Yes, it will definitely work with that version of JAWS. Yes, but do you also find that on certain sites, elements are either missing or do not activate? For instance, Youtube. When I want to get into my library, when trying to activate the Guide button, nothing happens. In m.facebook.com, the link to events is totally missing. Those are just two examples of a few sites that really don't work right with Chrome. I like it so much better, though, and would ditch IE if I could. I used to use Firefox, but find it crashes a lot. Increasing frustrations with Internet Explorer are leading me to think about giving Chrome a try. I'm interested in hearing more detail about this tutorial. Hi! Definitely Google Chrome browser. JAWS is very snappy in Chrome, and the Chrome browser loads pages and handles downloads very quickly. I have a tutorial on Using Google Chrome, a Text tutorial, that is very up to date if you guys want it. Yes! I can hardly use IE with JAWS anymore on my Win10 1709 laptops. Chrome is so much better than JAWS. The Chrome browser is much faster, more secure, and very accessible. IE 11, is about done with using any screen reader. I would definitely switch to Firefox, or Chrome, Chrome even better. It really depends on the web-site, and page elements, as Chrome handles certain elements differently than IE does. I have to use a combination of browsers at this point. [JAWS-Users] Surface pro with draws and pearl camera
Is anyone on the list using this combination? It seems like it would be pretty ideal for totally portable use. I know you can get the type cover for the surface, and I guess as such things go, it’s OK. But I’m wondering about using a regular USB keyboard with it. Or how is it if you just want to use it as a tablet with jaws? I think that would be a substantial learning curve. Anyway, curious about experiences. Hi, Provided you have JAWS 18.0 (latest build) and/or 2018 and Windows 10 Creators Update and later, JAWS will work with Edge. Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for JAWS Key in Laptop Mode
if you are using the laptop jaws keyboard, the jaws key is the shift lock key. Legend has it that on Sunday 12/10/2017 10:59 PM, Michele Thredgold said: Hi listers. Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for JAWS Key in Laptop Mode
you can still use the capslock key for the jaws key with the desktop layout if you want too. load the default applactations script. go to the keyboard/general/insert key then press enter on insert key to change it to the capslock key for the jaws key. and save your changes. -Original Message- From: Judy Jones Sent: Monday, December 11, 2017 9:27 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for JAWS Key in Laptop Mode If you go into Jaws Basic Settings, and tab through, you have the option to use desktop or laptop layout. Re: [JAWS-Users] Changing Microsoft Defaults for More JAWS-Friendly Programs
You can go into your control panel, set program defaults. You will be presented with a list of all your programs. If you want Internet Explorer as your default browser, find it in the list, then tab over to Set As Default, enter, go to OK, hit enter again. Same thing if you want a particular music player as your default. To set your search engine preference, that is done from within the browser's settings. Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws question with Firefox
I have no idea. This might sound hilarious but I am actually getting precisely the opposite result. I hit "h" four times in iE and get the story; only hit it once in Firefox. Interesting, but not altogether unexpected I guess; not all browsers are the same and they display content differently. Plus if you have JAWS set to non-screen web layout it reorganises the data as well. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dennis Long Sent: December 11, 2017 10:33 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] jaws question with Firefox Hi, if I read this link in internet explorer when I press h one time it takes me to the heading1 and right to the story it doesn't do that in Fire Fox. Re: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Notice Inquiry
I usually played along with them for a few minutes, acting all shocked and panicky. Then I'd say something like "so do you mean the computer in the garage, the one in the bathroom, or the pink one in Molly's room?", or when they tell me to go to event viewer, suddenly exclaim that all my computers actually run Linux and not Windows. I got one guy to tell me to "go to hell" in a voice like an arab bad guy from a Hollywood movie. Re: [JAWS-Users] Making annotations with eBooks
For epubs, possibility and its accessibility depends on the reader used. Microsoft Edge allows to take notes on epubs in the same way as web pages, but even if it is accessible, Edge is still very slow to use with JAWS. Does anyone know if reviewing takenn notes on a PDF file with Adobe Reader is accessible? Adding the notes seems as easy as selecting the relevant text, opening the context menu, going to the Add a Note option, typing the note and okaying. 2017-12-10 22:05 GMT-03:00 Cristóbal: > Hello list, > > So was wondering on people’s strategies for taking notes or if they want to > make annotations in an eBook they may be reading.
