[visualization-api] pie-chart hell

2020-05-19 Thread Mike L
Hi,

I am trying to display a pie chart in a generated report.

The code currently used displays X / 100 (38 /100)

[pagespeed.average.desktop] / 100 [/remove-if-empty]

 gives me
string(27) "38"

So I try to make the pie-chart like this

 https://www.gstatic.com/charts/loader.js";>  // Load google charts google.charts.load('current',
{'packages':['corechart']}); google.charts.setOnLoadCallback(drawChart);
 // Draw the
chart and set the chart values function drawChart() { var data =
google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([ ['Work', ],
['test', 100], ]); // Optional; add a title and set the width and height of
the chart var options = {'title':'My Average Day', 'width':550,
'height':400}; // Display the chart inside the
element with id="piechart" var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('piechart')); chart.draw(data, options); } But nothing shows If I try My Web Page https://www.gstatic.com/charts/loader.js";> // Load google charts google.charts.load('current', {'packages':['corechart']}); google.charts.setOnLoadCallback(drawChart); // Draw the chart and set the chart values function drawChart() { var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([ ['Task', 'Hours per Day'], ['Work', ], ['Eat', ], //['TV', ], //['Gym', ], //['Sleep', ] ]); // Optional; add a title and set the width and height of the chart var options = {'title':'My Average Day', 'width':550, 'height':400}; // Display the chart inside the
element with id="piechart" var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('piechart')); chart.draw(data, options); } It shows only 100% (red circle) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Visualization API" group. Re: [visualization-api] Need help with line charts.

2019-07-30 Thread Mike Higgins
For "how-to" stuff contact Google Support. You can talk with them by phone
- there's an option for them to call you.
If it's a glitch in the program, you need to use the feedback option. You
can add a screenshot and even highlight the problem area.
FYI - last night Google did fix the problems with the mouse hover and being
able to edit charts without having everything go back to default.
Last time I checked they still had not fixed the sum across sheets formula
problem. I sent them another feedback with a screenshot. Hopefully they
will fix that soon as well.

Google Support's (GS) continued attempts to mollify its customers by
providing "how to" links instead of addressing the customers' specific
complaints that *GOOGLE SHEETS NO LONGER WORKS* only serves to further
aggravate said customers.

The fact that the GS members I have spoken to do not even have a Sheets
program to work with so they can see for themselves the MANY malfunctions
that the Sheets program is now saddled with - nor do they apparently have
any experience with Google Sheets at all - is absolutely infuriating.

It is painfully obvious that GS is nothing more than a hand-holding
operation that lacks any expertise or knowledge to understand program
malfunctions, or any power to get them repaired. It is just as obvious that
Google has not only no intention of making this MAJOR MALFUNCTION a
priority, they won't even admit the problem exists - despite countless
forum members' posts describing the exact same issues.

It's ironic that it's the GS experience, not the Sheets problem, that has
tainted *everything* Google for me.
I'm thinking *nothing* Google is the way to go.

One thing's for sure, GS is a complete FAIL.

Sincerely!

Yeah, you're preaching to the choir now. One thing that Google help had me
do was sign out of Google to see if that would work - which it didn't, but
after thinking about it I realized I didn't sign out of Google on all my
devices. I wonder if that would make a difference. I was going to try and
do that tonight.

I spoke with Google on the phone yesterday. After having me try several
different things she told me to just wait one or two days to see if it
would fix itself. Very disappointing.
And it's not just a problem with charts. I also cannot sum across sheets
anymore.

Re: [visualization-api] Re: Possible Bug: Google Sheet's Charts changing colors randomly

2019-07-23 Thread Mike Higgins
I noticed a google update has recently occured (the palat color selectors
for Sheets are now round instead of square) so, pretty sure everything went
to hell after that.
Multiple problems, including having to mouse over published charts to make
them visible, unable to edit series without re-formatting all data points,
data points disappear when new ones are added, it's just horrible...major
Google screwup.

