[JAWS-Users] one more question about I E 10

2013-10-12 Thread Miriam Vieni
Is it compatible with Jaws 13? I prefer not to upgrade to 14. When I did, I
had to use Magic 12 which was more difficult for me to handle than Magic 11
so I dropped back to 13 where I'm quite happy because I don't use all the
features that most of you use. Does I E 10 download properly with Jaws 13?

Re: [JAWS-Users] xp mode again

2013-10-12 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

As far as memory for the virtual machine, since XP is a 32 bit OS, it
should be able to support up to 4GB of memory. So you could set the memory
to around 4,000. The message about JAWS not authorized in a terminal
session would mean that JAWS thinks you are connecting to a different
computer. This would mean that you need the remote feature on your JAWS
license. This feature costs around $100, I think. So I would check with FS
if this is really required. I was not aware that it acted this way since I
have the remote feature on my license. If you don't want to pay for the
remote feature, you may as well uninstall JAWS on the virtual machine. But
if you can run JAWS on the virtual machine, I would go to options, basics
and uncheck run JAWS first to stop the competition between JAWS and NVDA.

Hi yes I hae another xp mode question. After a lot of jaws frustration, I
installed nvca now I have it trying to talk as long as 2 versions of jaws
trying to all out do each other which is rather annoying. What am I doing
wrong do I need to uninstall absolutely everything of these and begin again
I sure hoipe not. Also, how much memory can I set for xp mode presently I
have it set to 2000 instead of the 512 it defaulted to. My windows 7 host
machine has 16 gb of ram but I have heard windows xp mode can't support much
memory. I would like to increase it if possible as when it does run it is
extremely slow. Oh yes and when I tried to authorize my jaws 14 32 bith
with one of my keys (I have 2 left) I got a message saying this application
is not authorized to run in a terminal session what does that mean? When I
installed jaws I used the typical install so I don't think I killed
anything. Sorry for all the dorky questions and thanks so much in advance.
You can write me off list at ew...@dccnet.com if you prefer.

[JAWS-Users] Introduction and a very annoying JAWS Error

2013-10-12 Thread Chela Robles

Hello my name is chela Robles from concord California.
I've been a JAWS user since version 5.0 came out, and have license for
version 10 which doesn't run under windows 7, so I've heard, and so I
downloaded version 14.0.6005 build for 64-bit systems as a 40 minute
demo since I'm not authorized to use this version fully on an HP G72
Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium laptop and I've discovered a very annoying
issue which I've tried to solve using the below method from Freedom
Scientific about 6 times now and I'd like to know what your thoughts are
regarding this issue and I'm so sorry if this topic comes up often, but
since I'm new to this list, I'd like your opinions regarding
trouble-shooting this issue, please? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
So I downloaded the latest demo version of the 64-bit version of JAWS
version 14, that being build 6005 in English, saved it to my C drive so
I skipped that step outlined in the directions from Freedom Scientific,
then I ran the executable and followed the prompts using the NVDA screen
reader since the talking installer didn't work, then I rebooted the pc
like one always has to when installing JAWS and I loaded JAWS and got
this error:

JAWS
A file required by the driver ELOQ.JLS for Eloquence Software could not
be loaded. One or more shared components are missing. Please reinstall
this product in an effort to resolve the problem.

OK
so I pressed ok and followed the repair switch from the run dialog box:
pressed windows r then typed in C:\J14.0.6005ENU-64bit.exe /typerepair
and pressed enter and followed the prompts spoken by NVDA since the
talking installer requires Eloquence to speak since it wouldn't speak,
and still no go, I still get the same error and I've done the whole
process 6 times now. I'm officially stumped!

Can anyone help me please with this issue?
You can write me offlist at cdrobles...@gmail.com as to not clutter up
this list thank you again for your service. I greatly appreciate it.

