Dark, This has nothing to do with me being upset. If you read down in my e-mail, and I know you did, I said that his joke was cool, but I do know that people put e-mails aside for later. I don't understand how you thought I was getting upset. I was just stating something that was true, the fact that Thomas was saying that his next beta would be released in a few days, and that was at the end of March, and if you think about it, if a developer says that, then you will look for something in the next few days. And, let's face it, some folks don't like being told that they were gotten, if they were just putting things off to the side until they were ready to download the beta. You, being the moderator of audio games should understand that. We don't know when someone will be put off from downloading a game. Personally Jeremy, I'd just view the plausability of Tom's joke as part of the thing that made it classic. I admit, if he did this frequently it would be irritating and possibly put people off checking, but I don't personally see how a single harmless april fool's joke could put anyone off downloading a game. As long as Tom doesn't make a habbit of issuing false release info I don't really see anyone being so overcome with rage as to never play his games again, or anything like that. As for the checking E-mails business, Tom did state in the original message that it was a Joke. When i myself have been especially busy working on my phd or away from my computer for long periods, I go through my E-mails sequencially, and read those that look interesting to me (even release info for new games sinse I usually like to know about new features). As I said, this just strikes me as a simple, easily corrected mistake, and no reason for yourself, or anyone else to become irritated, nor do I really see what you mean about it not including people. Re: [Audyssey] fallthru advanced stuff
Ok, lets see what I can do here. Possible spoilers below. The end point of the silver maze could be where the frabat is. It's the room that has a tomb in it. As for what to do there, if you haven't seen the tip since its random, I can tell you that if I remember correctly, one of the peasants claims that the key is Under the silver maze. You'll need a tool here that's used very seldom in the game. though how a peasant found out that the key was down there and why he didn't claim it for himself is beyond me, *grins*. As for the weyring maze, that one's a bit trickier. You can always get into the maze, the tough part is getting back out. Given that this one's just frustrating if you don't know the mechanic, if you haven't already figured it out I'll just tell you that you need to have full health to be able to turn the rusty wheel. You'll have to keep a lot of salve handy to accomplish this, since that maze saps health like noone's business. Once you've turned the wheel, I've found the best way to get back to the entrance is actually, surprisingly, to wander aimlessly, since the go in a single direction mechanic doesn't seem to apply here. But once you get back out, the weyring is yours. Hth, and hope you decide to take up the game again. -- From: dark d...@xgam.org Sent: Thursday, April 02, 2009 11:40 PM To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Subject: Re: [Audyssey] fallthru advanced stuff Yep, the silver maze indeed is one of them. [Audyssey] Guess I got up on the wrong side of the E-mail Yesterday. Was Re: Where to download mota version 4
Hi folks. Since I sort of opened this can of worms, I will do my best to close it back up again, without making this a long drawn out message that is hard to write and even harder to read. grin First off, I love April Fool pranks, and I did get a kick out of this one Basically, I just snapped yesterday. It is funny what tiny little thing can set a person off at times. I work with a lot of newly blinded folks, teaching them how to use computers and that kind of thing. It just so happened yesterday, I had two clients that were like scared little rabbits when it comes to the computer. In such cases, every little step they can make to use a computer is a wonderful thing. When I saw the post asking where to download Mota Beta four, it was clearly obvious that the individual did not read the e-mail, and went straight to the web site. Like Charles says, one should read all e-mails when a new game or beta comes out. This is true and does make sense. However, Thomas did post a message several days back, discussing the new features in beta four,, so it isn't out of the realm of possibility that someone may have just gone to the website rather than rereading something that was already posted a few days back. When I read that e-mail, a thought occurred to me. What if the person asking the question was like these two clients. They saw a message, went to the web site, looked for the game, couldn't find it, and posted what they thought was a legitimate question? And what if reading a message, no matter how much in fun it was, saying wow they sure fell for the joke didn't they, was enough to make a beginner turn away thinking that people thought them incompetent? Yeah yeah, I know, that sounds silly, and blown way out of proportion. grin But, in my line of work, I have seen it happen before. Like I said though, I know I blew things out of proportion, and I chock it up to having one of those work days that just drive you nuts. I should have never even posted, but since I did, I can't undo the situation. grin All I can do is try and dig myself out of this hole and apologize. Sheepish grin. Ok, snap and message over. grin Game on! Jeremy --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Where to download mota version 4
Hi Jeremy, Oh, I understand where you are coming from, but the point of the joke was to see how many people would fall for it, go read the subject and drive themselves crazy trying to download it, and of course couldn't. That is the entire point of April Fools Day pranks. I remember reading some time before y2k about a radio station who pulled off a really good prank. They told there listeners that the record companies had released information that all music cds released were not y2k ready, and that they could call a certain number to get x number of stickers that made the cds y2k compatible. As you might expect they got thousands of calls for the stickers only to get an automated message wishing them a happy April Fools Day. Thing is the calls kept coming into the radio station weeks after April Fools Day was over, and even the record companies had to fend off thousands of angry callers wanting their stickers right now. In the end the radio station and the record companies had to go public and let everyone know that it was only a prank, not to take it seriously, and assure everyone their cds were indeed y2k ready. Thing is when I read about it I couldn't help but laugh my butt off at how many people got duped. Still the prank was serious enough to cause a wide spread panic, and stores in the listening area noted a huge drop in music sales because of the bogus y2k problem with music cds. Like the radio station involved I find it difficult to believe that many people were duped by such an obvious prank, but several people were fooled. In the end a simple prank back fired big time. Re: [Audyssey] Where to download mota version 4
Hi Wow, that there's quite funny. Another notable one is a friend of ours set his daughters alarm several hours ahead. So when it went off at 8 AM, it was really 4 AM. So she got ready for school, and walked to school at 5 in the morning! As you can guess she was not happy, but it was quite funny. contact details: email: tcwoo...@shaw.ca and others msn: the_conman...@hotmail.com skype: the_conman283 system details: Hp pavillion dv5220CA notebook pc AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology ML-37 2.0 GHZ, 1024 mb DDR ram, Fujitsu 100 gb 4500 RPM Hard Drive, connecsant AC-link audio - Original Message - From: Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Friday, April 03, 2009 7:01 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Where to download mota version 4 Hi Jeremy, Oh, I understand where you are coming from, but the point of the joke was to see how many people would fall for it, go read the subject and drive themselves crazy trying to download it, and of course couldn't. In the end a simple prank back fired big time. sorry but thats going a bit too far, These days you can't be too careful, the girl's life could have been in danger walking out there alone in the dark like that, they should have ended the joke while she was still in the house instead of waiting until she reached school.
