[JAWS-Users] Thanks from a new member

2018-05-12 Thread Marie
I posted my Word problem about the cursor navigation skipping pages to another
list and got no answers. Mike B posted it to this list and I got a solution
right away which solved my problem.
He also sent the info to join this list so here I am and hope I can help
someone else in the future.
So a big thanks to Mike and the list.

Ted,
In my Outlook 2016 when I have the email received open I SHIFT + TAB about 4
times until it gets up to sent from and it is at the right end of the
address. Then I highlight & copy into a text file where I separate the
individual's email address.

Dear List:

Thanks to those replying to my queries. How do I reply to someone on the
list without it going to the entire list? I cannot figure how to read the
sender's email address character by character so I can replace the group
address with the single person's address. I tried an alt-enter to get to
properties, but it must have been the wrong properties because it only had
the general tab in it. Would you please tell me the keystrokes involved and
where each step should take me to get to those address headers. Thanks.

Hi group, I want to thank David Bailes, for reminding me about using first
letter navigation in the taskbar of W-10 with Jaws, in his taskbar 10 guide.
After pressing Windows key+T, just press the first letter of any pinned item to
the taskbar to quickly jump to that item on the taskbar, and just press enter
to open that taskbar item. I appreciate the time it took you David to write
this guide. Thanks for reminding me about using first letter navigation with

Ted, it's gracious of you to post this note, but honestly, the result is
unacceptable. I'd urge you to call FS/VFO again and demand that your case be
escalated. It's worth saying that the quality of tech assistance varies widely
among the FS reps. Some are superb, some not. I can't imagine that the person

[JAWS-Users] thanks for image for windows

2016-09-29 Thread Lenny McHugh
Well those guys calling from windows really trashed my computer. After they
breached my firewalls they not only put some viruses on the machine but they
also created a bogus hardware usb device for which there is no drivers. And
worst they trashed the system restore points. They looked ok until you tried
to use one. After about 5 minutes it failed and there was no way to restart
the computer. I had a image backup from the day after the problem when I
cleaned the viruses. That is when the driver issue popped up. I just went in
and removed the no name driver and everything is now working ok.
I want to look for an either net switch. That way I can use the machine and
have all access to the internet removed. I also want to contact Comcast to
see if the fire wall in the router is active and set up properly. They got
through it first and on the 4th attempt got through my vipre fire wall.

my important e-mail's into the various folders. I had so many e-mails in my
in and deleted boxes that I wanted to keep. I can now say that I am finally
organized with my e-mails after so many years thanks to all of you and the
JAWS group.

I guess, you can still teach an old dog new tricks! I go back to the days
of WordPerfect, DOS and Artic Vision and VERT for screen readers.

Again, many thanks.

Al

It'll be free from 7 as well, Carolyn. I haven't done an OS upgrade since DOS
7, but this one may tempt me. Only trouble is I could do a DOS update with no
help; I'll bet the farm it won't be that way with Windows 10.

I am so glad that we will be able to use this pc in files explorer

not totally getting rid of the layout that I love in 8.1! I love that

Not all stations' URL's simply work in a way that is accessible. The
purpose of a program such as Tapin Radio is to provide the URL's of
stations, both known and unknown, all in the 'one place'. It's the

Keep in mind that you often don't actually see the speeds that are
advertised, or that are indicated by the speed tests because one factor
is the site that you are downloading from. This may have to do with the
capacity of the site, or some arbitrary speed cap set by the site owner.

[JAWS-Users] Thanks to Chris H- Total Recorder is awesome

2010-08-05 Thread Dujari, Prateek
First, thanks much to Chris H who turned me on to www.totalrecorder.com on this
list. I have been recently checking out diff programs to record audio off
streaming audio or audio/video content and this product is superior at many
levels. I've been playing with the trial ver this morning and delighted due to
the following reasons which I have not found in any other such recorder I've
explored.
1. totally accessible with Jaws with hot keys built into the software.
2. Lossless recording quality. So I am a huge obsessive audio phile and any
app that degrades sound quality even one bit form the original is a deal
breaker for me. I gotta say with the 'software' mode, and recording output set
to 192kBPS stereo Mp3 I couldn't find any diff between the original and the
recording. I tried this with some mp3 songs already on my PC to really be able
to tell any diff and found no difff in the recording. Also distortion at high
pitch/volume parts of this grunge song had zero distortion.
3.

