[JAWS-Users] Freedom Scientific Webinars Are Back!

2016-10-13 Thread Jim Slagle
The first webinar was about Jaws 18.
It was on October 12, and you can listen to the archive.
Several more webinars are scheduled.

It has been ten months since the last webinar!
Freedom Scientific should announce the return of webinars, after such a long
interval.

Hi Greg,
I got these notes from a class I took about Excel at Hadley Institute. I
hope it's what you're looking for.

FORMATTING CELLS FOR SPECIFIC DATA:
1. Line up on the cell you want to format.
2. Press the Applications key and look for the Format option.
3. The display starts with Number and you tab to the settings.
The next option is the type of data for that cell. It includes General,
Numbers, Currency.
If Currency is chosen, the next option is number of decimal points.
Next is the choice of mark. I chose Dollar.
4. There's a Negative Number option which was skipped.
5. Finally, move to the Okay and press Enter.
Once a cell has been formatted, you can copy that information, highlight the
other cells in the column and press Control V which pastes the same
formatting into the other cells in that column.

All we need is for things to keep running smoothly and our collective
ability to do the job so to speak. Now that Bob has past 50, don't tell
anybody but he is getting up in years and starting to slow down a bit. For
now I have paid for the domain another 3 years with the option to renew if
at that time I decide to do so.

We are quite pleased with the fact this is a good group of people who
obviously want things to move forward looking ahead to 2017.

I was worried about the drop in list traffic, looks like I still know how to

Hi David,

In my opinion, this list is not close to have run its course. I think that
right now we are in a smooth sailing period with JAWS and most of the
commonly used applications and no one is running into major issues. Of
course you have faced the problem with mail compatibility, so I am not sure
how many users that has impacted. I do think as soon as JAWS18 officially
hits the streets there will be an increase in traffic, as well as when
updates to commonly used products become available.

I personally am very appreciative of the hard work and effort you and the
team put into keeping this list up and running. I've learned a lot, and try
to pay it back by contributing whenever possible. This list fills a gap
that is not able to be filled by FS/VFO Technical Support on many levels.
Please no one take that as a slam to FS/VFO.

Thank you David & Team!

Annette

I am a bit concerned over the significant drop in list traffic over the past
several weeks. Granted Microsoft has blocked out this domain and earlier
this year road runner did the same thing. Also in the past com cast and
others have done the same.

It might be possible that the list has run its’ course. It is 11 years old
this week as a matter of fact which I find hard to believe myself.

Let’s see how things go for a while before any major decisions are made so
don’t anybody panic at this point. I am just expressing my concern about the
way things have dropped off so much. It had to happen sooner or later. The
fact is I have no idea how long the average email list stays in business, I
suppose that would be an interesting study.

Now to sit back and see what kind of response this message generates.

I have an interesting problem with an unknown device. I am not sure if I
have a flaky mother board or something in windows. It is an unknown usb
device and there is no driver for it.
I must have removed it at least 5 times. After a few days it pops up again.
With sighted help I tried to repair windows but this is only for a system
that will not start.
There are two other options install or upgrade. I am not sure but I think
that the install will will remove all of my files and programs. Since it is
the same version of windows 7 home premium would the upgrade work? I also
thought about removing all usb drivers and devices and having windows search
for new hardware. This is an old 32 bit machine and I do not want to take it
to a computer shop. I think I would be then throwing good money after bad.
thanks for any suggestions.

I was worried about the drop in list traffic, looks like I still know how to
get things pumping again.

Thank you to all who have chimed in to put my concerns to rest.

updates to commonly used products become available.

The message that you are getting:

is UAC (user account control)
When this dialogue pops up, you have to answer yes or no.
Once you have said yes, the dialogue shouldn't appear anymore, when it does

If you are not saying yes to this dialogue, that may be the root of the problem.

Outlook. Sometimes I'll have 1 document open. Now, it doesn't seem to take

can't do anything with it until it lets me. When it finally gives in, I can

get other sounds on it but I have to relaunch Jaws. Ok, I go to the desktop

want to allow this program to make changes to my computer.

This is geting very old and annoying! I have already worked with Microsoft

I had esset, Norton and Avast removed from my system. The only anti virus I
