Re: [hlds] Dumps of Crashes/Hangs on CS:S and TF2 servers, Windows 2003

That was causing lag on my Linux servers where the spray folder has 4K+
spray files and it couldn't find a spray (server paused for a second or
half)

So I disabled sprays.

Also about the freezes, try disabling bots, see if the freezes go away.

There definitely was a bot related crash, might still be. I stopped running
bots on some of my CSS servers because of it.

I talked with a guy from HPE sometime around the CSS beta (limited one) in
regards to bots crashing, and he said that they were aware of it. Fairly
certain Valve's breakpad thingie was spamming them with minidumps
referencing bot crashes.

Talking of which, those of you with freezing issues. Try starting your
server with -nobreakpad. This way it won't send the minidumps to valve after
crashing (unfortunate for crash stats gathering though) but it might just
restart without hanging.

That solved my hang issues on Linux anyway. Haven't had a server hang since.

I think once minidumps are uploaded to valve they get deleted which is why you
don't see them. They should keep a local copy after uploading even if we can't
fully debug them.

At the moment, on Linux atleast, the -nobreakpad option is broken.

Cheers,

There definitely was a bot related crash, might still be. I stopped
 running
bots on some of my CSS servers because of it.

I talked with a guy from HPE sometime around the CSS beta (limited one)
 in
regards to bots crashing, and he said that they were aware of it. Fairly
certain Valve's breakpad thingie was spamming them with minidumps
  referencing bot crashes.

Talking of which, those of you with freezing issues. Try starting your
server with -nobreakpad. This way it won't send the minidumps to valve
 after
crashing (unfortunate for crash stats gathering though) but it might
 just
  restart without hanging.

That solved my hang issues on Linux anyway. Haven't had a server hang
 since.

Re: [hlds] Dumps of Crashes/Hangs on CS:S and TF2 servers, Windows 2003

2010-08-21 Thread 1nsane

Today I've gotten three crashes of my CS:S and TF2 servers already, both
without quitting. The servers just hang, very annoying because they will
  not
quit and restart automatically via batch file, they simply stay offline
  until I notice the issue...

  CS:S (non-beta):
Found the console in a hung state, saying something about forcible thread
termination/assertion failed, happened twice today without any apparent
reason (no player disconnecting or anything)
  Dump: http://forlix.org/_res/host/css_hang.dmp

  TF2:
Found the console simply in a hung state for no apparent reason - it just
hung in the middle of normal gameplay.
I attached a debugger and saw that it was running through a pretty small
piece of code that probably had to do with waiting for another thread,
 over
and over again. I did a manual crash dump using DrWatson, but its 64bit
 so
  I
cant open it on my home PC.