[visualization-api] Formating data point removes all other data points

2019-07-23 Thread Mike Higgins
All I want to do is change the color of the bar of a specific data point, and
when I do all the other data points disappear. This worked no problem two weeks
ago, but now the whole thing's messed up. I've worked many hours on this
project, now it looks like the whole thing was for nothing. I hate Google with
a passion.

I have the same problem.
And now I can't even edit individual data points.
Google sucks.

[visualization-api] How to customize Gantt Chart X-axis?

2019-06-11 Thread mike haberman
Is there anyway to print non date information on the x axis for gantt
charts? I am using it to build a schedule for a class I teach and I would
like everything to be in weeks (eg Week 1, Week 2, Week 3) so it's
independent of specific dates.

Unless Google provides some kind of support for this, I am thinking my only
option is to hack into the DOM and change the the output of the nodes that
represent the x axis. I hope there is an easier/cleaner way.

thanks

[visualization-api] Charts using viewWindowMode "Pretty" look great in v45.2 but poor with v46

2018-10-13 Thread Mike M
A number of my charts use haxis viewWindowMode "pretty" but they all are
now ugly in V46.

The attached sample shows the very poor fit of the data to the h-axis with
lots of empty space.

This sample also shows far fewer major gridlines and related axis markers.
I could not figure out any method to restore the once/month gridlines in V46

I am open to making changes to the chart coding but couldn't find any
combination that looked nice. Removing "pretty" mostly helps but then data
extends beyond the edges of some charts which I'd rather not have.

[visualization-api] Filters not displaying properly outside of localhost

2018-02-06 Thread Mike Shaw
Hello,
I have several charts that work fine when running on my local machine but
stop rending NumberRangerFilter and the CategoryFilter (and others). I've
gone so far as to load the examples from this page:
https://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/controls onto
my server just to test it to no avail.

Please see the pictures below. In the first picture the "Age Filter" shows
correctly as a slider, but in the second picture, with the exact same code
(but launched from my web server) the Age Filter shows as text. Any
thoughts as to why this might occur?
Thank you!

Here's the code--as I mentioned, it just copied and pasted from the Google
Charts site because I thought it might be my own code that was the issue.
But it's consistent.

At this point, it seems there still isn't a way to move the legend in the
Material Design version. If not, can I simply not display the legend in the

[visualization-api] Geochart how to stop calls to geocoding when redrawing chart

2017-05-17 Thread 'Mike Bradley' via Google Visualization API
Hi

I have a geochart on my webpage that has a datatable that contains approx
2000 rows. I have a select input that when the value changes the datatable
is refreshed and then i call the draw method to redraw the chart.
However the issue i have is that once i have selected option from my select
input ( the chart is redrawn) - the new datapoints are not added to the
chart until after all the other geocode requests have completed for the
previous chart(which is now not visible).
Is there a way once i have redrawn the chart to stop any existing geocode
requests that relate to the chart that i am getting rid of?

--included on page
https://www.gstatic.com/charts/loader.js";>

--declared at top of page in document ready function
google.charts.load('current', { 'packages': ['geochart','map'] });

--when ajax call (called when select list option is changed) returns i
call:

google.charts.setOnLoadCallback(drawMap);

--the drawMap function then has following code:

var chart = new
google.visualization.GeoChart(document.getElementById('myDivId'));
chart.draw(dataView, geoChartOptions);

[visualization-api] Google ChartEditor to open up on the “Customize” tab

2016-08-01 Thread Mike Pala
Hi Everyboday,

I have a very simple script that opens up the Google ChartEditor for a
chart:

 function loadEditorG1() {
chartEditorG1 = new google.visualization.ChartEditor();
google.visualization.events.addListener(chartEditorG1, 'ok', redrawChartG1);
chartEditorG1.openDialog(wrapperG1, {});   }
function redrawChartG1(){
  wrapperG1 = chartEditorG1.getChartWrapper();
  wrapperG1.draw();}

How can I make the loadEditorG1() function open up the editor *on the
"Customize" tab*? By default Google ChartEditor opens up on the "Start" tab.

Currently it causes the graph to zoom in and out. I just want the page to

[visualization-api] Google Timeline obeying 'style' column

2015-09-02 Thread Mike O'Connell
Has anyone gotten 'style' columns to work for timelines or have any idea
when they're going to be?

