Hi Jim,

Here's a couple of other ways to access the Settings Center Default All
Applications, just to add to the collection. Since I run Jaws from the
system tray, this is how I would do it.
1. Insert / Jaws key + J, to open Jaws options.
2. Press the letter, U, to open Utilities, or arrow to, Utilities, & press
enter.
3. Press the letter, E, or arrow up / down to, Settings Center, & press
enter. This way puts you directly into Settings Center Default All
Applications.

If you don't run Jaws from the system tray:
1. Alt + Tab to the Jaws window.
2. Press, Alt + U, to open Utilities.
3. Press the letter, E, or arrow up / down to, Settings Center, & press
enter.

Or,
1.A: From the Jaws window press the, Alt key.
2.A: Right arrow to, Utilities.
3.A: Press the letter, E, or up / down to, Settings Center, & press enter.
Take care.

I do it to take the Jaws window out of the Alt, Tab order. This way when
I'm Alt + Tabbing through various open windos, the Jaws window is 1 less in
the order. Also, this way I can access the Jaws Context Menu / options from

Seen it before and its a long time bug not to get focus on the task

Copy your favorites to a flash drive, and then plug that drive into the new

Hello there;

which operating system are you using?

if it's XP,

1, start menu,

2, control panel,

3, taskbar and start menu,

4, tab and make sure that,
hide inactive icons is not checked,
if it's checked, uncheck with spacebar,

now tab and enter on the okay button.

if xp is not your operating system, let us no.

Hey there,
It seems that the programs for some reason are not going into my system
tray.

I only have fully charged and internet access listed there.
I have Jaws loaded automatically and minimally that should show up.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
Keep Smiling,

[JAWS-Users] system tray

2010-09-20 Thread Becky B.
I find it interesting and puzzling that the only thing that shows up in my
system tray is Dropbox. I have told JAWS to reside in my system tray, as well
as Volume, but neither of the latter show up in the system tray. Any ideas why
this is happening?

Thanks.

Hi Jenny;

Try the following.
From: Dana S. Leslie
dsles...@alumni.princeton.edu
If you are using Windows Xp, here is what you do:
Press the Windows Key then press escape to be in an empty Taskbar, press the
applications key / right click to open the context menu, arrow to
properties, and press enter. This will take you
to the Taskbar properties dialogue. The Notification Area Hide inactive
icons checkbox must be checked for the next step to work. Press alt + C,
for Notification Area Customize..., this opens a list of all
the icons that can appear in the system tray. Scroll down the list till you
find the one you're interested in. Press right arrow, and you will be in a
drop down that offers three choices: Hide when Inactive, Never Show, and
Always show. Select Always Show, and left arrow. Press Enter twice, to save
your changes, and exit.

HOWEVER, I have found that, even though you set a particular icon to Always
Show, some icons have a nasty habit of reverting to Hide When Inactive (the
default), for no reason I have been able to ascertain. If this is the case
with the icon you are concerned with, you will simply have to continually
reset it. I don't know of any way around this apparent. bug.

Steve,

Go to your desktop and hit the tab key until you are on the start button.
Hit the application key and select properties. Use the ctrl/tab key to
select task bar page. There is a check box there that you need to make sure
is unchecked. The name is hide inactive icons. Hope this helps

1. On the taskbar page, click customize in the notification area group.
2. To show all icons regardless of state, check the always show all

3. Click ok.
4. Click ok again.
Hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] system tray problem

2008-12-25 Thread Dana S. Leslie

These instructions are for XP.

From the desktop, tab until JAWS announces that the focus is on the taskbar;
but be sure NOT to right arrow from there, so that you are on an empty part
of the taskbar. Right click, and select Properties, from the taskbar Options
panel.

First, make sure that Hide Inactive Icons is unchecked. Then tab till you
find the Customize button. click on it, and a dialogue opens that allows you
to customize which icons will, and will not, be shown in the system tray.

I must warn you, though, that a number of icons on my system are continually
getting reset, for no reason I can discover, to Hide When Inactive (the
default setting), even though I set them to Always Show. I'm continually
having to go back there, and reset them the way I want them. Then, sometime,
the changes don't take effect until my next reboot.

How long has this been? Perhaps if you restart your computer your volume
will be in your System Tray in its usual conformation. Also, why not open
the volume control via Start menu, programs, Accessories Submenu,

Hi Mike,
It sounds like there could be something obscuring the window.
Either unload, and reload Jaws, or try a re-boot.
As for the volume icon,

Tab to the okay button, and spacebar it, and close out of the control panel.

As far as battery status, couldn't you just use JAWS key+shift+b to find
that out? That should take care of that. As far as icons not showing,
can't exactly help you there.

 Hi guys,

I have a problem with my system tray on my laptop. When i go into it,
 Not
all the time, but most of the time, not all of my icons are appearing.
 For
an example, my battery percentage is not always there. Is there a way to
 fix
 this?
Also I know there is a way to get to my options for selecting what
 appears
in the system tray, by going to the run... dialog. I just can't remember
what i need to type there. Can someone refresh My memory Please?

