[JAWS-Users] Winamp Not Playing Next file in a Selected List

2013-02-17 Thread Rick Justice
Dave,
Recently you posted about Winamp not playing the next file in a selected
list of files automatically.
It has been suggested that deleting the .ini file in the Winamp directory
will correct this problem.
I have encountered this problem before, but I didn't
understand why it happened with no apparent reason.
Well, here is the most likely cause, which is much simpler
Winamp has a command for this particular behavior,
and I discovered it while editing ID Tag information in Winamp.
Winamp shares a command keystroke with Windows, which is
Control + V
I verified this in the following versions, 2.8, 5.04 and 5.62.
Maybe because of screen echo settings with Jaws or otherwise, the user is not
hearing this command when it is activated.
I haven't looked for a way to disable this keystroke,so I don't even know at
this point if that is possible.
While in Winamp, if you look in the Playback sub-menu, you will find the
command listed.
Interesting what you can learn in the wee morning hours.
HTH,
Rick Justice

2013-02-17 Thread tim
I mostly came across this when using windows burner. The cd is seen
and can be played, but not copied between other versions of windows.
It mostly happens going from like win7 to xp. The reason for this is
not backward compatible. Even thought all files used in the burn
process are the same in newer versions they have updated code. I have
also ran across this using different burn programs on xp doing all the same.
The one thing I can say here is don't use a cheap fly by night burn
program or what comes with windows unless your going to have those
disks used only on that computer. Get a good supported burner and it
will work with all computers and anything you put the cd in.

[JAWS-Users] re-scripts for itunes

2013-02-17 Thread jim
Hi Jo:

In ITunes 11 the interface has been changed.

You do not need any scripts, you just need to get used to some different key
strokes.

the December and January FS cast covers how to use ITunes 11.

For example use control+s to bring up the sources tree view, sometimes press
twice depending where you are in the program.

control+shift+h, to go to the ITunes store home page.

while on the store pages at any time press control+shift+b, to browse
categories, up and down arrow through the columns and use the tab key to go
across the different columns of information.

the radio stations have changed as well.

Press Control+s, to make sure that you are on the source tree view, press the
home key to go to music, tab 7 times and press the space bar to check the radio
checkbox then press f6 to go to the list of radio stations to stream, press
enter to play your choice.

Basically, you will use f6, tab, application key to see all the different
choices you have depending on what you are sitting on.

Home key takes you to the top of a list, end key to the bottom of a list.

Enter key to play, spacebar to pause a song and so on.

Please listen to the podcast from FS, they really teach you a lot of things and
give you good information.

I hope this helps...

Dear inthane,
You're being very helpful, but save your effort for now. I was wrong about
part of what I stated re my custom computer. It is an AMD/Ati set-up; but
the mother board is integrated. The Ati graphics card is attached and has
its own controllers and chipset. The builder thinks that ATI works better
and faster with the AMD; and that this is a faster combo than the Intel
integrated boards- which he thinks are quite cheap and shabby. Just his
opinion, but you've been so willing to discuss that I wanted to give you the
full scoop- to the extent that my non-techy non-builder non-hardware savvy

[JAWS-Users] Unable To Send Emails

2013-02-17 Thread Trevor Dawson
hi Listers

I'm running Windows 7 and using Outlook 2010.

Up until yesterday I had no trouble sending emails. However, for some reason
today they will not leave the Outbox.

I have done an F9 and Control M a few times, closed Outlook and reopened it
a couple of times with no success. I have done a reset on the computer and
still no change. I have also looked in tools to see if I can find anything
with no luck. I am receiving emails with no problem though.

I'm also using my husband's computer to send this email.

Any ideas would be greatly received.

[JAWS-Users] more about num lock

2013-02-17 Thread Lenny McHugh
num lock off for the numpad was originally written by a co worker of mine for
me. Barry Harper used the dos debug feature to create a routine that at start
up would automatically turn numlock off. It was added to the autoexec.bat file
in my computer. In the mid 1990s I shared it with FS. It is too bad that Barry
was never recognized for that little piece that saved me a lot of grief and
many others afterwards.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Office 2013 with JAWS

2013-02-17 Thread Kliphton A M
I was the one who said he was using jaws 14 and office 2013. When I first
started using it, it was very clunky, somethings just wouldn't load, and
sometimes you had to reboot for better results. Now that jaws 14 has an
update, most things work. The main thing that doesn't work is when you go to
type a signature, it doesn't read you the text, but it is there. When you try
to switch between accounts it won't tell you witch account is highlighted.
Spell check does the same thing, it will tell you there is a miss spelled word,
but not read you the suggestions. Your suppose to be able to sign in to your
sky drive account, and have your word documents saved there, but mine always
tells me to look because there were arrows discovered. That's all I have found
so far. FS knows, so we will see if they address it in the next update. As
for activating office, now you go through an automated system, that walks you
through and asks questions about how many pc's you have activated there product
on, say 1, and it will give you a knew one. I have a copy of 2010 if any one
wants to buy it. It is office home and business edition. Contact me off list

