Re: [JAWS-Users] low battery
Hi Petras, When you get down to a certain percentage of battery power (ten percent or so), Jaws should announce Low Battery and advise you to save your work and plug into an outlet. The message may vary depending on the model of the computer, but like I said, you should hear something like this. I've never had it happen when a sighted person was around, but I think it shows up on the screen as well. Re: [JAWS-Users] How can I make jaws to announce the extension of file?
Hello Mohib, I believe the setting you want is in Control Panel. I'm running Windows 7/64-Bit, but depending on what operating system/configuration you have, the procedure may be slightly different. Here's how I do this. First, press the Windows start menu button and start typing Control Panel into the search box. When this pops up, press enter and then the letter F until you hear Jaws say, Folder Options. From there, press enter again. You will be on the General tab, so press control tab until you hear something like View Page. At this point, you can press tab to enter a tree view which controls how much information is displayed about Files/Icons. Hit the down arrow key until you hear something like Hide Extensions for Known File Types. If this is On, press the Space bar to turn it off, tab to the OK button, and press enter. Now, you should hear both the name of a file and the extension as you described. I hope this helps. Hello Jorge, Research It is a feature that is part of Jaws for Windows, so there's no need to download any additional program. I believe that it was first introduced in Jaws 13, so if you have this or any newer version, it's part of the package. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows defender
Hi Anna, I do think you can run the two programs at the same time. I have Windows Defender on my laptop along with another Antivirus program, and both seem to work without any conflicts. As for turning on Windows Defender, I'm not entirely sure how to do this, but I'm sure that someone else on here can probably help and correct me if I'm wrong about these programs running together. If so how do I turn windows defender on because it says that it is turned off? and also I need to know how to turn it on because the trial version of mcafee is almost up. I read the PC world info on how to turn it back on but I can not get to where it says to go because the cursor seems to stay on the close button of the dialogue. any help will be greatly appreciated. [JAWS-Users] Virtual Phone Systems.
Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you have had any experience using Jaws for Windows with the virtual phone system Grasshopper. If so, have you found that the two work well together? If not, do you know of any that might work better? Thank you. Nicholas For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
