Maybe learning about the concept of freezing your code a few weeks

we wouldn't need to sit through the pain of waiting and having to update
for every single change (I believe the Left 4 Dead 2 demo server content

I'm sure this would cause a lot less stress for server admins and for you.

was a Valve employee using a special Syringe gun

 Valve Syringe Gun
 (equipped)
 +15% Damage Done
 +150% Clip Size
 +15% Firing Speed
 On Hit: +15 Health
100% Critical Hit vs Burning Players
 +50 Max Health on Wearer
On Kill: 5 Seconds of 100% Critical Chance
On Hit: 30% Chance to Slow Target
 Fire Retardant (1)
Dmg Taken From Fire Reduced (0.85)
 Speed Boost When Active (1.15)

Just wondering if anyone's ever had issues with a valve employee

 I might
as well just ban the Valve group if this is going to happen.

Well I not so sure this is all setup to stop fake-clients... Seems
 like you
just need to provide a good experience for the end user.. If you
 pass off a
server as full when there is no one in the server this will kill
 your server
over time (redirect servers also). If you use fake clients to add
 maybe a
few players to your player count and have a system to turn off your
 fake
clients when your server has a low population. So people are not so
 much
thinking that they are joining a 'full' server you should still be
 ok from

TF2 is designed to have the best game experience with 24 players.
 So, the
game experience changes with more or less players.

The maximum number of players in TF2 is 32 and it's the server
 admin's
choice, how many slots he wants to have.
If an admin starts his server with 24 slots, 20 slots, 10 slots
 or 2
 slots
instead of 32, he accepts, that less players can score the server
 up. On
 the
other side on 32 slot servers there are more connections which give
 minus
 points.

The score is not a result of the server settings, it's a result of
 active
connected players and when a server can make more people happy (in
 having
the max slots available), it should get a better score than low
 slotted
 servers.

I don't want to see 2 slot (or 24) TF2 servers which have the
 same score
 than my 32 slot server.

I agree with the sentiment that a mailing list is useless without
 valve reading it and/or responding.

I also agree with moving it to a forum. While it's both good and
bad for the same reason (everyone can see it), it's also a lot more
exposing. I think big, glaring bugs should be seen for what they
are. They shouldn't be kept within the confines of a mailing list
that has a limited audience. Sometimes a little pressure from the
internet at large is a good thing :)

I think Valve is doing the right thing by putting a little pressure
 on themselves.

Also, other forums have been available for posting on (srcds.com,
alliedmodders) and people are still here at the mailing list
 instead. Moving
to the steam forums won't make everything more central, it will
 separate it
as people will make their own unofficial mailing lists and other
 avenues of
information rather than flock to the steam forums.

Like many other people have said in these responses, I don't want
 another
forum or website to remember to read, and I suspect by getting rid
 of this
mailing list and forcing everyone to use the forum then over time
 you would
lose a lot of the current knowledgeable and useful responders here
 and just
end up with more not-so-useful posters on the steam forums. So
 then server
administrators have lost another good form of support and
 discussion.

Mailing list is convenient, you always get it and have your own
 copy and
don't have to respond if you don't want to. If you don't like a
 topic then
you can just erase all e-mails with that subject. You can read on
 something
that you hadn't thought of or just erase all e-mails. You also have
 the
preview pane in your e-mail client so its easy to go through the
 threads at
a glance. It's always just there.
With a forum you have to go out of your way, clicking back and
 forth between
threads rather than a glance and slowly people would drop off and
 you'd get
less of the really helpful people around.

I think this list is great and should be left as-is. I only signed
 up just
under a year ago and has since caused me to look out for more
 useful mailing
lists in other things I do regularly.

If you take a look at, for example, bugzilla.mozilla.org and look
 at the

practice of using an address other than myfulln...@gmail.com is more
common than you think. With proper filters in your e-mail client

use any), this practice shouldn't cause any problems.

The fact is that I have neither done, nor attempted to do anything

 we get

One thing I question thought is why can I turn off the stuff so I

 my profile

Would it be an idea to add an option to block outgoing

CS 1.4 didn't have VAC.nbsp; Nice attempt at a troll though.

And how do I know?nbsp; Let's see, I used to be a mod on the Steam

forums and I still run a community site that grants me access to
 speaking
  with Valve staff members on a regular basis.nbsp; How do I know?nbsp;
 Put
  2 and 2 together.

 The
only way to block them is sv_pure...I'm surprised nobody talked about
 this
  yet.

The problem is that the default whitelist.txt (with sv_pure 1) still
  allows
player models (so you can still use materials cheats to see them through
walls), and most servers admins don't know about that.

  I think that sv_pure should default to 1 (with a whitelist.txt which
 makes
everything default when player connects) or to 2. Yes a lot of people
  would
be complaining because their legit skins wouldn't work. But then you
 have
  to
choose between allowing skins or blocking cheaters.
