 Hi guys,

First, all my apologies for the mistake I can make because I'm French
 native speaker.

This post to describe a problem I'm facing :

 I've got Win XP
 I've got Gimp 2.6.11
I've got Gimp plugin Resynthesizer downloaded there :
 http://registry.gimp.org/node/9148 I've tried with 3, 6 and more than 11
 Go of swap memory

When I try to use the plugin on a Raw of 20 Mo or a Jpeg of 4 Mo I get
 the following error message :

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library : Runtime Error.
 program : c:\...\resynth.exe
This application hes requested the Runtime to terminate it in a unusual
way. Please contact the program support team (or peezee) to get some
 help.

But it's OK for jpeg with a lower size (about 800 width)

I'm wondering what I can do to solve this issue (hardware upgrade,
 software upgrade...).

how much Physical memory?

Could try to re-install / upgrade Visual C++ Runtime Library, if that fails
try an older version of resynthesizer (older than april 2011, see below) If
that fails, or provides more info, contact the packager of Resynthesizer and
see what they recommend, perhaps its a bug, perhaps its a feature.

Apparently the person maintaining the source code took over in April and
made some significant changes to the way the program was coded. (rewritten in
C and Python, in Gimp style, etc) At least at that time, were not the one
packaging the windows binaries. You may need to contact both.

You might also try the forums at Gimp Plugin Registry.

good luck

Yes. A template currently isn't a full image, just the basic
characteristics like Width, Height, and (possibly, don't remember for
sure) Fill . Until such time as full XCF templates are implemented, I
suggest instead making the base body map, copying the XCF you just made,
and finally creating a custom launcher which passes the path of that XCF
to GIMP. Then every time you needed to create a new record, use that
launcher. That way you would immediately have that base XCF loaded,
ready to make a modified version from, each time you start GIMP.

Also, once you make this stock xcf file, remember change the permissions to
read only so you will be forced to use save as when creating a newrecord
from it.

When I click their download link, I'm directed to sourceforge, ie. the
official download. Also, I tried turning off Adblock Plus and I still
see only one small advertisement at the very bottom of the page (where
do they claim that GIMP is ad supported?)

I don't think they are breaking the license in any way, although they
should of course note that http://www.gimp.org is the official home
page. They do however link to gimp.org some places.

 (I'm not at all endorsing gimp.us.com, but I don't think they're doing
anything illegal, nor do I see signs of adware.)

 Here is the offending page:
 http://www.gimp.us.com/free-photo-editor/disclaimer.php

I see no mention of the GPL or links to download the source code for GIMP on
that page (or on http://dl.gimp.us.com/) . If their installer is providing
the executable from their own repository then they are supposedly required
to do this. (Perhaps these links are available in the installer?)

I believe the FSF provides enforcement of GPL related complaints.

http://www.gimp.us.com/ is providing an installer which is the service and
software they take responsibility for. They do not claim authorship of
GIMP, but the way they choose to distribute it seems (to me) to fail to
comply w/ the GPL.

If anyone has tried this installer, and not had source code offered upon
request (for GIMP, not the installer) then I would suggest they contact the
FSF or GIMP developers.

Don't expect that I can help, but have you explored the idea that it could
be X11 related rather than gimp?
Well, sort of. The stylus becomes less responsive, for some
reason. For example, if I draw a series of consecutive lines,
every third or fourth one will not appear, as if the stylus has
stopped working or something.

I Use Ubuntu 11.04 and Gimp 2.6.11 and I don't experience these
problems with my Wacom Bamboo One, it works fine with pressure.

Mine was fine too. I'm asking for help to figure out how to debug why
  that changed.

You could try using your tablet w/ krita or mypaint, both of which have good
support for wacom devices and pressure. If those fail in the same way then
look at X11, (or Ubuntu and its derivitives in general) as the source of the
problem

Also try your tablet using a live cd/dvd of your prefered distro to see if
the problem occurs there as well.

I'm running Windows XP, and my current install of The Gimp is 2.6.10.

Is there a simple step I'm forgetting to do?

I'm not familiar with that model but as a start

first
Does the tablet behave as a mouse in gimp? (ie draws but no pressure)

second
Have you checked the settings in Gimps
Edit - Preferences - Input Devices - Configure Extended Input Devices?
the dropdown in this config window should show your device. If it does then
you can modify the devices parameters there.

That's about all the help I can give you, I don't use windows and have no
idea if Gimp has any requirements not provived by that device.

Good luck,