As per the snippet below:

console.log(google);
google.load("visualization", "1.1", {
packages: ["timeline"]
});
google.setOnLoadCallback(drawMap);

function drawMap() {
chart = new
google.visualization.Timeline(document.getElementById('map_div'));

loadData();
}

function selected() {
val = chart.getSelection()[0];
console.log(dataTable.getValue(val.row, 5));
}

function loadData() {
dataTable = new google.visualization.DataTable();

dataTable.addColumn({ type: 'string', id: 'President' });
dataTable.addColumn({ type: 'string', id: 'Name' });
dataTable.addColumn({ type: 'string', id: 'Tooltip', role: 'tooltip',
'p': {'html': true} });
dataTable.addColumn({ type: 'date', id: 'Start' });
dataTable.addColumn({ type: 'date', id: 'End' });
dataTable.addColumn({ type: 'number', id: 'ID', role: 'hidden' });
*dataTable.addColumn({ type: 'string', role: 'style' });*

dataTable.addRows([
[ 'Washington', 'prezi', 'sometool\'s
tip', new Date(1789, 3, 30), new Date(1797, 2, 4), 1, *'color:
green'* ],
[ 'Adams', 'prezi', 'sometool\'s
tip',  new Date(1797, 2, 4),  new Date(1801, 2, 4), 2, *'color:
red'* ],
[ 'Jefferson', 'prezi', 'sometool\'s
tip',  new Date(1801, 2, 4),  new Date(1809, 2, 4), 3, *'color:
blue'* ]]);

var options = {
avoidOverlappingGridLines: false,
tooltip: { isHtml: true },
timeline: { barLabelStyle: {fontName: "arial", fontSize: "8" }}
};
google.visualization.events.addListener(chart, 'select', selected);

chart.draw(dataTable, options);
}

If it's not supported can I make the feature request at the same time?

[visualization-api] Timeline not obeying options.timeline.barLabelStyle

2015-09-02 Thread Mike O'Connell
We've generated a jsfiddle for creating a
timeline: http://jsfiddle.net/wfjzkddg/2/

If you note the bar font is not obeying the fontSize as prescribed in the
options, however the bar does resize accordingly.

Upon inspection of the SVG the text component does indeed reflect the
font-family and font-size as per the options but the rendered SVG doesn't
show it.

Anyone else encountered this? How can we fix it?

[visualization-api] Is there a way to highlight a slice of a 3d Pie Chart without a legend?

If you hover the API legend, the corresponding slice in a pie chart

ie. if the user clicks or hovers on a certain element?

I tried using setselection, which works fine for 2d pie charts, but has no

[visualization-api] Passing a Datetime That Spans More Than One Month into Google Visualization Line Graph

2015-04-01 Thread Mike Dorfman
Hello,

I've tried to figure this out on my own, and was wondering if anyone could
shed any light on the bug that I'm seeing in my page. Last night when the
month changed, something odd happened to all the continuous graphs on my
page and I have a feeling it has to do with the date I'm passing to the
graph. I'm passing 24 hours of temperature data via JSON and declaring a
column of type datetime like so:

temperatureHistory: [

[
{
id: Day,
type: datetime
},
T,
{
role: tooltip
},
DP,
{
role: tooltip
},
WC,
{
role: tooltip
}
],

[
   Date(2015, 03, 31, 22, 00, 00),
3.1,
22:00 Temperature: 3.1°F,
-19.7,
22:00 Dew Point: -19.7°F,
-23.6,
22:00 Wind Chill: -23.6°F
],
[
Date(2015, 03, 31, 23, 00, 00),
2.7,
23:00 Temperature: 2.7°F,
-18,
23:00 Dew Point: -18°F,
-24.3,
23:00 Wind Chill: -24.3°F
],
[
Date(2015, 04, 01, 00, 00, 00),
3.1,
00:00 Temperature: 3.1°F,
-14.1,
00:00 Dew Point: -14.1°F,
-23.6,
00:00 Wind Chill: -23.6°F
],
[
Date(2015, 04, 01, 01, 00, 00),
4,
01:00 Temperature: 4°F,
-6.9,
01:00 Dew Point: -6.9°F,
-22.3,
01:00 Wind Chill: -22.3°F
],
[
Date(2015, 04, 01, 02, 00, 00),
4.4,
02:00 Temperature: 4.4°F,
-5.3,
02:00 Dew Point: -5.3°F,
-21.9,
02:00 Wind Chill: -21.9°F
],

...

