[H] TBird/Yahoo help sought?

2010-03-27 Thread DSinc

My isp is ATT. They use Yahoo as their email support/provider.
Recently, after an extended local ATT outage (7 hours), I decided to log
into the web-based ATT/Yahoo portal. Shocked I was.

Somehow 22 HWG emails were living in my "Spam" folder!
I got them released to my "Inbox" and have now seen them (finally)
locally via TBird. 1-DOWN!

The scary part is that I was driven through a blizzard of coding choices
about MY Yahoo email. I do believe that I have now stupidly dorked
something up!

All of my current email that contains embedded pix now come as a
text-only sub-frame, and, a new lower sub-frame that contain the
embedded pix.

I'd like to reverse this but do not know HOW?
YES, there was some argument about "sharing" my "pix" with EVERYONE.
I chose NO ONE!
Ideas? Suggestions? Solutions?
TNX,
Duncan

Re: [H] Suggested HTPC Setup

2010-03-27 Thread maccrawj
As said before I stream from my Q6600 PC using PS3Media Server to PS3, netbooks, &
our laptops with good results. DVR wise I simply bite the bullet and pay to download
basic cable/TV content via usenet rather than DVR myself.

Thought there were laws in place about requiring 1394 be made available to customers
that specifically request it? Does not stop the cable co from selectively blanking or
downgrading the quality to the 1394 but sure beats the no-win HDMI/HDCP path.

For hardware, I have both a full server with a 780G chipset and Win 7 and a
stand-alone Acer Aspire Revo. Both are running XBMC and I absolutely love
it. So does my wife.

The one requirement u have that I do not is DVR replacement. That could be
quite tricky depending on what your content sources are. If you are a
satellite TV customer like me you are basically SOL. OTA is the safest bet,
with cable TV it really depends on the company and how amenable your setup
is to CableCard.

Re: [H] suggestions on bridge

2010-03-27 Thread maccrawj
Yeah, I forget how much time I waste in crazy little projects here! I've not bricked
4 of 4 routers since the WRT's hit the scene but looks like a JTAG is a must for
early adopters just-in-case.

Do follow up when you get a feel for the strengths/weaknesses of the bridge, that's
what we're here for eh? ;)

Don't see why you do not simply put DD-Wrt on the Asus? There's more than enough
RAM& ROM 32/8 to run the full feature generic.

LOL, we bought Wii Fit only to discover the floor in our living room has way too much
deflection until additional floor joists are married to the existing. So much for
"fun" exercise!

Interesting review showing a terrible layout and the limitations of trying to have xN
monitors worth of resolution rather than simply scaling across. Each new generation
of video card has struggled to drive single 20" monitors @1600 much less trying to do
3x that.

Personally I'd rather have 1x3 layout that had a single 20"+ middle w/ side views on
L/R 20's. Along the same lines I'd really much rather have it piped Real 3D style to
a pair of projectors w/ polarization glasses projected on a 60" wall.

About the "grown men wanting this is sad, go outside" comment, one does not exclude
the other and there's nothing wrong with adults wanting an immersive gaming
experience like this.

Not sure what you mean about running being more functional, though.

Come on Anthony, if you like to game and have the money a 3 monitor
setup is the greatest single advancement since SLI and arguably
better. The extra real estate on left and right sides means you can
spend less time mousing back and forth getting caught off guard far
less often in a first person shooter. Riding a bike is also very good
advice but I prefer to run because it's more functional. 2 days ago I
went for a 2.5 mile run and lift weights every day. Feel great and
look good too..
