HL2 DM already have HUD messages display, but why remove in CS:S DOD:S? I had hear about font definition in HUD messages, but HL2 DM haven't that problem? Also, CS:S have a Center HUD message, so i think it not a font definition problem. In cs 1.6 HUD message can provide many informations, effects to client and it very powerful. In fact most of the switch mentioned in the faq are not absolutely necessary to launch the server (i.e. -maxplayer, -autoupdate, -port, -ip) Because of that I simply assumed WRONGLY (yes.. okay... mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!) that the server would read the mapcyle.txt file and figure out the order from there. The goal of Guest Passes is to enable users who currently own a multi-player game to easily share a temporary trial license with their friends who do not. This will enable new users to try the game risk free and enable you to get your friends online playing with you. As part of this beta we would like to invite all of you, our dedicated server operator community, to participate in the beta. The requirements for the beta are fairly simple: 1) You need Steam, 2) You need to own Day of Defeat: Source. If you are interested in more information on Guest Passes please see the following support link: http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std _adp.php?p_faqid=549 If you are interested in participating in the beta please contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] with your Steam account name. The beta is currently underway and should you choose to participate you will receive notification in the Steam UI once your passes are ready for use. Finally, we should mention that depending on the volume of responses we may cut off participation on a first come first serve basis! Thanks! Go ahead and let that sink in a bit. CS-Nation has the exclusive first interview with Valve's Doug Lombardi about this upcoming addition into the Counter-Strike world. CS-Nation: Many gamers who play CS 1.6 purchased the retail version. CS: Source was sold as part of the Half-Life 2 package. How do you think gamers who purchase your products will react to in-game ads? Doug Lombardi: We believe that gamers are going to expect and accept well-done advertising in games. We want to make sure that advertising does not detract from the game experience, so it is our hope that first time Counter-Strike purchasers will consider it simply as part of the game world. Make sure the network, subnet mask, and ip addresses of both puters is correct. Lets assume a few things for demonstration purposes... the IP addy of the server is 192.168.1.100 and the IP addy of the client is 192.168.1.200. Bring up a command screen on the server and ping the client computer by typing the following command (without the quotes) ping 192.168.1.200. You should receive 4 replies. Next ping the server from the client using the following command ping 192.168.1.100... again, you should receive 4 replies. If you can ping both machines from each other... and the server machine is running hl... and there is a map running on the server... and the server is listening on the same port the client is trying to connect with... and the client is running the same version of hl... and the client is trying to connect on the same port the server is listening on... and you have a valid Steam account...then you should be able to join the game. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Try taking off all addons / mods from your server, restart it and see if he still gets banned or kicked or what ever. Then post the logs again. Since i posted the logs i have rechecked all the possible ban list's and come up with nothing. Also if he restarts steam he can join for a lil while before vac kicks him. of ig he joins then leaves straight away he won't get back in. anyone else think this is strange. Also if there is nothing we can do valve just lost a valuable customer (but aren't customers valuable???) and before you ask i am positive it is a vac ban. i had my host check the logs twice after i had 3 times Ook wrote: He is only VAC banned from your server? I just think it's wrong that again valve has released a product that is unfinished/sub standard and banned someone for just being shit. Also i did check the list on the hlstats website and the user in question is not listed there but is listed in the vac bans section of the control panel. also interestingly he is only vac banned from my server. which i think is extremely wierd becasue a vac ban is system wide is it not? so can some one explain that away for me. and finally a parting shot to all those assholes that said the ban was deserved. But if it does then running media player would take up more CPU then just running a SWF file minimized. when i use it, it boost's my FPS on my win2k server to 500. ---Original Message--- From: David Williams Date: 03/19/06 18:28:02 To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds] Seere Choke/Lag issues i'm interested in how the hell running a swf file in IE can boost the fps of a srcds server.
