I've been having problems with updating adobe flash player. The thing that
I notice is that when I go to adobe web page using the latest version of
jaws, I have a problem because I can't seem to get past these check marks
but with earlier versions I'm going to check to see if I have the same
problem with updating adobe flash player. I'll keep you posted.

Have you tried going to a different version of jaws first as an example if
you have jaws 11, you should be able to go to the page then go and check to
see whether the check mark shows if this check mark shows, then you should
have no problem but if there is no check mark that shows then we should all
right adobe and ask them is there a work around for this situation? Please

2013-12-04 Thread David Ingram
Hi list members, I do have some good news concerning the adobe flash player
issue. Yes you must use an older version of jaws if you can get jaws 11, it
works grate. You can go to the optional items that adobe wants you to install
and uncheck that check mark. I hope that this helps someone.

Hi. I think Avast is a good programme but for me, it proved problematic. I
do use my computer to a great extent every day and work quickly but since it
has been uninstalled the computer has worked much more efficiently. The
problem may be a binary problem as a third programme maybe the catalyst.
Alternatively the Paid version may be better; I was using the free version.
Whatever the cause it has proved to be an enigma and It may be time to try
something different. I guess at the end of the day I could use one computer
for my main work of file management and not on line where I wouldn't need
virus protection and another for browsing and emails where the usage
wouldn't be so heavy. Walter.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Saving E-mails

2013-12-04 Thread Annette Carr
That is correct, you can only open a PST file with outlook. Hopefully
someone else on the list will know how to navigate Outlook to open the PST.
Once you have Outlook pointing to the PST, it will show up in your list of
folders. So you can use multiple PST at any time.

As far as copying and moving a PST file, you do it just like any other file.
One way is to navigate to the desired file using Windows Explorer, Use
Control+c to copy, navigate to the new location and use Control+v to paste.
Of course you can also use your favorite way of moving files as well.

HTH,
Annette

When creating/setting up a PST you can choose what Outlook data is stored in
it. This can include your contacts, your inbox, mail folders, outlook
notes, and probably other thing that I am not aware of. Yes, you will need
outlook to access the information stored in a PST file. You can have
multiple PST files, each with a different name.

If you are looking for a way to save 1 or more e-mails so that you can read
them in MS-Word, you can use the SaveAs option on the File Menu. You can
select one or more messages to save in one file. You are sometimes limited
in what format the messages can be saved in, and I do not have a clear
understanding to what makes the available options change. One downside to
using the save as option is when you have multiple e-mails from the same
conversation that all include the various chains of messages within that
conversation.

hello there;
you cannot open the PSTFile by just entering on it.
the only way you can access the file is by importing the data files.
not sure why you would want to open the PSTFile, since all your data is
there when you open outlook.

A data file is a
Personal Folders file (.pst).

1. On the File menu, point to Open, and then click Outlook Data File.
2. Click the .pst file you want to open, and then click OK.

The name of the folder associated with the data file appears in the
Folder List.
To view the Folder List, on the Go menu, click Folder List. By default, the
folder will be called Personal Folders .

if you need to move the PST file,
you can do this through the my documents,
the path would be something like,
c:\My\Documents\Outlook Files

Trish, just install Adobe Flash Player from the following page and be sure
to uncheck the box for installing Google Chrome and Tool Bar, which is
checked by default. This should install Flash Player for IE without any
unwanted software. However, if you use this same page to download and
install Flash Player for Firefox, you will automatically install a little
utility called McAfee Security Scan Plus. There is no way to deselect this
program when you install Flash Player for Firefox, so if you don't want it
on your computer, you will have to uninstall it manually. Actually, I find
it to be a very useful tool for performing quick malware scans, so I left it
on my computer.

Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe flash problem

2013-12-04 Thread Gerald Levy

I'm using JAWS 9 with IE 8, and I have no trouble unchecking the check box
for installing Google Chrome and Tool Bar. Maybe for some strange reason,
this can't be done with newer versions of JAWS or IE.

There is no way to deselect
this

program when you install Flash Player for Firefox, so if you don't want it
on your computer, you will have to uninstall it manually. Actually, I
find
it to be a very useful tool for performing quick malware scans, so I left
it

[JAWS-Users] Inserting/Adding a Worksheet in Excel 2010

2013-12-04 Thread Annette Carr
Hi All,

I am using JAWS 14 with Excel 2010 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. I only
recently moved over to JAWS 14. When I was using JAWS 12, I could use the
Insert+Shift+s command to bring up a context menu that would let me do
things like move/copy a worksheet, rename a worksheet, etc. I cannot get
this command to work in JAWS 14. It is listed as a JAWS command. Does
anyone know why it does not work and/or how else I can accomplish copying
and renaming worksheets?

