[ilugd] postfix with courier-imap or dovecot

2008-01-09 Thread rajnish kumar
I have decided to configured postfix with dovecot or courier-imap, but a little
confusion about both imap servers I've heard of both and I already tested and
installed both, but I'm not sure which one is better, since both just
seem to work
and I can't see a difference, except from the point how it's set up
and configured. Where
are the drawbacks of each one, where are the benefits? . As i read
about courier-imap
has limitations in I/O and NETWORK might be some one has tested. I'm not that
into detail of both projects, may be you can explain a bit.
Thanks in advance for every answer!

I think we have to try to resolve issue's if any one in trouble
instead of leg pulling and this is not the serious issue whether he is
using abbreviation or complete words.
As per my opinion --

I recently moved a sizeable system from qmail to postfix. While qmail
is a fine MTA, we were running into its limitations. The main
objection I have to it is that it's stagnant. The last official
release was over 10 years ago, and any advances in MTA technology since
then has to be implemented as a patch. This includes SMTP AUTH, SSL,
SQL aliasing, and many of the common anti-spam tactics. After a
while, the whole thing gets quite unwieldy, especially when you have
conflicting patches. We also had large problems with qmail's
everything goes in the queue architecture. A vanilla qmail install
accepts every mail that is sent to it, even those that are to
non-existent users. No mail is rejected at smtp time. This means
that the queue is always full of bounce message to non-existent
senders. Also, when you get hit with a mail bomb, the messages in the
queue end up delaying new incoming messages, even after the mail-bomb
has stopped. Performance on the queue disk can become a substantial
bottleneck. Still, it's a fine mailer once you get your mind around
how it works.

We switched to postfix primarily because I wanted a MTA that was under
active development and qmail has limited support for LMTP. Postfix
does have it's quirks, and Wietse is sometimes less than willing to
add new things to postfix that people want. However, they do
eventually get added, once Wietse comes up with a system that he
likes.

[ilugd] Option in Open source like Go Global / Citrix / Windows Terminal Services

2007-10-16 Thread rajnish kumar
Dear Friends
We are running web based ERP at remote location
through the openvpn setup. But We can't speed up our appliation at
clinet end. As i have found some solution like GO GLOBAL --- Bsically
what it is ?
GO-Global is the ideal server-based computing solution. Utilizing
advanced server-based technology and near-zero-footprint clients,
GO-Global publishes existing applications without the need to modify a
single line of code. And there's no need for complex, costly solutions
such as Citrix MetaFrame or Windows Terminal Services. GO-Global is
the instant application publishing and Web-enabling solution that
retains 100% of your application's features, functions and product
branding.

So could any one suggest me we have any othe option in open source
like Go Global/Citrix or Windows Terminal services.

As I said, qmail-ldap patch applies cleanly, only to fresh qmail source.
I am not sure if it will compile even after you patch it manually.

qmail-ldap patch already has most patches integrated in it. You can
patch ucspi-tcp with ssl-tls patch. pop3d-ssl is already there in
 qmail-ldap..

Did you read theses pages? Its all there.

Did you any patches to qmail-1.03 code when you installed it according
to qmailrocks.org? Remember that the qmail source gets cleanly patched
only when you patch virgin qmail source.
base64.o and gives some error like this
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file conf-spawn.rej

You may try to patch rejects manually.
 This link:
 http://www.proscrutiny.com/howtos/manually_patch.html
 may help you patch manually.
error_str.c:7: error: conflicting types for 'error_str'
error.h:22: error: previous declaration of 'error_str' was here

error_str.c:24: error: 'error_proto' undeclared (first use in this

Patch all rejects first and all errors may vanish.
