Down for 15 min, still nothing. Should be ServerClient because without servers the clients cant play. Does anyone else think that server ranking points lost on update days should be refunded? If I run an update I could potentially lose 1,440 points. Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source and Counter-Strike: Source Beta Updates Released
Guys, this happens every time. Everyone (clients and servers) rush to get the latest update immediately. We all know it's going to happen, so why not just try to stagger your personal updates for maybe an hour or two+ after the update is released. That'll let the initial rush die down a bit and make the bandwidth more readily available. On Thu, May 27, 2010 at 8:25 PM, Tom Grant aksu...@gmail.com wrote: Holy hell this is taking forever! Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source and Counter-Strike: Source Beta Updates Released
I won't tell anyone the correct way to do it, but I would think we would live a few days without this update. Idea: --Stagger in downloads as the steam client starts (or dedicated servers are notified of updated) --Don't apply the update now, we're going to have 2 different versions of the game running --Wait until a specified time/date and merge the updated files over the existing installations Results: --Everyone gets the update with little confusion --Everyone updates at the same time Shouldn't the GCF format and steam client be able to handle this kind of updating system? I'm not sure why I replied if no one who could change it is reading... :-/ On Thu, May 27, 2010 at 8:33 PM, Shawn P. Zipay digitalz...@gmail.comwrote: Guys, this happens every time. Everyone (clients and servers) rush to get the latest update immediately. We all know it's going to happen, so why not just try to stagger your personal updates for maybe an hour or two+ after the update is released.