Teachers have a sacred task:
It is to give children the skills to understand the world and an expectation
that the world is a trustworthy place; that it is full of light, and love, and
music and that each student deserves--and will have--their own place in it and
the chance to play their own song.
And, as much of these expectations are transmitted non-verbally—and in Chela’s
case--out of sight…it is the voice and touch of a Teacher that sheds light on
what the world can be.
Academics—and no one will ever change my mind on this—take a distant second

Another issue can be if there were a few pop-ups along the way when the page
loaded. If so, you might have to hit the back command a couple times for it

Chela, try this. Go to the FS site, and download jaws 14 again, but this
time save the exe to wherever your downloads are saved. In other words,
while it downloads, it doesn't install. it saves to wherever your download
files save. Now, make sure that whatever you have installed in your
computer in regards to jaws 14 is uninstalled. then, go to the saved exe you
have and install it, but before you do it, turn off NVDA. Let the new exe
from jaws do the talking as it installs. See if that does the job. Jim

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Introduction and a very annoying JAWS Error

Hello my name is chela Robles from concord California.
I've been a JAWS user since version 5.0 came out, and have license for
version 10 which doesn't run under windows 7, so I've heard, and so I
downloaded version 14.0.6005 build for 64-bit systems as a 40 minute demo
since I'm not authorized to use this version fully on an HP G72 Windows 7
64-bit Home Premium laptop and I've discovered a very annoying issue which
I've tried to solve using the below method from Freedom Scientific about 6
times now and I'd like to know what your thoughts are regarding this issue
and I'm so sorry if this topic comes up often, but since I'm new to this
list, I'd like your opinions regarding trouble-shooting this issue,
please? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
So I downloaded the latest demo version of the 64-bit version of JAWS
version 14, that being build 6005 in English, saved it to my C drive so I
skipped that step outlined in the directions from Freedom Scientific, then
I ran the executable and followed the prompts using the NVDA screen reader
since the talking installer didn't work, then I rebooted the pc like one
always has to when installing JAWS and I loaded JAWS and got this error:

JAWS
A file required by the driver ELOQ.JLS for Eloquence Software could not be
loaded. One or more shared components are missing. Please reinstall this
product in an effort to resolve the problem.

OK
so I pressed ok and followed the repair switch from the run dialog box:
pressed windows r then typed in C:\J14.0.6005ENU-64bit.exe /typerepair and
pressed enter and followed the prompts spoken by NVDA since the talking
installer requires Eloquence to speak since it wouldn't speak, and still
no go, I still get the same error and I've done the whole process 6 times
now. I'm officially stumped!

Can anyone help me please with this issue?
You can write me offlist at cdrobles...@gmail.com as to not clutter up
this list thank you again for your service. I greatly appreciate it.

What synthesizer is your NVDA using? Could be that that's the cause of
the referenced missing files? Perhaps

you need to reinstall JAWS, as the message says. (This does not
mean repair JAWS.) So remove the version, plus any shared components;
then reinstall. It shouldn't matter if you're running NVDA, but
unfortunately it may.

Yes when I used NVDA to install it I see something related to colors:
The color scheme has been changedThe reason this is happening is that a
running program has performed an action that requires Windows to
temporarily change the color scheme to Windows 7 Basic.Windows will
automatically change the color scheme back to Windows Aero when this
program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer
running.OKDon't show me this again. Why are some visual elements being
automatically turned off?

Your best bet, I think, is to totally remove JAWS14, before reinstalling

while to load, so don't use NVDA for the JAWS reinstall.

OK I was using Microsoft Sero pro speech platform for NVDA, I'll use ETI
Eloquence synth next time with NVDA and see if that makes a difference
if not then I'll do what Jim suggested and hopefully that will help.

Thanks in advance for your
suggestions.
OK

Only load NVDA during the JAWS installation process if JAWS doesn't
start speaking after about ten minutes! It may be that you can try
pressing the ENTER key to elecit some reaction from Windows or JAWS

My suggestion is this;
1. uninstall jaws 14.
2. delete the freedom scientific folder that is in all programs.
3. If in windows 7 do you have more than one user, you should delete the
setting configuration stored in c:\users\YourUser\app\freedom

4. Reinstall jaws 14 of 64 bits.
Just one thing. Try to place the UAC level in 50%, no more than this.
Reinstall jaws, and let us know how it goes.

if not then I'll do what Jim suggested and hopefully that will help.

you need to reinstall JAWS, as the message says. (This does not

then reinstall. It shouldn't matter if you're running NVDA, but

I got C:\Users\Linda\Freedom Scientific but it says I typed it wrong and
there is no user settings for Chela since Linda is the main user, even

have the error and for the life of me I can't seem to find the settings
for Linda for Freedom Scientific after I uninstall the product and
delete the Freedom Scientific folders in both Program Files and Program
Files (x86) either...this is all after I reboot the HPG72 laptop.