For some reason, my graph is not displaying properly. Since the data is 24
hours from start to end, I've had issues in the past with using a time
instead of a datetime label for the x-axis, and this issue seems to be
related.It seems like google visualization is ignoring the 'month' part
of the date and only interpreting the hours part of the date. The data is
currently displaying in such a way that everything before midnight is
graphed immediately after midnight. See below to see what the graph looks
like. The blue arrow represents that where that data should be located:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pDVSueyD5mA/VRvkI1IN0JI/ABE/4qMud2Lx3Zw/s1600/Capture.PNG
You can find the graphs here: http://xmountwashington.appspot.com/csc.html
and the data is located
here: http://xmountwashington.appspot.com/csc.php?size=small

Please note that that server has a viewWindow that cuts data off data ( eg
the right axis is located) at the current time. The graph above is what is
seen if I get rid of this viewWindow.

Any thoughts on this? Have there been issues in the past with passing
date() data over JSON that spans more than one month? Is this date() data
being passed to the graphs correctly?

 currently displaying in such a way that everything before midnight is

 You can find the graphs here: http://xmountwashington.appspot.com/csc.html

 Please note that that server has a viewWindow that cuts data off data ( eg
 the right axis is located) at the current time. The graph above is what is

 Any thoughts on this? Have there been issues in the past with passing
 date() data over JSON that spans more than one month? Is this date() data
 being passed to the graphs correctly?

I found the problem. I was passing the date with a month base of 1 and it
was supposed to be a month base of zero (January=0, not 1). I'm not sure
how that would change anything, but once I fixed it, everything was
correct.

Re: [visualization-api] Re: Weird bug with gauges

2015-02-15 Thread Mike Dorfman
I am having the same issue. You can see it happening on this
page:http://xmountwashington.appspot.com/csc.html?refresh=true on the gauge
chart in the middle of the page. Sorry, it's a little convoluted, but
basically every time the data is refreshed and the gauge is redrawn (every
one minute), it shrinks a tiny bit. This adds up until it gets so small it
disappears, then reappears after a certain amount of time, just to start
the cycle over again. I set the height to 100%, and one of its parents has
a set vh height. I'm using IE and Windows 7.

Thanks,
Mike

[visualization-api] Re: Example code for tooltips in a table chart

2014-10-16 Thread Mike

 Hi Andrew,

 I corrected the quotes as you suggested and my span title is now showing
the full string, thank you!

I appended the addListener code to the function handleQueryResponse() so
that it looks like:

function handleQueryResponse2(response) {

if (response.isError()) {

  alert('Error in query: ' + response.getMessage() + ' ' + response.
getDetailedMessage());
  return;

}

// Draw the visualization.
var data2 = response.getDataTable();
var chart2 = new google.visualization.Table(document.getElementById(
'mike_div'));

for (var i = 0; i  data2.getNumberOfRows(); i++) {
for (var j = 0; j  data2.getNumberOfColumns(); j++) {
var formattedValue = data2.getFormattedValue(i, j);
var Test = Testing;
var testText = Test +   + Row -  + i;
data2.setFormattedValue(i, j, 'span title=' + '' + testText + ''
+ '' + formattedValue + '/span');
}
}

chart2.draw(data2, {allowHtml: true});

google.visualization.events.addListener(chart2, 'ready', function () {

 $('span[title]').qtip();

 });

}

Sadly this is not getting picked up by qtip and the tooltip is just the
standard formatting. I tried changing it to $('[title]').qtip(); but it
made no difference.

