First I really do not want to purchase a new machine at this time. The
problem that I have with my network drivers microsoft can not correct. The
computer is a 2009 machine running win 7 32 bit. The corrupted driver can
not be updated or reinstalled. the manufacturer no longer has a 32 bit
driver on their web site. One thing that I am not sure of is if I could use
my origional 32 bit windows install to run a repair and keep all of my files
and programs. If that would work I would go that way. Microsoft is willing
to create a product key and download the 64 bit os and install it on my
machine.I hate to go through the work to reinstall programs and try to
recover product keys and all emails on the new os. Now for me it would be
the same amount of work if I purchased a new desktop.

I was asking about your e-mail client because I know how to save all
your settings and messages in Thunderbird. I dont know how to do that
for WLM.
You can get a cheap LAN to USB dongle and see if that fixes your issue.
Or even an LAN PCI card.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. Is anyone else having these problems with JAWS 2018?

Yesterday, I reported a solution to my problem in Outlook 2010 reading
messages that contain tables. Unfortunately, the fix is working only in some
cases. In most, I'm now finding that messages with tables can't be read.
I've had to revert to JAWS 18 to read them.

With IE11 and JAWS 2018, I lose my place on a webpage each time I go away
from it. It's especially annoying when I'm taking notes and need to switch
back and forth. For this reason also, I've had to revert to JAWS 18.

Hello George,
That's correct; in the JAWS2018 build prior to build 42 released
yesterday auto-fill in Outlook2016 Office365 was broken. This is when
one enters an address in the to or cc fields and suggestions are
announced by JAWS for the address entered.
To resolve this issue, one should download build 42 from the
freedomscientific website and install over the top of JAWS2018. JAWS18
is also broken with this feature and my understanding is that an
update for this should be released soon. I just got off the phone
earlier with a technical support rep and this is what I was advised

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook autofill

2017-11-02 Thread David Whitehead
well, unfortunately, the release on the freedom scientific download page is
for the jaws 2018 version, and yes, the fix works for the outlook autofill,
however, the jaws18 still needs the attention.

Hello,
Besides the auto-fill issue, I do not believe that there are any other
enhancements, but I am not sure. I think if there were anything major it
would have been released through the JAWS updates feature rather than by
download from the web.

Re: [JAWS-Users] locked screen;

2017-11-02 Thread David Whitehead
yeah, actually it's quite annoying,
I even tried,

1, "C:\Windows\SystemApps"

2, "C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.LockApp_cw5n1h2txyewy"
this is the lock screen app,
I renamed the folder,
by placing .bak at the end of this, doing this is supposed to disable the
app, so far? no cigar.

so, back to the drawing board.

David,

Interesting you bring this up today. Last night for the 5th time that I was
working with Dell Tech support since I got this new computer, I asked him to
explain what was going on when I was logging in as I was having problems.
He said that there is a splash screen that pops up. It seemed that if I
pressed a key, it would go away and then I could log in. The Tech then when
into some Windows setting and changed a setting or 2 so that the screen does
not pop up. When he rebooted, he said that something was still coming up,
but I seemed to get in easier. I have however, noticed a significant
improvement when logging back in after the computer goes to sleep.

Sorry that I cannot provide exact instructions, but maybe this will point
you in the right direction.

Annette

Just to clear this up, I believe you made a simple typing error at the end
of your post. A 32 bit version of JAWS will not work on a 64 bit system even
though many 32 bit programs will JAWS is an exception in this case. Also the
32 bit version has X86 in it's name to distinguish itself.

Hi,
I wouldn't worry too much about tandem versus non-tandem versions in your
case. (The appropriate tandem settings come with the Home Edition when you
install.) Is your Windows Operating System 64-bit or 32-bit? (Most
contemporary systems sport 64-bit.) Depending on which it is, choose either
the 32-bit or the 64-bit Home Edition of JAWS. (The 32 or 64 is in the file
name of the version you download.) A 32-bit version of JAWS will not run on
a 32-bit Windows.

Hello. Am wondering about the regular Jaws verses the non tandem could
someone please explain? Back in July I got the home edition and would
like to download the latest version but which one do I choose? I am not
on a work related network firewall and when I did check the home edition
on my computer under utilities seems like the tandem section is
available. I just want to make sure if I did install Jaws which one
would it be cause when looking at the downloads page I see there are two
sets being that the first set is the regular version and the second set
of files are the non tandem versions. Yes was reading the list someone
mentioned more webinars. That would be really nice for us newbies. Plus
walk throughs actual demos in doing stuff with jaws all up to date.

Where did you do the insert V at?
I was in my outlook, and when I pressed insert V, it did nothing.
I have a hard time reading when I get emails in a table.
Patti
I'm posting this in case it helps others. Some email I receive is set up in
table form. I struggled with one just now because JAWS 2018 distracted me
with information I didn't need and seemed to have difficulty reading the
entire contents. I went to JAWS quick settings with JAWS key+v and found two
options under "Word," then "Tables," that I unchecked. One was for reading
coordinates, the other for table detection. With both unchecked, JAWS read
the message fine.
