URL I cannot remember, and I don't want to lose the promise of his titles. I wholeheartedly agree. If too many people start things like this we may very well lose every developer we have, and then we'll be screwed. [Audyssey] SCW experiences and bug report
Hi, I do still think that it should be SCWW instead of SCW, but that's irrilevant. Anyways, I've beat the game mentioned earlier and found it definitely great-'n-fresh! It's absolutely not my favorite style, but it's well done. Now for the hard hitting serious stuff: I think I encountered some bugs along my way to the top. However, I'm not the developer, so some things may just be done on purpose. So let me go ahead and put the famous thing here... s p o i l e r s p a c e There we go. Now we can talk, finally! Okay sorry, I'll get to the point now. To start at Sarah's very bottom, why don't the dungeon doors make any sound? I'm just wondering. And speaking of the dungeons, I can't find any of the items that I obtained there back in my inventory. Then yet another thingy, which is on the second floor. The poison toilet doesn't work quite well (unless it is supposed to keep saying "Doxy"). Okay, on to the divination classroom (the official one right above the seventh floor). When you press Shift-D there, you'll get an error that I can't recall yet. By the way, did you notice how many commas I've used? Anyway, this is mostly everything. Maybe I forgot something and some things have already been reported (like the headless hats issue). I didn't play the game here on my own notebook, but I certainly consider buying a copy of the game sooner or later. Cheers! ___ Gamers mailing list .. [Audyssey] thoughts on game keys - Re: Urgent! pyracy issue for Shades of doom
In every user's guide I have read, and I do read them before playing a game, it is strongly suggested that you write your authorization code in braille, put it on tape, or whatever. Keep a backup copy of your keys in case you experience PC problems that cause your key to get lost. If you don't, it's your responsibility, not the game developer's. If you buy a car, and lose the car key 6 months later, should the manufacturer furnish you with another one free of charge?, or should you have made another key beforehand, just in case? Obviously, you should have made a duplicate key. The same principle applies to game keys. -- If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words. - Original Message - From: "Ronald Hopkins II" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2007 3:39 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Urgent! pyracy issue for Shades of doom > Hello. [Audyssey] PC Jeopardy - Re: audio trivial pursuit - Re: Board games was Hello
In Jeopardy, you might get the wrong answer, or should I say, question?, if the clue is something like "the developer of STFC." and you type "Thomas Ward" or "Who is Tom Ward?". Re: [Audyssey] audio trivial pursuit - Re: Board games was Hello
Hi Jim, Sure a tightly based string matching game would require exilent spelling. Which means you should likely use one or two word answers such asin the following example. Question: "What is the widest river in the world?" You would type the answer: Mississippi and press enter. Of course if it is Jeopardy you would fraze the question like: What is Mississippi which would have to be well documented to keep from getting the wrong answer. You are right one needs a database to match answers with questions In know your files use flat databases which are just text files. There areother databases that can be used. Well, I could go on and on, but my wife is telling me to run. Cheers. ___ Gamers mailing list .. I've deffinately done that as well Davy, but sinse this isn't the first time said member has made posts like this, I wonder if something definite needs to be said, - either by Richard and sander (it is their forum afterall), or by David greenwood sinse it's his game. I'm glad you agree with me though that this sort of request isn't a good thing. all the best, Dark. - Original Message - From: "Davy Kager" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2007 1:36 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Urgent! pyracy issue for Shades of doom >I read it as well, and it's quite nasty. Re: [Audyssey] audio trivial pursuit - Re: Board games was Hello
H, Jim, I've had similar problems in interactive fiction games to the ones you describe with Pc jepardy. but perhaps for ease of gameplay you could use multiple choice questions in the various trivial persuit catagories instead? The only alternative is to do what a lot of I.F. games do and allow several variations for each answer, though I'd imagine this would be rather time consuming. Beware the Grue! (I would also accept being ware of the large lirking monster from the realm of Zork!). H, well I'm sure there was an mp3 review of jd around somewhere. As I said though, you can always download the demo from Lworks which will give you an idea of the basic mechanics of the game, -- even if it won't show you the full scope of unlockables and extras the game has to offer.