If you have any further suggestions then I am all ears. Don't worry if not,
I will live with the standard tooltip.

Thanks again for your help

[visualization-api] Re: Example code for tooltips in a table chart

2014-10-10 Thread Mike
Hi Andrew,

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, thank you for your offer.

The final objective for my table is that when a user hovers over a specific
row, a tooltip is produced that will change depending on the row selected
(which will be derived from a MYSQL query). However, I'm keeping it simple
to begin in an attempt to get it working.

My datatable is pulled from a an external query that results in a JSON
output. Following guidance that you and another expert had included in
other threads I included the following code:

// Draw the visualization.

var data2 = response.getDataTable();

var chart2 = new google.visualization.Table(document.getElementById(
'mike_div'));

//Cycle through each row and add a span and title
for (var i = 0; i  data2.getNumberOfRows(); i++) {
for (var j = 0; j  data2.getNumberOfColumns(); j++) {
var formattedValue = data2.getFormattedValue(i, j);

   // Tooltip message. Currently show message and row number
   var testText = This will ultimately be replaced with the result
of a MYSQL query...but I want to walk before I run! Row -  + i;

data2.setFormattedValue(i, j, 'span title='+ testText +'' +
formattedValue + '/span');

}
}

chart2.draw(data2, {allowHtml: true});

I then have the following code to try to activate the tooltip using the
Qtip2 library:

body

  !-- jQuery FIRST i.e. before qTip (and all other scripts too usually) --
  script type=text/javascript src=/js/jquery.min.js/script

  !-- Include either the minifed or production version, NOT both!! --
  script type=text/javascript src=/js/jquery.qtip.js/script

  script type=text/javascript

// Create the tooltips only when document ready
$(document).ready(function () {
//Set qtip for a href's. This works so will be used to check this
code is working
$('a').qtip();

//Set qtip for anything with a span title...this code is likely wrong
$('span[title]').qtip();

});

/script

There are two issues with this:

1 - The qtip tooltip isn't working over the table. It does work for my a
href code that is outside of the google visualisation.
2 - As I've used title in the span, hovering over the row does result in
a standard formatted tooltip, however it only displays the first word.
Inspecting the element (see attachment) shows that the quotations marks are
just around the first word.

Kind regards,

Mike

[visualization-api] Example code for tooltips in a table chart

2014-10-09 Thread Mike
Dear all,

I am looking at including a tooltip for each row within a google table. I
understand that there is no tooltip functionality built into the table
visualisation and that I would therefore need to code my own. From
searching through this forum I have found a couple of articles that discuss
this (the most notable being
https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/google-visualization-api/yc3DU997Dx0),

however after trying to follow this and using a tooltip library (Qtip2) my
struggles have been fruitless.

Can anyone share with me some code that they have used to create tooltips
in a table visualisation please? (it can be with any tooltip library, I'm
not beholden to Qtip2).

Yours in hope

Mike

Scatter gives me trendlines, but lacks a bubble size variable.

Is there a way to (or can Google) add a variable for element size in the

ideas? BTW, D3 provides bubble sizes and we created trendlines BUT it
lacked a 300DPI printing option, so we switched to Google Charts...no

 ideas? BTW, D3 provides bubble sizes and we created trendlines BUT it
 lacked a 300DPI printing option, so we switched to Google Charts...no
 perfect solution!

[visualization-api] Re: ScatterChart with varying point size

2014-07-16 Thread Mike Hogan
Sam did you find a solution or post a feature request? I am also looking
for this capability.

 You can sort-of accomplish this using the new emphasis feature to change

   IIRC,
 all emphasized points will render the same size, though, so it may not be
 quite what you are looking for.

[visualization-api] Clickable tooltips for geocharts

2014-03-21 Thread Mike Maciag
I'm putting together a Geocharts map with different regions shaded. I'd
like to configure it so that the tooltips display when they're clicked.
With the default setting, they're only shown on hover, so it's not possible
to include links and other content in the tooltips that can be copied or
clicked.

