[Audyssey] Question on Kaldobsky games.

2012-02-12 Thread michael barnes

Hey, I was wondering something about the games that Kaldobsky created.
While I was playing a couple of them I was wanting to know if they had
been updated to the full version, or are they still in beta?

Re: [Audyssey] Question on Kaldobsky games.

2012-02-12 Thread dark

Hi michael.

Firstly, the man's name is jeremy! Kaldobski though just as I'm generally
called dark, he's generally called Aprone as well. I only point this out
sinse if I just referd to you as barns it'd probably sound less than
polite.

The actual answer to your question is a little complicated. most of the
games still show up as beta because Aprone hasn't removed the beta warning,
but are highly and completely playable and bug free and therefore should be
considdered as full versions, even though Aprone might go back to them some
day.

These include Towers of war, Daytona, Lunimals, dog who hates toast and
castaways.

Swamp Aprone is working on currently, and isnse not all the features are in
yet and work is still going on I'd say it's beta.

Temporal was a concept demo with an interesting idea, but only a small
amount of work was done on it, there was more to add by way of interface,
missions and the like, and therefore could possibly even be considdered an
alpha game, (one reason why it hasn't got a page in the audiogames.net db as
yet, though I suppose I could put it in as a demo).

Hth.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

I've tried to run the game and when I click on the icon nothing happens at all.
I've tried opening it from the desktop icon that I created, from the directory,

Any ideas will be most welcome.

Hi.
just played the1.8 version of swamp.
The guards seemed to have to shoot a load of zombies at the start of
each match.

there are betwene 1-10 zombies in safe zone, in the storage and supplies ariea.
Before its coman to have zombies outside the walls, but they are inside.
You can't attack them but they can attack you.
I had a fully loaded amo box, with 20 amo on me, I lost all that bar
what was loaded at the time and the zombies are still there.

Also in 1.9, I tried to get a quest.
I got 50 rep, decided to buy amo, got 60 amo, then went out looking
for zombies and the stores.

I killed several of them, but was killed during a quest.
My rep was gone ofcause, mostly, and amo was 40 rounds I had when
last saved though when hitting x it assured me I had 54 rounds.

Hi kerry.

I'd deffinately advise looking at the help pages, they are good
to get an

idea of things.

As to weapons and items, the compare command is a general
overview and might
be useful, but more specifically you might just want to think
about your

personal stratogy and what to do.

If you cast lots of spells, mana regen and equipment that
increases magical
abilities and stats will be helpful. If your more melee based,
then look for

armour.

Generally it's worth knowing what you personally find a good
stratogy and

playing to it, and also seeing what your other equipment does.

You can always carry something around and try it until you see
what works

best for you.

Hi Kerry.

Firstly, make sure to read signs, sinse often they have
directions to

banks,

trainers and other important stuff in towns. If there is no
sign, to find
the bank in any town, just type where bank. Where shop, where
waypoint and
where npc name also work. This will give you a general idea what
direction

something is from your current location rather than step by step
directions
as a sign would, but can still be useful (the where npc command
I find

great

for delivery type missions).

Dark,

The way the gold economy is set up, there's really no effective
way to

have shopkeepers buy items for reasonable gold prices. For all
intents and purposes, it's best to just assume shopkeepers will
never

have the gold to buy anything.

I look at this every now and again to see if I can find a way to

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Shopkeepers in alter was: Re: Alter Aeon
andDisappearing Items

Hi Dentin.

That's fair enough, however I do get a little tired of finding
all these
really interesting misc items and spellcomps, which should really
be able to
give some bennifit, then having to just sac them. I'm indeed
looking forward

to when I get brewing skills just to get some mileage out of such
items, though as thief and mage are my lowest classes that
will be

quite a while.

While I accept that selling to npcs might not work economically
in the game,
it does seem a bit disappointing to kill a major mob, get some
interesting
body parts and such from it and not be able to use them, indeed
I've not got

the corpsecutter skill precisely for this reason.

So, how about an organization, call it the brotherhood of
alchemists or
similar, will give you not gold, but favours in the form of
spells cast on

or for you, in exchange for misc items and spellcomps?

Say each item is worth a certain number of favour points to the
alchemists
depended upon it's level and rarity, and each casting of a spell
costs
favour, perhaps with the option to have that spell in scroll
form for

an additional charge of favour.

