The late Jim Kitchen had a trivia game within his set of games. I don't remember if David had a direct link to his website, but I think his game page address was: http://www.kitchensinc.net/# But you can get all the games at the following website: https://www.agarchive.net/pages/devs/kitchensinc.html Hope this helps. [JAWS-Users] Using JFW 18 with a Braille Display for Gmail Calendars
Dear All First time of posting here. I'm using JFW 18 with a 80 cell Braille display at work, and wonder if anyone has any hints and tips on accessing a Gmail calendar system in the work place? I have MS outlook which is sinked to my Gmail calendar so I can edit and amend where necessary in outlook, but I need to access other colleagues Gmail calendars and wonder if I can do this in outlook? I've tried several times but just been unable to make any sense of what JAWS is telling me. Hope someone can please offer any hints and tips. Hi, Yes, I have to complete a few required webinars every year. They're through the Florida Dept. of Children and Families website and are all inaccessible. The only way I can complete them is the same way you did using a coworkers help. Definitely not a good way but no other choice. Re: [JAWS-Users] Dos Box environment?
I don't think FS put effort on this, at least in the short term. While virtual machines aren’t only a jeek thing but also widely used in enterprise and server scenarios, since in these scenarios virtual machines are required for testing, compatibility or security purposes on production tools, audio hardware sharing or emulation is not really a priority, so it is normal this is not commercially interesting for Freedom Scientific. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of JM Casey Sent: Friday, September 29, 2017 2:22 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Dos Box environment? Interesting. You'd think FS would put some effort into making their product work with virtual machines, especially as I guess most computers nowadays can handle them. But maybe it's only "geeks and weirdos" who want to do such things? I always forget about NVDA; I really haven't played with it enough. That does seem like the sensible option, though. I even have a copy of it on my backup drive that I could easily install. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Fernando Gregoire Sent: September 29, 2017 10:48 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Dos Box environment? In Windows 7 I used Windows XP Mode, which is a free Windows XP image pre-activated downloadable from Microsoft to use in Windows Virtual PC, an add-in for Windows 7 which is also free. HyperV en Windows 10 is more difficult to use with XP in order to get audio, so you can use another alternative like VMWare. Regarding JAWS, in virtual machines I only could install versions 4.2 and earlier. 4.51 and latter fails during installation, because virtual machines often use generic video drivers and therefore the FS Video Intercept display chaining driver cannot be installed. Being aware of this, it is simpler to use NVDA on virtual machines. 2017-09-28 13:35 GMT-03:00 JM Casey: > Hey guys. > > Audyssey forum...sounds familiar. I have gone into the control panel, and under programs to try to uninstall it, and every option; whether it is under the File menu, or going through the applications (shift F10), I cannot seem to get rid of it. But whenever I try to use these options, it opens the program, and none of the navigations work i.e. the jaws cursor, or the tab keys. I am using Windows 10, JAWS 17, on a Dell laptop. Re: [JAWS-Users] question is there a way to use the real speek voices with jaws and to be able to see a list of each voice and switch between them to choose the one you like?
You should see the voices in the "voice adjustment" dialogue, under "person", if you have the realspeak selected in the menu you described. From there, you can create a voice profile with the voice of your choosing. There aren't any voice profiles there until you create them. Did you run the executable to install the voices you downloaded? Unless you downloaded the compact voice pack (which I think was still a thing in Realspeak), you'll have to run each .msc file individually to install the voice data. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of mi...@eastlink.ca Sent: September 30, 2017 4:19 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] question is there a way to use the real speek voices with jaws and to be able to see a list of each voice and switch between them to choose the one you like? Re: [JAWS-Users] Intro and Internet Explorer Problem
yes, it stores a cookie for amazon. but all you have to do is log out of one amazon site and log in to the other to replace the cookie and amazon will remember the last web site you logged on to and use that one each time unless you change back again to the normal site. -Original Message- From: Steve Sent: Saturday, September 30, 2017 9:42 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Intro and Internet Explorer Problem I believe when you install the access page for Amazon, it stores a cookie on your machine so it will remember that you want the access page every time you open your browser. So, go looking in your cookies area under IE, I think it is on the General, Settings page, look for View Files. An alternative is to type shell:cache from the Run command. Then, just do a search for cookie.admin.amazon.com If you delete any cookies associated with Amazon, you may need to re-create your account log-in meaning, it won't remember if you chose to automatically sign-in and/or it will not remember your username, but your account will still be there. But, that will allow you to access the normal site. I believe in myself to be a relatively computer-wise person most of the time, but I have a problem that has me stumped this time, and hoping someone here might have an idea for me. I called Amazon about this problem, and they could not help me, they don't have a clue. Anyway, what happened is that I was trying to help someone with little computer skills, via eMail, because he was having a problem with making some purchases from Amazon.com. So I suggested that he try the access page by typing in the Amazon.com URL with /access at the end. He could not make that simple thing happen, so I told him that I would eMail him the URL, because he can press enter on a link. Well, all that helped, but to be sure that the /access page was still going on with Amazon, I actually did it first from my Internet Explorer. It is, and I copied the URL and sent it to him, and that was the end of his problems, and the beginning of mine. I prefer IE over FireFox, which I also have installed. But now, there is no way I can get to a non-access page on Amazon.com, and I would prefer the non-access page, because I don't want separate links for reviews and details, and I like headings on pages, which the access pages lack. I can copy the URL from IE, and paste it into the open page dialog in FF, and I get a normal non-access page. So I tried to copy the non-access URL from FF, and paste it into the open page dialog in IE, and it takes me to an access page in IE. I am using Windows 7 64 bit and the latest IE for windows 7 and Jaws 18. I'm thinking that this is a cookie problem. I looked under my name-folder and found cookies, but windows treats it like a file and asks me which program to open it with. I had asked on another list and a good suggestion was to export my cookies and then delete the cookie folder, and then import the cookies. I did that, and with IE all closed out, but when I went back in, I still get Amazon's access page. I'm hoping for another suggestion. Thanks. [JAWS-Users] webinars
I did whilst working at AAA Northern New England many a time, in the 15 years there. What I did used is PC cursor and worked. Geno, Portland, ME. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Judy Sent: Friday, September 29, 2017 6:18 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] webinars Good evening all, Recently at work we had to watch/listen to a webinar about safety in the work place and then take a quiz at the end. This was a requirement for all staff, and of course it didn't work with Jaws at all. I couldn't log in using Jaws, had to turn it off and have a sighted coworker do it and then listen to it and have a coworker read the quiz and check my answers as it just didn't work with Jaws. Have any of you had to do this kind of thing at work and have similar problems, or have you listened to a webinar for something accessibility oriented that was usable with your screen reader? I'm appreciate any input on this. Thanks in advance.
