I don't know the answer to this, because I use programs that don't use
ribbons and really don't understand the concept. But a friend was in a
program--I'm assuming maybe an email program--and she did something and
all Jaws says is lower ribbon. How can she get out of that menu and
get Jaws to read correctly again without being stuck in this lower
 ribbon thing?

Thanks so much for any help.

You have spell check before sending turned on.
To turn off Assuming office 2010 do the following:
Go to File Menu and select options.
In the Outlook options dialogue select Mail then tab to the Always
check spelling before sending check box.
Untick this then press OK button.

 Hope this helps.

Hello Mick,

Try this when you have outlook open:
1. open your tools menu and down arrow to options and press enter.
2.press control tab until you hear other 3. tab until you hear a check box
labeled empty deleted folder upon exiting and make sure it is unchecked.
4. tab to the ok button and press enter.

This should take care of your problem. I hope this helps!

more people listed that way than in my address book or contacts folder. If
they are in there obviously, because they come up when writing an email, why
aren't they listed in my contacts? I am using Windows 7, Outlook for email

Hello list
Over the past 15 years I spent in access of $2500 for the original JAWS 3.3
and all the upgrades up to the current version 14. Today I tried to instal
Office 2013 on my windows 7 laptop as well as on a windows 8 tablet. I could
only go through the install process up to a certain stage from where JAWS
could not reag the prompts and the JAWS cursor only says blank, blank. I
then installed the free NVDA and it could read the prompts and the entire
screen and I could complete the setup on both devices.
What a shame for a company claiming they have the best screen reader!!!

Fanus

I know that Fs braille displays work with 64 bit Jaws and windows but I find

I really prefer the regular FB page to the mobile. Now with Jaws 13 and IE9
I can use the h navigation or the number 5 for headings and go down my
status newsfeed very easily. And now it keeps going for lots and lots of
statuses. Before it would only let me go through about 10 or so and I could
not get it to go to the next page.

To navigate on the mobile page I always used the n key since there are no
headings. Then I could read the status but not who it was from. And the
pages are short so I had to find the More Stories button to go to the next
page over and over.
On the regular site it just keeps scrolling and scrolling now and I can keep
reading until I get to where they start repeating ones I have already read.
Am I the only one who likes the regular FB site better?

 Hello all,

I have a problem with the JAWS BrailleIn feature. I'm running the
latest build of JAWS 13, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

The problem is when I try to quickly insert two new line characters on
my Braille display by pressing ENTER twice in succession. Rather than
inserting the two new lines, JAWS instead exhibits some weird
behaviour which is difficult to explain. It usually inserts one new
line character as requested, but doesn't insert the other. Instead, I
notice that either my cursor has been moved slightly, or there's a
random space that has appeared somewhere on the new line, or both
things happen. Again, it's the weirdest thing and very difficult to
explain. But basically, I can't insert two new line characters in a
row properly. The only way is to insert a new line, type some text,
move my cursor back, and then insert the other new line.

At the moment I'm using a Humanware BrailleNote as my Braille display,
so it's very possible that the behaviour is specific to the Humanware
 displays.

Has anyone experienced any odd behaviour like this with any model of
 Braille display?

 Thanks,

 Grant

There are several displays that will work well, or reasonably well, with
JAWS. I know that any of the Focus Blue models will go nicely with JAWS, as
well as possibly having other uses such as with Bluetooth on mobile phone.
The Focus40 Blue is a lot slimmer than your powerBraille 40 (which isn't
being made any more, of course). It's also shorter; and there are now
appearing newer models of the focus Blue which are smaller than the one I
got last year.

Sight Sound can advise on availability and price. Tris is perhaps the most
knowledgeable guy in their tech support on braille displays there.
Blazie UK also know their stuff.

Hi Mick.

I hope that this adwise is somewhere correct, because I live in Denmark, and
use my computer with Danish interface, so I am not quit sure of, how
everything is labeled on an english/American system.

Press the Windows key, to get the search field up, and than type: Adjust
screen resolution
See if you are getting a result, that matches this, and press enter on it.
Tab to the compobox where your current scrren resolution setting is shown,
and if this is higher than approximate 1280 * 720 than reduce the resolution
in this compobox and select apply and than ok.

Hope this work's for you.

Hans Pauli.

Hi again Mick.

Probably it is not about your printer, the problem consist's, but because
you'r screen resolution.
If your screen setting's are set to 1600 / 900 or 1920 / 1080, than you have

to much place on the screen for text, on every line, and than the text will
ran out of the edge of the paper on your printer, when printing out from
this program's, because they have'nt the ability to break the line's
comparing to the printer setting's.

If I am right, reduce the screen solution to 1280 / 720, and see if it
help's.

Good luck.

I have'nt read every message in this thread, so probably you have gotten
this answer before, ... but your last answer gave me the reason to write
this even though.

In Notepad, in the Format menu, at the buttom of the menu you find Word
wrap.
If this is Checked, all is ok, otherwize, press enter on it, so it become's
checked.

In Wordpad, in the View menu, arrow down to the lower ribbon, and tab to the
Word wrap drop down button, and press spacebar, and arrow down to Set to

Press enter here.

Now you should be done!

Hope that you found out to set your printer as default printer.

Hit Enter again on the Volume Mixer menu item. Press Tab until you reach

Hi again Mick.

I have'nt read every message in this thread, so probably you have gotten
this answer before, ... but your last answer gave me the reason to write
this even though.

In Notepad, in the Format menu, at the buttom of the menu you find Word
wrap.
If this is Checked, all is ok, otherwize, press enter on it, so it become's
checked.

In Wordpad, in the View menu, arrow down to the lower ribbon, and tab to the
Word wrap drop down button, and press spacebar, and arrow down to Set to
Window Size.
Press enter here.

Now you should be done!

Hope that you found out to set your printer as default printer.

Hans Pauli.

Not sure if your using notepad or wordpad, If your using notepad, To set

wordrap, If your using the latest version of wordpad, The menus are ribbons,
So you would need to alt+v=view, Now tab to the setting hope this helps.

Goto Unit's and Printers, and be sure, that your printer is set as default
printer, than it should work in every program you try to print out from.

If your using windows 7,
You're not using
MS Outlook Express
Because there's not such a thing.
However MSOutlook is more likely.
So, if you've deleted the files/content inside the inbox, Then, this is as
far as you can go.
You can't delete the inbox, since this is a part of the outlook/pst file.
If I'm understanding you correctly.
Why do you want to delete the inbox?

If you are using the USB card, there is often a brief delay before the

If you are using an inboard sound card, I'd contact Freedom Scientific

Something is definitely interfering with the output of your Jaws.

[JAWS-Users] help

2012-02-02 Thread Mick Du Buisson
Hi there, I think that I've been sending my pleas to the wrong
emailing address. I've got jaws12 and windows 7 on my Comp, but can't seem
to get the jaws voice to come back on when finishing another program,
pressing ctrl+alt+j anymore, just wondering if anyone can enlighten me as I
can't remember how to retrieve it. Thanks...

Jim,

Press alt-s to save. Then you can press control-j to look at the download.

Or, if you would rather, instead of pressing enter on the link to download
it, use the applications key to get to save-target-as and press enter. The
dialog there looks a whole lot like i.e.8.