Thanks,

Annette

Trish, just install Adobe Flash Player from the following page and be sure
to uncheck the box for installing Google Chrome and Tool Bar, which is
checked by default. This should install Flash Player for IE without any
unwanted software. However, if you use this same page to download and
install Flash Player for Firefox, you will automatically install a little
utility called McAfee Security Scan Plus. There is no way to deselect this

2013-12-04 Thread Scott Duck
Hi Annette,
I'm not sure about using the JAWS commands to do it but you can use the
Excel 2003 shortcuts to do it in Excel2010 as well. To add a sheet, press
alt I, followed by W. This will add a sheet before the sheet that you are
currently on. To rename a worksheet, press alt O, followed by H, followed
by R. You will land in an edit field which contains the name of the sheet
and you can change it and then press enter. I am using Excel 2010 and
that's how I do it. I have never used the JAWS specific commands for this
so I have no comment concerning that.
HTH,
Scott Duck

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Inserting/Adding a Worksheet in Excel 2010

Thanks,

Annette

Hi Sugar. I've not been folloing this thread but happened to open this one

Ninite and download adobe from there. The install is simple and you won't

Be aware of the install of additional toolbar's and software.

That's what it's supposed to be. It just doesn't work on some systems. I
could see the check mark with my very enlarged Magic and uncheck it this

concerned, it just wasn't there. And yet, I'd been able to use Jaws

Hi Annette,
I'm not sure about using the JAWS commands to do it but you can use the
Excel 2003 shortcuts to do it in Excel2010 as well.

Re: [JAWS-Users] For Sugar, adobe

2013-12-04 Thread Steve

Walter,

For the past four months or so, Ninite dropped Adobe's support. As an
alternative, I'd recommend

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

If you look at their site at the first table, there are .exe and .msi
downloads for both Adobe Flash for IE and Adobe Flash plug-ins for other
browsers. They don't appear to have the checkbox that attempts to load the
google toolbar or Goole chrome browsers either.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Nothing has changed on the web site. I can locate this check box just fine
by pressing X with either JAWS 9 or NVDA 2013.3. More likely, there is a
bug in later versions of JAWS that prevents it from landing on this check
box when you hit X. This bug should be brought to the attention of FS
tech support.

That's what it's supposed to be. It just doesn't work on some systems. I
could see the check mark with my very enlarged Magic and uncheck it this
last time. But Jaws refused to find it with the X. As far as Jaws was
concerned, it just wasn't there. And yet, I'd been able to use Jaws
previously. Something has changed, maybe something on the website.

Trish, just install Adobe Flash Player from the following page and be
sure to uncheck the box for installing Google Chrome and Tool Bar,
which
is checked by default. This should install Flash Player for IE
without

any unwanted software. However, if you use this same page to download

Walter,

For the past four months or so, Ninite dropped Adobe's support. As an
alternative, I'd recommend

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

If you look at their site at the first table, there are .exe and .msi
downloads for both Adobe Flash for IE and Adobe Flash plug-ins for other
browsers. They don't appear to have the checkbox that attempts to load
the google toolbar or Goole chrome browsers either.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

2013-12-04 Thread Dujari, Prateek
Hello. Any issues at all using Internet Explorer ver. 11 with JFW 15 on a Win7
or a Win8 PC? Is transitioning to IE11 from IE10 on a Win7 PC pretty
transparent?.

If you know that you are running the latest version of Flash, then ignore
the update that you are being offered. Otherwise, get the latest update from
a trusted site, not a random website that you are visiting.

The kspewter.com site insists that I need to update flash player. I have
 the
latest 11.9 something and the website tells me that I need to update
 flash.
Is this an internet explorer problem? using the latest IE on a win 7 32
 bit
 machine.

Hi Lenny.

Try using http://www.adobe.com/flash
Use the letter g to navigate to the graphic's that attend to the Adobe Flash
player installation.

Be aware of the install of additional toolbar's and software.

The install progress has changed, so it can be a bit frustrating to complete
for a jaws user.