Part of my recent research to record streaming content also was to use my GW
Micro's BookSense's line-in to record on the BS off my PC. I gotta say that too
dipped the recording quality noticeably and tended to add distortion especially
at the high pitch/volume portions of the original. Besides that way is so much
more cumbersome as u gotta have your PC, the BS and the 3.5mm-3.5mm cord.
I am buying the Std Edition and recommend it to anyone remotely interested in
recording off other devices or the internet.

Hi all,
I'm glad you're enjoying the software. Yes, I should have told High
Criteria that it's accessible because of the keyboard shortcuts built
into the program.
Now, to each their own, but I think their editing capabilities, despite
it being basic, is quite good. But I will still use GoldWave for more
advanced editing, including adding effects.
So, for JAWS users, you should have at least GoldWave as one audio
program at your disposal.

Hope this helps.

Hi all,
In the Total Recorder user interface, there are some sliders. Have a
play about with those, accessible with the tab key, and see what you can
come up with. As for the message about the unregistered version, this is
normal and is reminding you what you will experience in the unregistered
version. After all they don't want you to get away with using it for
free without the noise, but at the same time they like to warn you in
case you or anyone else hears a very loud random sound when playing back
the recording. So what they do is remind you each time you start the
program. Now, once you have registered this message will not pop up
again because, well, there will be no random sounds in any of your
recordings.

Hope this helps.

2010-08-05 Thread chris hallsworth

Hi all,
I was wrong. Sorry about that. Using JAWS:
1. Press alt+o, r to open the options, recording source and parameters
dialogue box. JAWS does not read the menu bar properly for some reason,
yet it reads the actual menus fine once you've gone past the top item.
So this is why I'm giving you these hot keys. Anyway...
2. Tab to the advanced...button after the recording source group of
radio buttons. Make sure software or mixed (soundboard and software) is
selected first.
3. Tab to the recording level edit spin box and set it to 200, for
example. This basically means adjust the recording level to twice the
volume of the original recording in this case.

4. Press enter or tab to and activate the ok button.
5. Tab to and activate the ok button again.
Future recordings will now sound louder.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Thanks to Chris H- Total Recorder is

awesome

Hi all,
I'm glad you're enjoying the software. Yes, I should have told

High

Criteria that it's accessible because of the keyboard shortcuts

built

into the program.
Now, to each their own, but I think their editing capabilities,

despite

it being basic, is quite good. But I will still use GoldWave

for

more

advanced editing, including adding effects.
So, for JAWS users, you should have at least GoldWave as one

audio

program at your disposal.
Hope this helps.

1. totally accessible with Jaws with hot keys built into the

2. Lossless recording quality. So I am a huge obsessive audio

the

'software' mode,

any diff

mp3 songs

already on my PC to really be able to tell any diff and found no

difff

this

grunge song had zero distortion.

3.

Part of my recent research to record streaming content also was

to use my GW Micro's BookSense's line-in to record on the BS off

my PC.

I gotta say that too dipped the recording quality noticeably and

tended

to add distortion especially at the high pitch/volume portions

of the

original. Besides that way is so much more cumbersome as u

gotta have

your PC, the BS and the 3.5mm-3.5mm cord.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] problem with my book external hard drive

Hi Jo,

It sounds as if you are in the drive.

System Volume Information is a hidden file that you don't see unless you
have show hidden files enabled in your folder options.

It is also the information that houses the computer's system recovery
information should you ever have to perform a system restore, found in the
start, programs, accessories, system tools, and finally, system restore.

Should you ever get to a point where you need to restore your computer and
it's setting to an earlier time before a problem happened, you would
perform
a system restore, which would then retrieve the information from the
system

volume information file to replace what is currently there.

This would not show up unless you were physically in the drive to begin
with.

If you'd like, When you see this file, press your backspace key, and I
think
you'll find that you have landed in the My Computer window of your
computer,

and that the drive is there.

Especially if this window comes up right after the format, which is what
will sometimes happen after a format.

Either way, your computer would not let you access this information, ever,
unless you were in safe mode, and even then, you would have a hard time
accessing it.

Another file of this type is a file/folder you can sometimes find on your
external drives with the name of Recycler. This folder will not actually
appear unless you delete something from this drive, at which point, it is
the folder that houses your recycle bin contents, at which point, you can
retrieve it from this folder instead of the recycle bin.

This folder, like System Volume Information doesn't appear unless you have
your folder options to display hidden files and folders.

If you want some other information on this, feel free to contact me off
list

at:

victor.gouv...@rogers.com

Or, if you'd like, you can add me to your Skype contact list, if you have
Skype, with my Skype name of scorpio110570, and we can see what's going on
then.
