Good Day To All,

Is there a way of filling
columns 80 95 with blanks? I have sequence commands (please see below for an
example) which I would like to remove.

00550003 **
0056
00570001 *
00580003 **

00660001 *
00670003 **
0068
00690001 *
0073 **
0071

I looked at using C P'00' " "
80 95 however since this is a huge dsn I was wondering if there is a quicker
way. I also considered pressing the EOF key on my keyboard on every line
however since the file is quite large it would take me a while.

Is there a line command I could issue to do what I want to do? I remember in
ROSCOE I could issue the command FILL 80 95 and it would replace the numbers
with blank spaces.

Thanks

when I issued the command it was too late (3 minutes after the job abend).
This is why I thought by  reading SMF records would have some info on the

The result I get from the same DEVTYPE macro is:

My results have a fullword for the number of cylinders and a fullword for

I think the OP is just looking at the wrong address, 2 bytes beyond the correct

Since you already posted that you have no data class active and a null SMS
configuration, it is unlikely that DFSMS has any effect on block size. If the
data was written with QSAM, then QSAM performed the blocking (per the DCB
parameters specified on the DD statement used to identify the output dataset)
as well as constructing the RDWs and BDW.

You also posted that the problem was with the BDW and not the RDWs. What do
you think the problem is? How did you determine that? Can you post the first
8 bytes of the block in question (BDW+RDW, no proprietary data)?

It looks like your error is too small a BLKSIZE.

The maximum BLKSIZE for VB or VBS is 32760, NOT your 32000.

If BUFL=32600 then your use of BLKSIZE=32000 is short of the mark.

To read ANY VB file, use RECFM=VB,LRECL=32756,BLKSIZE=32760.

Try a IDCAMS PRINT DUMP of the offending record. Especially examine the BDW
and RDW at the start of the block.

Hi,

I have a program that generates a corrupted RDW The file is a VB file. I coded
a synad exit but it didn't take (it was never given control)

When I go into ISPF and I do a max down I can see where ISPF can't read the
next record as I get "* * * I/O error detected, i/o terminated * * *"

As there anything/exit I can do to capture this the program seems to go to
EOJ

Is there a system command that will show if a specific file is enqueued? And
even better, who holds the enqueue? We have a nightly batch job that backs up a
file on System-A and then restores it on System-B. About once a month a TSO
user (almost always the same Operator) will have that file open, DFDSS can't
get an exclusive enqueue and issues RC=8. If it can be determined whether the
file is in use before the job is run, the Operator won't run the job and I
won't get a phone call at midnight. Even though the documentation says "Fill
out a Problem Report and DON"T CALL ANYBODY" the Operator persists in calling.

My sleep and the life of the Operator are at risk, any help would be greatly
appreciated.

CBT File 102 TAPESCAN S237- 0C on virtual tape

2015-05-14 Thread Campbell Jay
Maybe I'm playing in the dinosaur bone yard...

Any attempt to run TAPESCAN on a virtual tape volume results in:
IEC527I BLOCK COUNTS: DEVICE=4, DCB=9
IEC023I 237-0C, IFG0551H,..
z/OS 2.1 TS7740

I added the Block Count Unequal exit to the DCB EXLST parm.
Basically RETURN,RC=4 continue processing.
It's not being called... DC x'' in the middle.

Native tape works fine.
Well - my little tiny test tape did.
When I ran one of the backup tapes...
S0C9-09 kind of expected.
Calculating the number of tape inches.
Too lazy to do the math - but just guessing -
1 3592 = 1 50 foot diameter 6520 BPI round reel.

Enjoy.

Correct. The report shows the START and END timestamps of the input data - not

Try running the extract again, using TECH.SCRT.PART2 as your input and see what

Unless you are really out of the ordinary, I would expect the use of SORTWKnn
on tape to be rare. AFAIK, It's purpose was for large sorts in the ancient days
of expensive disk. It took extra effort to set-up.
I believe we had one job back in the 80's and it was changed away from TAPESORT

Yes . That would work fine in the case of scheduled jobs . But in our

that are trigerred externally from an MQ server ). And i do not know how many
of them use tape sorting . This makes the task more difficult .

mentioned in original post, GML evolution to SGML then HTML, as well as first

one of the early browsers was done at the supercomputer appication
datacenter/univ (part of the NSF supercomputer effort NSFNET backbone).
people left and formed a startup in silicon valley.

for other trivia ... we are doing ha/cmp product along with cluster scaleup ...

http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/95.html#13

old cluster scaleup related email
http://www.garlic.com/~lynn/lhwemail.html#medusa

possibly within hrs of the last email in above (end Jan1992), the scaleup is

we then decide to leave. now two of the other people in the early
jan1992 meeting, also leave and join small client/server startup responsible
for something called commerce server; we get called in to consult because
they want to do payment transactions on their server; the startup had also
invented technology called SSL, the result is now frequently called
electronic commerce. The startup is also using a corporate name that was used
at the supercomputer application datacenter/univ ... the univ objects. One of
the major router vendors in silicon valley has an unused trademarked name that
is donated for the startups new name.
