[JAWS-Users] One Drive Instructions And Tutorial Link Needed

2017-12-07 Thread Tom Behler
Hello, everyone.

I recently experienced an external hard drive failure, and, although I have
been able to salvage most of my files from the internal hard drive on my
computer, I am missing a file I put together of instalation and setup
instructions for One Drive.

The file contained some instructions I compiled from various list members,
as well as a link to a very helpful tutorial.

If someone can send me some basic one drive instructions, plus the
recently-posted link to the One Drive tutorial, that would be appreciated.

If it helps, I'm using Jaws 2018, Windows 7, and Office 365 here.

Since I now have office 365 home, with a terabyte of one drive storage, I
think it would be wise to take advantage of this cloud storage option.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

Thanks so much, Jim.

These instructions are very helpful.

I do have one or two more questions, though, and will ask you those
questions in a separate off list e-mail.

Thanks again!

Hi Tom, these instructions should work the same way for W-7.
How to set up and use the OneDrive back up for yourself and how to share a
folder with others.
*for windows 10, Open your personal folder link under the start area if you
have it set up that way, go down to OneDrive, press enter.
*do this in Windows 7: Or, type OneDrive into the search edit box, press
enter on OneDrive desktop app.
Or, if OneDrive is on your Taskbar, press enter on it there, or press its
shortcut keystroke windows key+the number of its order on the Taskbar.
*do this in windows 10, Or, press the windows key, up or down arrow to, All
apps, press enter.
Press the letter O, down arrow to one drive, press the enter key, press
enter on OneDrive.
Now you will be in a list of default OneDrive folders, that you can use, or
you can create your own folders in OneDrive.
In this example, I will create my own folder under the main default folder
list of OneDrive.
While you are in the list of default folders under the main OneDrive folder
list.
1. Press Control+shift+N, for new folder.
2. In this example, I will type the name, "Jaws users", then press enter to
create this new folder.
3. Copy the files or folders you wish to back-up, and paste them into this
new Jaws Users folder.
Do the same thing if you wish to share this folder with others by a OneDrive
link , copy and paste any files into this new folder to share them with
others.
Now we need to sink our OneDrive folders if you wish too, you do not have to
sink your OneDrive folders if you do not want too.
4. Highlight the new folder, in my case, Jaws users, do not press enter.
5. Press the applications key, down arrow to, Choose OneDrive folders to
sink, press enter.
6. Now, you can choose a check-box to sink all folders.
Or, uncheck this, tab to the list view of folders, only check the folders
you wish to sink to your computer by pressing the Spacebar on each folder.
After checking all the folders you wish to sink, tab to OK, press enter.
Now, How to share this new OneDrive folder and its contents, with others
through a OneDrive link.
7. Now, highlight your new folder, in my case, Jaws users, do not press
enter.
8. Press the Applications key, go down to, Share a OneDrive link, press
enter.
By pressing Enter, This automatically pastes, a OneDrive link to this
folder, that you can share with others, into the clipboard.
9. Now, open an email to the person you wish to give access to this OneDrive
folder and all its content, in my case the Jaws users list.
10. Paste the OneDrive link into the email, this will give that person a
link to access the folder you are sharing with them.
What does it mean to sink your OneDrive folders?
When you choose to sink your OneDrive folders on your computer.
You have a mirror copy of these files online, on your OneDrive page.
You also place a mirror copy of these files in your OneDrive folder on your
computer.
Now, the advantage of doing it this way is:
When you are inside the OneDrive folder and inside a text file in one of
your shared folders, for example.
Whatever changes you make to that text document on your computer, are
automatically changed in the text document stored in OneDrive on line.
Can I use the default folders of OneDrive, to place my audio or text files
into for back up, or for sharing with others?
Yes, you can use them the same way, as I explained above.
OneDrive is a cool and easy way, to share large audio or text files with
others.
Microsoft gives each person a free 5 GB's of storage space on OneDrive.
*Tip, when you sink folders, you are taking up room in your OneDrive folder,
what ever the size of the one drive folder on line is also taking up room on
your C: drive as a mirror copy.
I am currently sharing two OneDrive links to two different folders on my
OneDrive on my computer, with no issues.

Hi Tom,
Windows 7 doesn't include a OneDrive app, so you'll have to download and
install it. It had been included into the Windows Live Essentials suite, but
probably now may be available separately.
When installed, the first thing you'll be asked is to sign in, and you will be
using the JAWS Virtual Cursor. The next screens are normally accessible.
To quickly access OneDrive folder latter, double-click on the OneDrive system
tray icon; that icon will also you the synchronization status, that is, files
in your local copy of the folder structure compared to the folder structure
uploaded of the service. To access more settings than in the initial wizard,
open the context menu and choose Settings.
Although Office 2013 and 2016 include direct support for OneDrive even without
the app, for example for co-authoring, you can save files to the OneDrive
folder structure from any application. The files will save locally in the
normal way and the app will upload these files to the cloud in the background.

