Hi Pete,
No, you shouldn't need the software.
You should be able to just copy your files.

Hi all.
I just purchased a Seagate external drive on which to back up files
currently on my computer.
If it helps, I am currently using Jaws 11, and Windows XP.
Do I have to install the Seagate Dash-board file in order to use my drive?
If so, is this software accessible.
If I don't have to install the software that came with this drive, can I
just start copying files to the drive?
Thanks in advance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Unmuting with JAWS 14

2014-03-14 Thread Flor Lynch

That's the mute speakers button, by pressing the tab key once. The Mute
System Sounds button is four tab further on than that, so you'd press
the tab key five times to get to it.

An easier command to type, is: from the Start (search box edit); sndvol
.
(You may remember sndvol32.exe on older Windows 32-bit systems.) You get
straight to the dialogue box, typing less, that way.

Hello Joni,

If you are running windows seven you can:
1. press start button
2. type in adjust system volume and press enter.
3. tab once and press spacebar to unmute

I hope this helps. You can mute it the first time you try this and
the next time it will unmute the computer. If you do this a few times
you will get comfortable in doing these steps.

Pete,

I don't know about your specific external drive. If it comes up, you
probably don't need to use their software. I am assuming here that you
are talking about a USB external drive.

If you are talking about an external hard disk, you may need to run the
Seagate Disk Wizzard to format the disk so the computer will recognize it.
That shouldn't be necessary with a USB external drive.

I have accidentally muted sounds twice recently. Can anyone tell me the
steps to follow to unmute the computer? I want to write them down so I can
do them in case no eyes are available. I don't know what I am hitting that
mutes, but last time I was using the find command and must have hit a bad
key combo. I am using JAWS 14 on Windows 7. Thanks.

Try this when you have outlook open:
1. open your tools menu and down arrow to options and press enter.
2.press control tab until you hear other
3. tab until you hear a check box labeled empty deleted folder upon exiting
and make sure it is unchecked.

4. tab to the ok button and press enter.

This should take care of your problem. I hope this helps!

Robin,
What type of problem are you having with AttachMate Extra? Are you saying
too much text is spoken?
I am retired now, since last December, but I used to work in AttachMate
Extra using JAWS.

Folks, when using the speech verbosity settings if you change it from
beginner to advance there seems to be no affect using the emulator
Attachmate Extra or attachmate Reflections to access mainframe data.

It was thought that by changing the verbosity from beginner to advance the
text spoken would be less but there seems to be no change. This was done
while in the application and saved so it would be application specific.

Even played with the configuration under advance settings with no avail...

It works, of course on other more basic applications.

Any thoughts in regards to the "verbosity" of an application like Attachmate
Extra or attachmate Reflections?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachmate Extra and Attachmate Reflections with JAWS 12

2014-03-14 Thread Bissett, Tom
Attachmate and other mainframe emulators do not give much information out of
the box. I think that is why changing the verbosity has little effect.
If you could be more specific as to what the extra speech is or what you wish
to accomplish I may be able to be of some help.

Tom Bisset