Hey go into start menu, settings, taskbar and start menu. One of the tabs
there is system tray. make sure the hide enactive icons box is unchecked.
Not sure how to find this dialog in Vista, I've done it but can't remember
where it is. try pressing the applications key on differend parts of the
desktop.

Hello,
If you use that key combo to tell you your battery status it will say
battery status not found if the battery is fully charged.

As far as battery status, couldn't you just use JAWS key+shift+b to find
that out? That should take care of that. As far as icons not showing,
can't exactly help you there.

Re: [JAWS-Users] System tray

2008-04-18 Thread Carlene Knight
It looks like JAWS says that when asked for the battery status in that fashion
if the machine is fully charged and plugged in instead of saying AC power as it
does when I look in the system tray with insert f11. . When I unplugged and
restarted it, it gave me the status just fine.

 Hello,

A program called T-Timer is installed with Spybot Search and Destroy. You
can do the following to stop processes from starting with Windows XP.

 1. Press Windows key with R to bring up the run dialog box, type in
MSCONFIG and press the enter key.
 2. Press the shift key with the tab key to move back to where the page
tabs
are located, then press the end key to move to the Start Up page tab.
 3. Use the tab key to move into a list of programs or processes that
start
 with Windows XP.
 4. Use the down arrow key to move down the list and uncheck any items
that
have to do with T-Timer or Spybot. Use the spacebar to uncheck the items.
 5. When items related to Spybot and T-Timer have been unchecked then tab
to
the apply button and press spacebar.
 6. Use tab key to move to the close button and press enter. You will be
asked to restart your computer and you can choose to restart right away or
 to restart later.

If you want the references to these programs removed from the
configuration
utility, you can remove them from the Windows registry. Keep in mind that
you need to be extremely careful performing any tasks in the Windows
registry as you do not get a choice to undo or cancel your changes once
you
make them. If you want to back up the registry first and you need help
doing it, then feel free to send me an Email at my Email address shown at
 the bottom of this message.

If you want to remove the T-Timer and Spybot entries from the run sections
of the registry then do the following:

 1. Use Windows key with R to bring up the run dialog box.
 2. Type in regedit and press the enter key.
 3. Focus will be in a tree view in the registry. If you are on the My
computer choice then use right arrow to expand the level. JAWS should
tell
you that My computer is open.
 4. use down arrow to move to the registry hive called HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Use the right arrow key to expand the level.
 5. Press the letter S until you hear software and use right arrow to
 expand the level.
 6. Press the letter M until you hear the choice for Microsoft and use
right arrow to open the level.
 7. Press W until you hear the choice for Windows and use right arrow to
 open the level.
 8. Press the letter C until you hear the choice for current version and
then use right arrow to expand the choice.
 9. Press the letter R until you hear the run choice and then use the
tab
key to move into the list view for run.
 10. Use up and down arrow keys to find any entries for Spybot or T-Timer
and use the delete key to delete those entries. Answer yes if a
confirmation box appears asking you if you are sure.
 11. Press shift key with tab to move back to the tree view and use down
arrow to move to the next choice. If there is a choice for run once or
run X then use tab to move from those choices into the list and delete
any
entries for T-Timer or Spybot. Use shift with tab to move from the list
view to the tree view and continue using down arrow to see if there are
any
more run choices. Items are listed alphabetically in the tree view so
if
you come to an entry that starts with S or another entry starting with R
that is not a run entry, then start using left arrow in the tree view
until you get back to the point where the My computer choice is open.
 12. When back to the my computer choice use the down arrow key to move
to
 the following hive:
 HKEY_local_machine.
 13. Expand the hive by using the right arrow key and press S until you
hear
the choice for software. Use right arrow to expand the level.
 14. Use the letter M until you hear the choice for Microsoft and then use
right arrow to expand the level.
 15. Press W until you hear Windows and use right arrow to expand the
level.
 16. Use C until you hear the choice for current version and use right
 arrow to expand the level.
 17. Press R until you hear the choice for run and then use tab key to
 move into the list view.
 18. Use up and down arrow keys to move to any choices for Spybot or
T-Timer
and delete the entries. Answer that you are sure if a confirmation box
 appears.
 19. Use shift with tab to move back to the tree view and use down arrow
key
to move to any choices for run, such as run once or run x. Use tab key to
move into the list for any run choices and use up and down arrow to find
choices for Spybot or for T-Timer and delete them. Again, answer yes to
any
confirmation boxes that ask you if you are sure. The choices in the tree
view are alphabetical so if you come to a choice that begins with the
letter
S or another letter later in the alphabet than R, or if you come to a
choice
that starts with R but it is not a run related choice then you can start
collapsing the tree back to where it says My Computer. Do