64-bit Home Premium laptop and I've discovered a very annoying issue which
I've tried to solve using the below method from Freedom Scientific about 6
times now and I'd like to know what your thoughts are regarding this issue
and I'm so sorry if this topic comes up often, but since I'm new to this
list, I'd like your opinions regarding trouble-shooting this issue, please?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
So I downloaded the latest demo version of the 64-bit version of JAWS
version 14, that being build 6005 in English, saved it to my C drive so I
skipped that step outlined in the directions from Freedom Scientific, then I
ran the executable and followed the prompts using the NVDA screen reader
since the talking installer didn't work, then I rebooted the pc like one
always has to when installing JAWS and I loaded JAWS and got this error:
JAWS
A file required by the driver ELOQ.JLS for Eloquence Software could not be
loaded. One or more shared components are missing. Please reinstall this
product in an effort to resolve the problem.
OK
so I pressed ok and followed the repair switch from the run dialog box:
pressed windows r then typed in C:\J14.0.6005ENU-64bit.exe /typerepair and
pressed enter and followed the prompts spoken by NVDA since the talking
installer requires Eloquence to speak since it wouldn't speak, and still no
go, I still get the same error and I've done the whole process 6 times now.
I'm officially stumped!
Can anyone help me please with this issue?
You can write me offlist at cdrobles...@gmail.com as to not clutter up this
list thank you again for your service. I greatly appreciate it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Introduction and a very annoying JAWS Error

2013-10-12 Thread Pablo Morales

Hi Chela
Well, it normally change depending of the configuration, and number of users
in your computer.

Now, in my computer is something like this.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Freedom Scientific

If you uninstall jaws, and if you do not have install any other freedom
scientific software, you can delete the folder called jaws. Of course, when
you delete this folder, you should have uninstalled previously jaws of your
computer.

Later you can reinstall jaws.

Pablo can you tell me for example how it would look for step number 3,
the path I'm to type in for Linda who I'm borrowing this computer from
please, I tried all sorts but the four dots don't help me in your
original message.
I got C:\Users\Linda\Freedom Scientific but it says I typed it wrong and
there is no user settings for Chela since Linda is the main user, even
though I'm the one using JAWS. Also there was no 50% choice for the UAC
settings so I chose 34%. The talking installer never talked and I still
have the error and for the life of me I can't seem to find the settings
for Linda for Freedom Scientific after I uninstall the product and
delete the Freedom Scientific folders in both Program Files and Program
Files (x86) either...this is all after I reboot the HPG72 laptop.

No, the registry, doesn't store files. Registry just indicate keys for
windows. For example, if we have installed jaws in C:\All
Programs\Freedom\Jaws, then the registry just indicate the path for that
program. Of course, registry indicate a lot of things, keys, paths, and sub
keys for dll that are needed for windows.
You can clean your registry of keys that are not linked to anything, or
information that is making process not eficient. I use cCleaner for this
kind of problems. Really the registry is more that I am telling you, but in
a few words. The registry is a kind of guides, and indications for run the

Re: [JAWS-Users] Introduction and a very annoying JAWS Error

2013-10-12 Thread Chela Robles
My friend had given me this HP G-72 laptop and it must be the way HP
installed Windows 7 because I can't even find C:\documents and settings
not even the all users documents and settings and I now see why several
don't choose HP but go with either Dell or something else, I also heard
that HP doesn't come to you to service where Dell does, and I don't like
how HP partitioned Windows 7 at all...which is why I can't wait until
rehab buys me a Dell laptop so I can put JAWS on there and not have this
problem because it will be a fresh install of Windows 7 on a 64-bit
machine. If I had a Windows 7 disk to do the fresh install, I'd do it
myself with sighted assistance, unless this new talking installation of
Windows installation I just heard about from Top Tech Tidbits would
help, but in that case I'd still have to have the Windows 7 Home Premium
64-bit installer disks and that might as well be expensive...so, JAWS
has come to a stalemate with me, and I don't think the FS team will be
able to help me, but I guess it will be worth the call on Monday...and
if nothing changes then, I'm just going to have to use NVDA until I get
my computer Rehab will purchase for me.
Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep. Seems like I keep spinnin'
right round with this issue, the circle of life as it may be.