This wouldn't put the mages and other npcs who sell spells out of
business,
sinse some people might prefer to pay with gold rather than hunt
down and
carry junk around, and also it would be a nice way for characters
to get
access to certain spells outside the ones they themselves can
cast.

for those like me who enjoy exploring, hunting spellcomps would
also be a

much more fun way than stockpiling gold as well.

For instance, I recently needed a fly spell to explore the djinni
school.
Though I just paid for a scroll with it, I'd have much rather
gone out to
hunt, delivered the goods to the guild and got it that way. There
would also
then be a use for corpsecutter as well even for people without
brewing

skills.

of course this would only cover spellcomps and misc items.
Weapons and
armour wouldn't be of use to such a guild and would therefore
still need to

be donated for other players to use or just sacked.

Perhaps not a major change or expantion to the game, but maybe a
fun one?

Re: [Audyssey] Voices For Swamp

2012-02-12 Thread Kai

Greetings folks.

Five days since my last post, and I currently have 17 male voices and 5
female voices. While this indeed is a good number, I know we can do much
better than that! (We especially need more female voices!)

In my last post, I asserted that it would take about an hour to record, but
made this point without proving the point (if only to myself). I therefore
have recorded my own voice.

I started the process by writing a linear script of phrases corresponding to
the 20 different categories required for Swamp. I then had to calibrate my
new Blue icicle XLR to USB adapter, making sure the gain wasn't too high,
and performing various test to check my levels.

My script contained at least three phrases for each category, but for most
of them I had four. I recorded three iterations of each phrase, then did the
pain grunts.

Net time: 45 minutes. The actual recording time was only 15 minutes. This is
me going to extreme. as I've said, you'll probably have a much smoother
experience than I.

There's nothing holding you back from being a part of one of the best audio
games available to date, folks. all it takes is at most an hour of your
time, a recording setup (even a headset with a suitable microphone would
do), and some creativity.

Jeremy's put in a lot of time and effort into coding this game, for which
people are constantly still placing requests and even demands upon him.
isn't it only fair that, if we expect him to give, we should be willing to
give in return? aprone's dedicated tons of hours into development and
debugging, 15 minutes to an hour isn't really too much to ask when compared
with that.

So come on, folks. Lets get recording. Lets give you the players lots of
choices on what kind of character voice you'd like. Lets give back to a
project that's given us hours and hours of enjoyment.

Greetings List.

I'd just like to take a bit of time to remind you all that Swamp is still
looking for vocal talent contributions. It's been a week since Aprone's
post, and I've so far only got 11 viable voice selections from nine
vocalists. That seems disappointingly few to me, and I'd like to urge
those of you who enjoy Swamp and have been wanting to be a part of it to
take this opportunity and contribute your voice to the project.

It doesn't take much time (an hour at most), and you get the chance to be
a part of one of the most popular games in the Audio Games community.

I'd also like to urge any female list members to contribute their voice,
as we currently only have one viable female selection (two, if I can get
one of the volunteers to resubmit her entry). Time and again I've heard
requests for female voices in Swamp, and I am only able to deliver what
you guys give me to work with.

I tried to add Aprone's original email to this one, but it seems that the
size limit on the list won't let me make such a post. Below, therefore, is
a link to the a discussion forum on Audiogames which contains Aprone's

Hi Dentin.

That's fair enough, however I do get a little tired of finding all these
really interesting misc items and spellcomps, which should really be able
to
give some bennifit, then having to just sac them. I'm indeed looking
forward

to when I get brewing skills just to get some mileage out of such
items, though as thief and mage are my lowest classes that will be
quite a while.

While I accept that selling to npcs might not work economically in the
game,

it does seem a bit disappointing to kill a major mob, get some interesting
body parts and such from it and not be able to use them, indeed I've not
got

the corpsecutter skill precisely for this reason.

So, how about an organization, call it the brotherhood of alchemists or
similar, will give you not gold, but favours in the form of spells cast on
or for you, in exchange for misc items and spellcomps?

Say each item is worth a certain number of favour points to the alchemists
depended upon it's level and rarity, and each casting of a spell costs
favour, perhaps with the option to have that spell in scroll form for
an additional charge of favour.

This wouldn't put the mages and other npcs who sell spells out of
business,

sinse some people might prefer to pay with gold rather than hunt down and
carry junk around, and also it would be a nice way for characters to get
access to certain spells outside the ones they themselves can cast.

for those like me who enjoy exploring, hunting spellcomps would also be a
much more fun way than stockpiling gold as well.

