We've released a mandatory update for TF2. The new version number is 6979098.

- Fixed not being able to preview Community Market items in-game
- Updated the localization files
- Updated cp_altitude
- Increased capture time on A
- Increased BLU respawn time on A
- Increased RED respawn time on B
- Increased delay before BLU's first forward spawn activates after A is 
captured
- Fixed RED having access to a spectator camera on A after the point 
was captured
- Fixed case where BLU could enter RED's forward spawn after B was 
captured
- Fixed a missing respawn visualizer in BLU's first spawn
- Fixed a texture issue on C cable car tower
- Updated menu photos
- Visual adjustments

Ancient ancient ancient ancient issue where they (the game) pass this
through a format function and can crash through arbitrary memory
reading. The string was localized too to the client disconnecting
which was even more neat. It's beyond well documented how this has
been abused for well over a decade.

Can we for the love of god please get a CS:S sync. There's so much bad
stuff out there now and keeping all the other games vulnerable doesn't
help anyone. I'm happy to spend an hour reviewing the changeset or
whatever it takes to help this stuff land.

Do you have any update on the network exploits presently working
against every other Source1 game. We're also seeing an uptick in
ancient spray/rce attacks against players as well (which doesn't
impact the server beyond distribution).

Correct, the solution is to update your connect.ext and steamtools.ext
extensions, the latest ones were posted earlier today

Seems to be related to the issue I'm posting about.

On further inspection it seems there's been some undocumented changes 
regarding handling client pre-connections. It looks like a form of 
killswitch has been added, meaning if the connection is handled 
improperly/tampered with/etc, the server drops all forms of connection 
to the master server resulting in no Steam services for the affected 
gameserver, which includes reporting player counts to the server browser.


Would be nice if we could get some form of validation here to confirm or 
deny this theory.

their gameplays. As Eric said it is similar to P-REC but officialy

MOTD when the user closes it. Before we would just hide it, but the page would 
still be loaded and taking resources. This gives server operators the option to 
have it unloaded completely.

Some server ops have content in their MOTD that they'd prefer be unloaded when 
the user closes the dialog (videos, intro music). This also allows use of the 
onunload event in MOTDs.

My Windows server has been acting strange since the update.  All 
animations appear to be disabled... essentially, you see characters 
moving around without animations playing (they all face the same 
direction, etc...)  FOV randomly resets on people.


This happens even after we disable addons.

Strangely, this isn't happening on my Linux server.

Turns out it was a corrupted file.  Or something the host on that server 
had to fix; I'm not the primary contact for that server, but it sounded 
like a -verify_all is what fixed it.

Thanks!

Speaking of the quick-fix... a medic by himself can deploy uber and become
invulnerable.  A medic by himself who deploys quick-fix does not get
increased self-healing.  Is this a bug or intended?

Holy smokes! That sounds great! Any idea when we'll see it on
Counter-Strike: Source?

As far as I'm aware, the rate limiting connection convars from the last
update haven't been pushed out yet. Although, they don't seem to help at
all on OB against the exploit they were implemented to help protect against.

It's not a typo in the code. I think Jeff just made a typo when he typed up the 
error message and posted to the hlds list. The error message should read:

Found this right after the update myself.. if you are running any plugin that 
has to do with Pumpkins remove it for now until they (valve) fixes the typo in
