On Windows, from what I can recall FPS is directly linked to CPU usage.
Rates are wrong, including what Левинчук Федор said besides sv_maxcmdrate set
to 0, which is probably your main issue.

For sure:
sv_mincmdrate 33
sv_minupdaterate 33
sv_maxcmdrate 66
sv_maxupdaterate 66

Assuming:
sv_minrate 35000
sv_maxrate 7

Also, try not using the FPS Booster and see if the lag persists.

have an 8 core system and did let windows assign the affinity. everything
was nice and level as for CPU usage prior the the update. After the update
just one single instance or srcds would spike to as much as 85% (of all 8
cores) after assigning srcds just 2 cores (with 2 servers per core) I never
noticed the cpu usage go above 10%, 15% or 18% with no more network time

multithreading maybe it's something that only shows up with you have 8 or

Re: [hlds] Massive TF2 server cpu hike caused by 2010-07-20 update

2010-07-22 Thread Steven Hartland

Thanks for the suggestion Eric, I've restarted a selection of our
most popular publics with a mixture of -threads 1 and -threads 3
and will monitor the results.

It will take ~24 hours to get enough stats to be able to formulate a
meaningful conclusion from, so will report back some time tomorrow.

   Regards
   Steve

Can you try starting your server(s) with -threads 3 or -threads 1 in the command line to see if that fixes the CPU spikes you're
seeing?

I started a server with this command line:

However according to Task Manager it still has 10 or 11 threads just like
the servers started without it. Is that normal?

I use a GSP and do not have my own dedicated server, but I too seem to be
affected by this. My servers are running really bad and I have noticed my
server fps fluctuating wildly between 512 and 64. After opening a ticket
with my GSP they have included information indicating that my server is
using 100% of the core and their suggestion has been to lower the tickrate.

I have not tried disabling my plugins, but I purposely use a few as
 possible
to avoid any kind of performance issues.

[hlds] Alien Swarm srcds.exe binds to primary IP only

2010-07-22 Thread Matthew Lyons
Windows server still seems to be binding only to primary IP and ignores the +ip
command line arg.

Example Command line:

srcds.exe -game swarm -console +ip 203.26.94.120 -port 27315 +maxplayers 4
+exec server.cfg +map asi-jac6-sewerjunction

However typing status in server console produces:

hostname: games.on.net #03
version : 7.1.0.8/7108 4274 secure
udp/ip : 203.26.94.156:27315 os(Windows) type(dedicated)
players : 0 humans, 0 bots (4 max) (hibernating) (unreserved)

Looking back through the console buffer there is also this:

NET_GetBindAddresses found 203.26.94.211: 'Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Etherenet
#3'

Remote queries show the host is up and responding on 203.26.94.156 the primary
IP of the host:

acaila:~ mlyons$ qstat -a2s 203.26.94.156:27315
ADDRESS PLAYERS MAP RESPONSE TIMENAME
203.26.94.156:273150/4 0/0 asi-jac6-sewerjunction 2 / 0 swarm
games.on.net #01

Queries to 120 (set on console) and 211 (reported in console startup) time out.

Also the server is still looking for steam client based on these error messages
in the console:

steamengine.cpp (1610) : Assertion Failed: m_pSteamInterface
Failed to load Steam ServiceServiceStart: failed to startUnknown command
mat_grain_enable

2010-07-22 Thread Nick Turner
Change +ip to -ip

Also recommend adding -nohltv if you're binding quite a few to one IP address
.. auto port assignments overlap after a while and the server won't start.