For instance, I recently needed a fly spell to explore the djinni school.
Though I just paid for a scroll with it, I'd have much rather gone out to
hunt, delivered the goods to the guild and got it that way. There would
also

then be a use for corpsecutter as well even for people without brewing
skills.

of course this would only cover spellcomps and misc items. Weapons and
armour wouldn't be of use to such a guild and would therefore still need
to

be donated for other players to use or just sacked.

Perhaps not a major change or expantion to the game, but maybe a fun one?

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Hello Kai, I have no idea how to edit my work using goldwave or Audacity, so
am just going to record it as one file using my Olimpus DM recorder which
has a good mike. The problem I'm having is how do I look at my script and
do the recording without Jaws being picked up on the recording.

Greetings folks.

Five days since my last post, and I currently have 17 male voices and 5
female voices. While this indeed is a good number, I know we can do much
better than that! (We especially need more female voices!)

In my last post, I asserted that it would take about an hour to record,
but made this point without proving the point (if only to myself). I
therefore have recorded my own voice.

I started the process by writing a linear script of phrases corresponding
to the 20 different categories required for Swamp. I then had to calibrate
my new Blue icicle XLR to USB adapter, making sure the gain wasn't too
high, and performing various test to check my levels.

My script contained at least three phrases for each category, but for most
of them I had four. I recorded three iterations of each phrase, then did
the pain grunts.

Net time: 45 minutes. The actual recording time was only 15 minutes. This
is me going to extreme. as I've said, you'll probably have a much smoother
experience than I.

There's nothing holding you back from being a part of one of the best
audio games available to date, folks. all it takes is at most an hour of
your time, a recording setup (even a headset with a suitable microphone
would do), and some creativity.

Jeremy's put in a lot of time and effort into coding this game, for which
people are constantly still placing requests and even demands upon him.
isn't it only fair that, if we expect him to give, we should be willing to
give in return? aprone's dedicated tons of hours into development and
debugging, 15 minutes to an hour isn't really too much to ask when
compared with that.

Below, therefore,
is a link to the a discussion forum on Audiogames which contains Aprone's
original email, as well as some comments and clarifications. Feel free to

Re: [Audyssey] Voices For Swamp

2012-02-12 Thread Kai

Greetings Lori.

Record where ever you like, just use the best microphone you've got. Don't
worry about editing it. I actually don't want people to edit it. I'd like
the editing left up to me.

Someone recorded multiple recordings and then joined them all together so
it'd make one file to fit my criteria. That actually made my work a hundred
times harder, since I then had to compensate for the different clips with
different methods of removing background noise (which is why I want people
to record into one long unedited file).

Basically, hit record, record the entirety of your session, save it, send
it. Let me worry about cutting out all the detritus. If you're worried about
picking up jaws, just read what you have to, then start speaking once jaws
stops talking. I'll edit out any excess material.

[Audyssey] Chillingham question (contains spoilers)

2012-02-12 Thread hear2c
S P O I L E R S

Hi, I've got the Walkthru for Chillingham, and am in the graveyard. I know
there is really no pattern to the keypad puzzle, but am wondering what exactly
I'm trying to do. I hit the right arrow key in several patterns, when I got
the the tone I wanted, I hit the up arrow, and heard a click. There would be a
noise like a ringing bell. I have gotten it up to 3 rings, ie. bhing, bing,
bing, but then it starts beeping at me, and then the pad closes. I have had
the experience of hearing one bing, 2 bings, and 3 bings, but not in that
order. I know there should be a pattern, but I am not sure what I am trying to
do. Also, it eems like hitting the left arrow once, and then hitting the right
arrow once give off different tones. Is that significant?

Re: [Audyssey] Chat Rooms

2012-02-12 Thread Charles Rivard
If you are asking whether you can type instead of talk, yes, but voice
communications are very much preferred, as typed text tends to drown out
microphone users.

Hey, I went to audiogames.net, to download Bobby's Revenge, Egg Hunt,
Pigeon Panic.
But the issue is the links are broken. I am hoping that someone on the
list would give me a copy of the three games listed.
Thanks for anyone that will help!

Re: [Audyssey] Chillingham question (contains spoilers)

2012-02-12 Thread BRYAN PETERSON
I hated that puzzle. There's practically no way to judge what you got
right and what you didn't. So even the correct dings aren't very
helpful. It also doesn't help that the sequence seems to change with
each failure.