From the geocharts documentation, I don't see a tooltip.trigger option
setting for this. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

[visualization-api] Combo chart series clustering at hAxis points rather than overlapping

2013-12-08 Thread Mike Soja
The Combo chart has been up for months, but the last week or so began
rendering differently.

A candlestick series and line series run off the left axis, and bars off
the right axis. The x axis is a range of dates. Previously, the points of
each series were centered over the date marks, but now they cluster around
the date mark, with the line point centered above the mark, and the two
other points to each side.

If I set isStacked:true, they line up again, but are stacked,
unsurprisingly.

num_format.format(data,1);
num_format.format(data,2);
num_format.format(data,3);

... but shouldn't I be able to do something like...

var num_format = new

num_format.format(data,{1,2,3});

Is it possible?

[visualization-api] Table chart export data selected with control to CSV

2013-03-31 Thread Mike
Is it possible to export the data from a Table chart wrapper that has
been manipulated by a control (attached to the table through a dashboard)
to a CSV file? I've looked into the visualization-datasource libraries to
handle remote data source queries however I'm not certain these will
actually handle a request made to data that has been dynamically
manipulated by a Control object by the client when the client chooses
export to CSV. The reason I'm skeptical is currently the client chooses a
CSV return via the Google Chart Toolbar drop down and this appears to
only support static URLs, unless there is Javascript appending parameters
onto the URL set in the Google Chart Toolbar options.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

[visualization-api] GStatic Mapfiles not being loaded from https

2013-01-19 Thread George Mike
Hello,

I'm trying to use the visualization API from within a chrome extension
using manifest version 2, which has stricter restrictions on resources that
can be loaded. I'm doing:

script type=text/javascript src=https://www.google.com/jsapi;/script
script

  google.load('visualization', '1', {
packages: ['corechart', 'geochart'],
callback : function() {
  handleChartsLoaded();
}
  });
/script

...and I'm getting these errors in the console:

Refused to load the script '
http://www.gstatic.com/charts/geochart/7/mapfiles/world_COUNTRIES.js'
because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive:
script-src https://www.google.com/ 'unsafe-eval'.

How do I force https resources to be loaded?

Thanks,
George

[visualization-api] Invalid 2D Array in IE

2012-11-23 Thread Mike H
Hi!

I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I'm attempting to utilize Google
Visualization API's for a world map, with a php script and HTML/Javascript
to show how many hits we have recieved and mapping to a heat map on the map.

What I have works in Chrome and Firefox, but does not work in IE,
unfortunately I want this presented in a Sharepoint iFrame which uses IE by
default :(

The PHP portion works so I dont think I need to paste that in here, but
here is the compiled HTML source that doesnt appear to be working out in IE
only.

html

  head

script type='text/javascript'
src='https://www.google.com/jsapi'/script

script type='text/javascript'

 google.load('visualization', '1', {'packages': ['geochart']});

 google.setOnLoadCallback(drawRegionsMap);

  function drawRegionsMap() {
var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([
['Country','Blocks'],
  ['Japan', 11],
['United States', 45],
['Argentina', 1],
['Brazil', 1],
['Bosnia and Herzegovina', 1],
['Germany', 4],
['France', 2],
['Russia', 5],
['China', 24],
['Thailand', 1],
['New Zealand (Aotearoa)', 1],
['Turkey', 1],
['Korea (South)', 6],
['Panama', 2],
['Taiwan', 6],
['Canada', 14],
['Luxembourg', 1],
['United Kingdom', 1],
['Philippines', 1],
['Singapore', 3],
['Switzerland', 2],
['Hong Kong', 2],
]);

var options = {
backgroundColor : '#25383c',
colors : ['#FF', '#FF']
};

var chart = new
google.visualization.GeoChart(document.getElementById('chart_div'));
chart.draw(data, options);
};
/script
  /head
  body
div id=chart_div style=width: 900px; height: 500px;/div
  /body
/html

Any thoughts on what may be happening? I didn't call var chart more than
once which I saw was a resolution for someone else in the group.

[visualization-api] Re: Invalid 2D Array in IE

2012-11-23 Thread Mike H
Sorry, let me rephrase this.

