Re: [JAWS-Users] help With keystroke alt+M +jawskey
I have come across this keystroke on websites that I believe reflect consultations from a certain Web accessibility company. I know one website for sure that hired this consultant and uses this keystroke. It comes with a verbalization along the lines that to open such-and-such, press... It helps me appreciate the care VFO and its predecessors have made to assign sensible key combinations for JAWS commands. I'm concerned that Web accessibility consultants are increasingly missing the forest for the trees. Another website that relied on an accessibility consultant has so many headings per page that their usefulness is negated. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mr. Ed Sent: Sunday, February 11, 2018 6:03 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] help With keystroke alt+M +jawskey What does that keystroke do? -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Andy Baracco Sent: Sunday, February 11, 2018 4:22 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] help With keystroke alt+M +jawskey I don't know what bright soul came up with the idea for that kind of salute. Re: [JAWS-Users] help With keystroke alt+M +jawskey
you don't have to change to the laptop layout if you are useing a desktop keyboard. you can open the jaws settings center with jaws 6. then press control shift d to change to the default settings center. then arrow to keyboard, general, then to desktop jaws key and press the space bar on it to switch it between capslock or insert for the jaws key. then you won't have to reach across the keyboard to get to the insert jaws key. but in this mode you have to press alt capslock to turn the capslock key on or off. -Original Message- From: Hans Pauli Sundstein Sent: Sunday, February 11, 2018 8:10 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] ***SPAM*** help With keystroke alt+M +jawskey Hi. Hello Judy, If you actually mean a header then the following doesn't apply. I am thinking you likely mean that you want to make the first sentence of a paragraph a heading. The following applies in Word: You can select a sentence by pressing function key 8 three times. If using a mouse in Word you can hold down CTRL and do a single left click on a word to select the entire sentence. You can use a Word built-in heading style or one you have created. To use heading 1 style use Alt with CTRL and 1. This makes the selection a heading 1 style having a 16-point size of the Calibri Lite font and the font color is blue. If you use CTRL with Alt and 2 you get a heading 2 style, which is the same font and font color but the size is 13 point. Using CTRL with Alt and 3 will use a heading 3 style, which is the same font but size 12 point. If by chance you mean you want the first line of a paragraph to be a heading then just select the line by moving focus on to it and using shift key with down arrow to select it. You can then use shortcut keys for the appropriate heading. There are of course many styles to choose from but the first three levels of headings are quite often used in Word documents. If you actually mean you want to create a header where text goes above the document in the empty white space of the top margin then of course steps are different. Take care. This is how I handle it. Insert Mode Jaws 18 1, Open the Settings Center in either of these 2 ways. A, Press, Insert / Jaws Key + 6, on the number row above the main keyboard. B, Press, Insert / Jaws Key + F2, 2, With the Settings Center open press, control, shift , + D, to open the Settings Center Default All Applications. 3, Arrow down to, Users, right arrow to open. 4, Arrow down to, Insert Key Mode, press space bar to check this box. Here's the explanation of this option: When selected, the INSERT key functions as a sticky key. Any key pressed immediately after pressing the INSERT key is treated as if it were pressed in combination with the INSERT key. This check box is cleared by default. 5, tab to ok, press the space bar I hope it will help you. Now you don't have to stretch your fingers, smiles. Hi George, These key strokes can be accomplished in this manor: First, with the pointer finger of your right hand, press the insert key, or JAWS key. Second, with your left hand, place the thumb on the Alt key and with the pointer finger of your left hand place it on the M key. Please note that the M key is just above the Alt key on the right side of your keyboard. I hope this helps? George, have you tried going into the "sticky keys" setting in the "ease of access settings"?The control for this is under "make the keyboard easier to use". In this setting which you can check, you can touch keys sequentualy for a command. [JAWS-Users] question regarding magic blue ray ripper
I seem to at times have trouble using this program. Quite often it works fine but then there are moments where what I have been doing for the last couple of months just does not want to work. I realize this might not be the best place to ask this but for the time being this is the only tech list I am subscribed. Guess I kind of have to so far as that goes. I have magic DVD ripper knocked so that is no problem, but the blue ray version like I said gives me issues. David Ferrin Life is what happens after you have already made other plans. Hi. Change keyboard layout in Jaws to "Laptop" and you'll be able to use the Capslock key as Jawskey. Hello again, I understand how to manually format for font, underline and bold with the control key keystrokes, but was wondering how to make the first sentence in a paragraph a header. Thanks again.