Feel free to ask more if needed!

Something was bothering me about one drive in windows 10 until a little
research solved my problem this morning. I like to move such animals from my

Windows 10 removed the little feature that made it so easy in 7, so I was under

There is an audio option but fortunately my wife was able to figure out the
 letters.

I just have no desire to fiddle with such things when there are so many more
things in life to worry about like is my ice cream supply stocked or not.

Apparrently, using windows 8.1 OneDrive comes preinstalled, so there is no
need to install it?
Is there a difference between the OneDrive ap on my win 8.1 comp vs what
folks are downloading? When I launched the OneDrive app, I was lost lol.
David said it is simple as copy and paste?

2015-06-20 Thread Sharon Gosling
I am planning to install 1drive but I had no trouble setting up Google Drive
and it is another free 15 gb and also works like Dropbox. I put my family
videos in there and was totally surprised that the avi format videos played
on my iPhone from the Google Drive app.
Now I want to set up 1Drive to put my photos and maybe some music to store.
I tried the iDrive last yearand got the bargain 100 gb but the interface is
impossible with Jaws. I can't get to the files online to delete them and
make room for the ones I want. I have also used Carbonite for a few years
but it was also hard to access online and even for the medium level it would
not automatically back up my home videos. I had to mark each one separately
and then at some point their server had a blip and all the videos
disappeared again. And the videos of my kids are the most important thing
on my computer!!

For those who can make it work great.

Now, for me have a problem because I had to try so many times to get a

problem again! No sense in having the account now. I get e-mail saying I
have not used the account, darned right, can't get in due to all their

PayPal is not an option again due to their own fault. I understand they

Well, installing it has not worked for me as it did not install, the
instructions I read did not work, and, you have to be invited to use the
add-on. More hassle. It may work great once installed/configured, but
 for
my part, although I have followed trying to go to add-ons and install it,
 it
does not find it or install it, thus can't get an invite either which if I
had one could not get the bit of programming to work. I am not a neophyte
at computers and such but this is the only reason I installed Firefox, and
it does not work, I don't care for the way Firefox hides bookmarks it does
interact with one or two sites better than I.E. but not much.

For those who can make it work great.

Now, for me have a problem because I had to try so many times to get a
password PayPal would accept that I now forgot it, so now have the CAPTCH
problem again! No sense in having the account now. I get e-mail saying I
have not used the account, darned right, can't get in due to all their
 rules
on how a password must be created and had help doing mine, neither of us
 can
remember what we eventually did, and no e-mail to tell us. Security is
 one
thing but this is totally beyond. There was an Audible CAPTCHA but I
 could
not hear it well enough to understand any of it and it would not replay.

PayPal is not an option again due to their own fault. I understand they
don't want you to understand the audio, but if I can't understand it I
 can't
reproduce it. It is all over the top for most of us.

 Hi all.
I just want you all to know that there is a great add-on for Firefox
called webvism. Once you install the add-on, it will solve any of
those capshas and put the result on the clip board for you to paste in
the box. It has worked for me every time and has lessened my need for

it opens it in one of the Office web applications, and these are totally

I installed the desktop application and so far it looks quite simple to
manage.

It looks like you just paste something in there either a file or an entire
folder / directory of files and they automatically upload to the cloud.
Granted the directory only had 2 files in it but I figure that is enough for
a first test.

So far no issues with accessibility at all I am pleased to report.

Hi,
When I installed Office 2013 about a year an a half.
I believe theere Was an option to download MS 1.
I had to create a new username @outlook.com and a password to enter the MS 1
cloud.
I didn't had to fiddle with anything to join at the time.

If, I remember, it gave me 7 gigs of storage.

Besides having your personal space,
You can create links and store stuff to share with your friends to enter
your cloud, better than dropbox and more secure.

I honestly have not mess with it much, because of time and learning things

Re: [JAWS-Users] one drive

I've got the business version and it's accessible enough for me. More or
less the same as all the other DropBox/GoogleDrive alternatives out there.
The folder shows up in the Windows explorer structure and the few times I've
used it online, I've been able to get done what I've needed to do. I use it
more on iOS, but even then, it's fine with Voiceover.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] one drive

I just signed up for the service this evening and downloaded the application
although it is too late to do any installing. My question is how usable is
this thing?

Note there is one of those graphic things with stuff for you to type in the
box before the sign up process will complete. Annoying but not impossible.
There is an audio option but fortunately my wife was able to figure out the
letters.

I just have no desire to fiddle with such things when there are so many more
things in life to worry about like is my ice cream supply stocked or not.

a simpler system that worked perfectly.