The page presents just a white page when viewed in IE. In Chrome and
Firefox it presents the world map with associated colours that I wanted
based upon amount of hits.

When debugging in IE9, I get the error stating Invalid 2D Array

[visualization-api] Value Changes

2012-11-08 Thread Mike Aitken
Hi all,

New to this game and slowly teaching myself, I need some help. On this
pagehttps://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/animation there
is an example called value changes where you can select between tea or
coffee, when I paste the code over to my html editor it doesn't work. I'm
missing code, but being new I don't know what parts.

Can anyone help me out and provide the full html code so I can figure out
how this chart works?

Thanks in advance.

[visualization-api] Beginner Question - Why won't my chart display in an HTML Webpage?

2012-09-19 Thread Mike
Quick question here. I've been trying to figure it out for about an hour
now but haven't gotten anywhere (and getting a bit frustrated since I
thought this was going to be the easy part). I finished making my first
visualization using Google's API, and I am trying to figure out how to
insert the javascript into the html. I've been looking into examples, and
it all matches up, but mine still doesn't want to display.

Here is my code.. and thank you for any and all help!

[visualization-api] How to populate data array for a dashboard?

2012-09-18 Thread Mike
Hi, I'm very new to using visualization in general (I'm taking a class on
it and we have our first project due soon). I have a ton of values in a
google docs speadsheet and I'm wondering if there is a simple way to
populate the arrayToDataTable? As of right now I'm entering all the values
manually, but there has to be an easier way..right?

Thanks in advance!

[visualization-api] Specifying groups for a LineChart

2012-09-14 Thread Mike Fowler

I am currently trying to figure out how to make a line chart out of the
following where the x-axis is the 'Date' column, the y-axis is '# of API
Calls', and the chart contains three lines, one each for the unique entries
in 'Category'. I've been pouring through the API documentation but can't
seem to find the right combination of functions to achieve this. Any help
would be HUGELY appreciated.

[visualization-api] Selected value in an Annotated TimeLine

Im new to the Google Charts API,

I have an Annotated TimeLine, and I want it so that when the user

run though.

var annotatedtimeline = new
google.visualization.AnnotatedTimeLine(document.getElementById('visualization'));
annotatedtimeline.draw(data, {'displayAnnotations': true, 'thickness':
3});
google.visualization.events.addListener(annotatedtimeline,'select',
function() {
var selection = annotatedtimeline.getSelection()[0];
console.log(selection);
   }
);

That is my code, any help is appreciated, thanks.
(also, is it possible to make the dot bigger?)

[visualization-api] Subtle difference in display of sample annotated time line

2011-04-13 Thread mike
I am seeing a difference between what I see when trying out the google
code playground:
http://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/?type=visualization#annotated_time_line
and when I cut'n'paste the code and load the javascript page. In
particular, the labels (A and B) are not showing up on the chart when
I run the code locally vs seeing the results in the output section of
the playground.

Any ideas why there is this difference? I like the labels being on the
graph.

[visualization-api] Display break lines in a spreadsheet

Hi,

I tried the spreadsheet gadget on the following page:

And here's the sample spreadsheet I used as the database:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?hl=enkey=tZlMUSdx-fqyNmQoWvuOB7Ahl=en#gid=0

But the problem is the gadget doesn't display the break lines and puts
all the lines one after the other.
I wonder what I need to change in the gadget code.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

[visualization-api] Re: Drag and Drop chart disappears

2011-03-08 Thread Mike
I've run into similar issues with drag and drop. Have you looked into
using ajax to redraw the chart anytime it's moved? This way you don't
have to reload the whole page and it only reloads the ones it needs.
We use the same layout you described to display charts and allow users
to move them around their dashboard. We already used ajax to display
the charts so it was simple extension to redraw anytime they were
moved. Depending on the data passed into the include file you might
be able to implement an ajax call that gets the contents of your
include file. I imagine the DD plug-in you're using has an event hook
you can use to call the ajax function (we've been using the plugin
from JQuery UI).
Hope this helps! Good luck!

 Is there a way to overcome this fairly easily?  What am I doing

 an include statement?