JAWS 14 but it is a work in progress. Just how much of a work in progress
is it? Does anyone on the list have experience with it? I use Office a lot

you can get previous versions of Office from the Microsoft online store. My

I was the one who said he was using jaws 14 and office 2013. When I first
started using it, it was very clunky, somethings just wouldn't load, and
sometimes you had to reboot for better results. Now that jaws 14 has an
update, most things work. The main thing that doesn't work is when you go
to type a signature, it doesn't read you the text, but it is there. When
you try to switch between accounts it won't tell you witch account is
highlighted. Spell check does the same thing, it will tell you there is a
miss spelled word, but not read you the suggestions. Your suppose to be
able to sign in to your sky drive account, and have your word documents
saved there, but mine always tells me to look because there were arrows
discovered. That's all I have found so far. FS knows, so we will see if
they address it in the next update. As for activating office, now you go
through an automated system, that walks you through and asks questions about
how many pc's you have activated there product on, say 1, and it will give
you a knew one. I have a copy of 2010 if any one wants to buy it. It is
office home and business edition. Contact me off list for more info

 Hello,

I contacted FS and asked if Office 2013 works with JAWS 14. Their E-mail
response said that Office 2013 is known to work with the latest build of
JAWS 14 but it is a work in progress. Just how much of a work in
progress
is it? Does anyone on the list have experience with it? I use Office a
lot
and I don't need something that is only half usable. It doesn't look like
you can get previous versions of Office from the Microsoft online store.
My
copy of Office 2003 has finely run out of activations. I wonder if I need
to see if I can find a copy of Office 2010 at Best Buy or a office supply
 store.

 Thanks,

 Scott Duck

Re: [JAWS-Users] excel - JAWS Stops Reading

2013-02-17 Thread inthaneelf
ok, I'd route jaws to pc and see if you can see anything, 2nd would be using
the invisible cursor for the same investigation (jaws key tapped twice
quickly),

other things are check the view menu to see what it is set to, normal is
best here, check the options settings for anything that sounds irregular,
like everything set to invisible in view, etc.

HTH,

either things have been made invisible in the application, or something is
blocking you from seeing what you should

I haven't seen an answer to your query yet so...

I would first ask you to make sure that the excel window is maximized. you
should see something unless you have a open window such as for registering
your software opening or... if it is minimized when you open it (alt and
space bar, then x)

let us know if this helps

When I go into any spreadsheet JAWS stops reading. After closing the

So here comes the real question!

Is it possible to record something using lets say, audacity, have jaws come
out of the headset and not be heard during playback of the recording?

All I can really suggest is review your choices very carefully. I have a
headphone choice without an additional card plugged in because it is just on
my built-in card. Choosing it doesn't actually switch to the headphone
jack, it just stays with the speakers. Once I connect my bluetooth headset,
I get another headset choice and it works as expected.

I recently purchased a Sabrent external sound card, so when activating
this through the sound card sub menu, what happens to jaws?

Please note, 24/7 I am using an USB headset so as I write this, before
I sent my email, I went to utilities and the sound card option and
click headset; however, when I clicked headset jaws was not coming out
 of my headset.

When I pressed enter on the windows default sound card, jaws is coming
 out of my headset.

I guess my question is when I press enter on this option in the
soundcard options that states, speakers jineric USB audio device what
will this do and how come when I select the headset option, jaws is
not coming out of the headset.

Hopefully this was not a stupid question. I do not pretend to know
anything about how USB cards work, so hopefully someone can bail me
 out here.

When or if someone can provide clarity I think I have another
question. I just need to make sense of what is going on here lol.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows7 Suggested Settings For Jaws13

Hi All,

A friend just upgraded from Vista to Windows7. Is there a list of preferred

settings for setting up Windows7 so it works best with Jaws? He is having
several issues he doesn't know if it's the upgrade didn't go well,
settings, Or Jaws. Below is the email I received:

It seems to be quite sluggish for one, but
most recently it has stopped recognizing commands while on Internet
Explorer. It will not recognize the alt key so I can get to the menu where
file, view,
tools, etc. are located. I tried using the control key and the enter key
together on Facebook, but it would not pull up a new page. I began to wonder

if
the control key and the alt key had gone bad. So, I tried youtube. They alt
key and the left arrow (go back) worked on youtube. Jaws will say on youtube
control and whatever other key I am pressing. Jaws will say alt and whatever

other key I am pressing, but it will not perform the task. I tried tabbing
to the menu, but when I got to where the menu should be it just said toolbar

button. I select the button and nothing happens. I shift tab up to the
address
bar and try typing in the location and I get no results. It does not
recognize the letters.

1. Alt key does not work as it should.
2. Control key does not work as it should
3. Jaws is not reading what I type in the address bar.
4. Computer is sluggish especially with Outlook 2010.

Do you know what may be causing this to occur? I am using Jaws 13. That is
the only version available on that computer. I am also using Internet
Explorer
9.

All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much.
Take care.
Mike

apparently your one of those who are totally against java,

Well, unless you are going to use libre office or similar, you probably
don't need Java for anything. I guess some websites might use it, but
unless you know you need it, get rid of it and you'll have one less
security issue.
