Re: [JAWS-Users] low battery

2015-06-21 Thread Nicholas Jackson
Hi Petras,

When you get down to a certain percentage of battery power (ten
percent or so), Jaws should announce Low Battery and advise you to
save your work and plug into an outlet. The message may vary depending
on the model of the computer, but like I said, you should hear
something like this. I've never had it happen when a sighted person
was around, but I think it shows up on the screen as well.

Hello Mohib,

I believe the setting you want is in Control Panel. I'm running
Windows 7/64-Bit, but depending on what operating system/configuration
you have, the procedure may be slightly different. Here's how I do
this.

First, press the Windows start menu button and start typing Control
Panel into the search box. When this pops up, press enter and then the
letter F until you hear Jaws say, Folder Options. From there, press
enter again. You will be on the General tab, so press control tab
until you hear something like View Page. At this point, you can
press tab to enter a tree view which controls how much information is
displayed about Files/Icons. Hit the down arrow key until you hear
something like Hide Extensions for Known File Types. If this is
On, press the Space bar to turn it off, tab to the OK button, and
press enter. Now, you should hear both the name of a file and the
extension as you described. I hope this helps.

If this is what I think it is, there's nothing wrong with your

Hello Jorge,

Research It is a feature that is part of Jaws for Windows, so
there's no need to download any additional program. I believe
that it was first introduced in Jaws 13, so if you have this or
any newer version, it's part of the package. It is a feature
which allows you to check the weather, flight schedules, use Ocr
scanning for various images and documents, convert currency, and
quite a few other functions which I can't remember off the top of
my head.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Finding USB 3.0 ports

Anyone on here can feel free to correct me, but I don't think there's
very much difference between a USB 2.0 and 3.0 port. It sounds like
the colors are different, but other than that, they're probably alike

that may be all. On 11/19/14, Gary Ray ghr...@charter.net wrote:

I also use Facebook's mobile site, and I, too, find that it works a
lot better with Jaws.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Task Manager Keystroke

2014-01-26 Thread nicholas
Alt control delete brings up the Windows log-on screen, but if
you arrow down four times, you should hear Jaws say, Start Task
Manager. I hope this helps.

opening

the windows logon screen or something.

Hi Donnie Kimsan,

Just to add a keystroke to the 1 Señor Justice spoke of, in XP
for sure,

the
keystroke, Alt, Control, + Delete, will also open the task
manager. I

don't
have access to my Win7 computer at the moment to check this
keystroke on

that system. HTH
Take care.

Hi Kimsan,
The keystroke for the Windows Task Manager in Windows XP, Vista
and 7

is:
Control + Shift + Escape
There are other ways to get there, but I thought I'd keep it
simple.

HTH,
Rick Justice

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows7 Jaws11

2014-01-14 Thread nicholas

Hi Mike,

I've used the 64 bit version of Jaws 11 with Windows 7. I found
that the two worked well together, so I think you'll be fine.

Hi All,

Is it possible to run Jaws11 Windows7 either 32 or 64 bit? I'm
thinking
that the lowest version of Jaws you can run with Windows7 is J12.
All input

will be appreciated. Thanks much.
Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows defender

2013-12-21 Thread Nicholas Jackson
Hi Anna,

I do think you can run the two programs at the same time. I have
Windows Defender on my laptop along with another Antivirus program,
and both seem to work without any conflicts. As for turning on Windows
Defender, I'm not entirely sure how to do this, but I'm sure that
someone else on here can probably help and correct me if I'm wrong
about these programs running together.

If so how do I turn windows defender on because it says that it is
 turned off?
and also I need to know how to turn it on because the trial version of
 mcafee is almost up.
I read the PC world info on how to turn it back on but I can not get to
where it says to go because the cursor seems to stay on the close button
 of the dialogue.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am using windows eight and jaws 15

[JAWS-Users] Virtual Phone Systems.

2013-12-17 Thread Nicholas Jackson
Hello everyone,

I was wondering if any of you have had any experience using Jaws for
Windows with the virtual phone system Grasshopper. If so, have you
found that the two work well together? If not, do you know of any that
might work better? Thank you.

Nicholas