 Thanks for any help.

[visualization-api] Re: Retrieve, Update, and Delete Spreadsheet Cell Comment(s)

2010-01-19 Thread Mike A
Thanks for the response. If you create a Spreadsheet and right-click
on a cell, you can add a comment (just like in excel). What I am
asking for is if there is a way to retrieve these comments (on a per
cell basis) using this API. Obviously the DataTable object does not
allow me to do this, but is there some one way? The properties of the
cell does not contain the comment.

I understand that the DataTable is meant to be a generic object, so I
might be looking in the wrong place. What I wanted was a gadget that
can read cell comments as I have a spreadsheet that relies heavily on
them.

[visualization-api] Re: Motion Chart not working in IE 7

2009-05-13 Thread Mike Balogh
Thanks Robert. Sorry, but I do have that...that was just a slight mistype
in my example. I'm really sorry I didn't copy and paste the code.

Here's my code:

*function gotoPage(url)
{
window.top.location.href = url;
}

google.load('visualization', '1', {'packages': ['geomap']});
google.setOnLoadCallback(drawMap);

function drawMap() {

var data = new google.visualization.DataTable();
data.addRows(35);
data.addColumn('string', 'Country');
data.addColumn('number', 'Amount');
data.setValue(0, 0, Afghanistan);
data.setValue(0, 1, 1);
data.setValue(1, 0, Algeria);
data.setValue(1, 1, 4);
data.setValue(2, 0, Australia);
data.setValue(2, 1, 11);
data.setValue(3, 0, Austria);
.
.
.
data.setValue(33, 0, Vietnam);
data.setValue(33, 1, 1);

var options = {};
options['dataMode'] = 'regions';
options['region'] = 'world';
options['showLegend'] = true;

if(options['dataMode'] == markers)
{
options['showZoomOut'] = true;
options['zoomOutLabel'] = View All Nations;
}

var container = document.getElementById('country_map');
var geomap = new google.visualization.GeoMap(container);
geomap.draw(data, options);
google.visualization.events.addListener(geomap, 'zoomOut',
function() {
gotoPage(country.html);
});
google.visualization.events.addListener(geomap, 'regionClick',
function(e) {
gotoPage(country.html?country_code= + e['region']);
});

};

*

My friend confirmed for me it works in IE 7 last night so that's good. I'm
still having trouble with it in IE 8 though.

Thanks!

Mike

[visualization-api] Help a beginner?

2009-04-16 Thread Mike

Is there help for a beginner who wants to make a Custom Gadget for a
Google Visualization (bar graph) that hooks into a Google Spreadsheet
which is not public? I've spent tons of time trying to make sense out
of the documentation, and I just can't figure it out.

Hoping there are more resources for someone at my level of
understanding of this stuff. Thanks.

[visualization-api] Re: Parse XML GXml

2008-11-14 Thread Mike Glen

you need to get the text node that is a child of data_id then get its value
you prob need to try something like:

dataId[0].firstChild.nodeValue

p00kie wrote:
 Anyways. I'm not sure what the problem is.

 501 function initialize() {
 502 if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) {
 503 GDownloadUrl(../output/search/
 results.xml, function(data) {
 504 var xml = GXml.parse(data);
 505 var dataId =
 xml.documentElement.getElementsByTagName(data_id);
 506 alert(dataId[0].getAttribute());

 I believe that line 506 should work and print out the data that I
 want. I know there's nothing wrong with line 503 and 504. Either
 something is wrong in 505 or 506.

 getting the attribute of dataId[0] should not be printing out null...

 Hi VizGuy,

 Actually what I am doing totally has to do with the Google
 Visualization API.

 1. I am using GXml in place of XMLHttpRequest as per Google's sample
 code:http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/services.html
 2. Don't look at it as something for the Google Maps API (although
 essentially the maps portion is a gadget of the google visualization
 api).
 3. This is a read in of an xml file (a.k.a. reading in a file source).

 I'm sure many others are doing the same sort of thing if not similar.
 I would like to figure out this method without PHP.

getAttribute wont work as the element data_id5310482/data_id does