There is no way to deselect
 this
program when you install Flash Player for Firefox, so if you don't want it

2013-12-04 Thread Tammy Freitag
Ok, getting frustrated with updating flash. I went to
www.get.adobe.com/flashplayer and got the program started installing.
It did have google tool bar and google chrome with it. I did not see
a way to uncheck them. Ok, figured I would just install it for now.
The software gets part way and then I get a message to turn off the
folloing programs and try again. One program is called scripthelp. I
have no idea what that is, nor do I know how to turn it off. Next it
wants the installer closed. That seems a bit odd. Would you have any
suggestions to try? I am trying to do the updates on a Windows 7,
64bit machine with Jaws 13 and IE 10. I sure appreciate the help!
Thanks!

Have you tried going to a different version of jaws first as an example if

 Hi Lenny.

 Try using http://www.adobe.com/flash
Use the letter g to navigate to the graphic's that attend to the Adobe
 Flash player installation.

Be aware of the install of additional toolbar's and software.

The install progress has changed, so it can be a bit frustrating to
 complete for a jaws user.

IE 11 works fine for me. If you use autocomplete and want to hear the
selection in the address bar, you might have to shift tab, then tab back
to it before you start entering the address. Also, for me, every now and
then I'll be reading a page, then jaws starts saying blank no matter
what you do. I think this issue is more with this computer though as I
have a different one running Windows Xp and IE 8. That one does not have
this problem.

2013-12-04 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein

Hi again.

Try this solution on the standard flashplayer update page:
Press spacebar on the Google Crome and Toolbar box, and arrow than several
times down, and under the download button, you'll find an information on,
how great your download size is.
If this is about 16 mb, than you have unchecked the Google Crome and
Toolbar.
If it is above 50 mb, than you still have checked the box for Crome and
Toolbar.

Try to read the message from this line untill you're secure, and than press
the download button.

folloing programs and try again. One program is called scripthelp. I
have no idea what that is, nor do I know how to turn it off. Next it
wants the installer closed. That seems a bit odd. Would you have any

IE 11 works fine for me. If you use autocomplete and want to hear the
selection in the address bar, you might have to shift tab, then tab back
to it before you start entering the address. Also, for me, every now and
then I'll be reading a page, then jaws starts saying blank no matter

Hello,

I was able to get adobe flash to load by going to the adobe.com site at the
following link

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Then I went to the download page for adobe flash 11.9 and when it asked me
to run or save I told it to save it to my computer. I then closed any
internet explorer window then went to where I had saved it and ran the
program the license agreement button, the install button, and the done
button were all accessible by tabbing to them. I hope this helps!

TTammy, I have the same problem. I have had it for about a year. When
ever
I go to update flash, it tells me to close the installer. How is that
possible? Another problem that I have is that if I turn my compputer off,
the flash player is gone. I am using windows seven and jaws fourteen. I
am
using windows seven and jaws fourteen on my desk top and don't have this
problem, but have it on my desk top. Don't know what to do.

Thanks!

I know in the past there use to be a key think it was x or z not sure
and not sure if I had to press control or alt but it would allow for
the check box to be unchecked but think since I have jaws 14 it is
not friendly anymore..so do I have to just install it as is then go back

and uninstall?

Have you tried going to a different version of jaws first as an
example if you have jaws 11, you should be able to go to the page
then go and check to see whether the check mark shows if this check
mark shows, then you should have no problem but if there is no check
mark that shows then we should all right adobe and ask them is there
a work around for this situation? Please let me know what happens!

yeah tell me bout that. I got that update thingy, so I let it
install or rather it takes you to the site, now this is what I run

into..

that toolbar/crome whatever, asking you yes install, but no box to
uncheck, so like what gives, how on earth do you know it's not going
to install if you can't get some kind of confirmation that it isn't

selected?

I could use some help with this as well if you have some tips?

Hi

Re: [JAWS-Users] are there any issues at all using IE 11 with JAWS15 on either a Win7 or Win8 PC?

2013-12-04 Thread soner
Hİ, I dont know about 11, but I can say that Jaws cursor is very very
sluggish with 9 and 10 on Win7 Home Premium 64bit. So I resist using
İE 8. I wonder how nobody faced the same issue? besides, Jaws cursor
is not functional at all on Chrom and Firefox but I have heard nothing
from FS if they will address these issues.

If you know that you are running the latest version of Flash, then ignore
the update that you are being offered. Otherwise, get the latest update from

a trusted site, not a random website that you are visiting.

The kspewter.com site insists that I need to update flash player. I have
 the
latest 11.9 something and the website tells me that I need to update
 flash.
Is this an internet explorer problem? using the latest IE on a win 7 32
 bit
 machine.
