[JAWS-Users] using the pacmate keyboard with jaws

2012-12-13 Thread André van Deventer
Hi folks

A question from a friend of mine

Is it possible to use the pacmate keyboard with Jaws?

I know it is possible to detach the pacmate display and use it with Jaws,
but is it possible to use the whole pacmate and therefore the keyboard also
with Jaws?

Regards

Andre

them are integrated, meaning that if you have a problem, chances are you'll
need more then one part replaced if something goes wrong. There are separate

and wanted one for their speech, and one for their music. hope i explained

You will need JAWS pro for anything that does not have home in it's name.

Hi,

I am in the process of purchasing a new Dell desktop computer with
Windows7. I was considering the business class which I would have to
upgrade my standard version of Jaws to the pro version.

I normally would have purchased a new computer with home edition, but
I want to avoid all the junk that comes with it and purchase one that
meets my specific requirements.

So, I am wondering what is windows ultimate and is that the better
way to go instead of the business class? Is there a way to compare
Ultimate with business class and home edition? Do I need the pro
version of Jaws for Ultimate?

One of the problem that I am having is to get the Dell rep include a
second sound card for Jaws. Is it just as well to use an USB sound
card for Jaws and is the quality just as good as a regular sound card?

Sorry for a lot of questions, but I want to cover all my basis before
I invest in a new computer and end up with something that I will not
be happy with.

Thanks so very much for any comments and suggestions. Take care.

the OS is different from Ultimate and home edition which requires the
pro version?

Hi

You can have JAWS not say link when doing a say all by going to the
settings

manager and typing select scheme, then arrow down to select scheme and
choose say all text only. Tab to OK and press enter. However this does
not
stop JAWS from saying link if you move through the document by line or
word.

You could also add an entry to the JAWS dictionary with the original word
being link and the replacement word being a space. But this would make
JAWS

never say the word link, even if it was part of a sentence.

Hi David,

Thanks so very much for your reply. So, I am wondering that I would
be just as well with the business class computer. I am assuming that
the OS is different from Ultimate and home edition which requires the
pro version?

Take care.

You will need JAWS pro for anything that does not have home in it's name. \

USB sound cards work great, I have quite a number of them and for around $15
you get all that you need for JAWS.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Links

2012-12-13 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

You can have JAWS not say link when doing a say all by going to the settings
manager and typing select scheme, then arrow down to select scheme and
choose say all text only. Tab to OK and press enter. However this does not
stop JAWS from saying link if you move through the document by line or word.
You could also add an entry to the JAWS dictionary with the original word
being link and the replacement word being a space. But this would make JAWS
never say the word link, even if it was part of a sentence.

That is not jaws, but the email it self. When ever you get email in html
they put that in the email incase you do have a problem.

I have all my email sent in text if possible, because jaws never did
handle html in a email very good. And that would be a problem with
jaws and your email client not any web pages or browser.

Are you meaning in facebook or what they send in email? Because I use the
regular page and it speaks pretty good. The h will put you on anyone that
posts to your wall. As far as the rest no to much of a problem.

The JAWS 14 update is available without the need to call for a code. If
you have JAWS 14 (build 918 or 1036) installed, you should be prompted to
get the update to build 1037 as of today.

hi, the jFW update had some bad issues in it . They now have a update to
the update. But you have to call them and they have to give you a special
code to put it in in order to get the update. I called today to see if
they had one or when it would be comeing out and the man gave me a special

[JAWS-Users] adding hot key to Controlling The Volume

2012-12-13 Thread John R Vaughn
I agree, what a nice solution to be able to quickly access the controls to
change volume.
I have also made a hot key so that if I do a control key plus alt key and
letter V, I am in the dialogue box where I can page up or page down to raise
volume on the fly. Or I can tab to jaws or internet explorer and change
those volumes independently.
This is handy for me as I listen to Serious radio on my laptop and listen to
business programs in the background and sometimes want to quickly raise or
lower the volume for either just internet explorer or jaws. So you guessed
it, I like many others, try and multi task.
I really like the great solutions the list shares.

I tried this last night, created a desktop shortcut and it works
brilliantly!
Thanks very much for this, such a simple solution.
I put a shortcut key of alt+ctrl+shift+v.
The focus lands straight on the slider bar, it works in the reverse order
e.g. right arrow decrease the volume and left increased it I think but who
cares.
It does actually change the volume on the fly as well.

Thanks again for your help.
