Michelle, try this. Go to control panel. Then, hit the letter T till you hear trouble shooting link. Then, hit the letter P till you hear programs link. Then, arrow down through several things, till you hear windows media player settings. Hit enter there, and tab over to advanced link. Then, you will hear something fix button, and it should correct the problem. Most of the time it does. Whenever I try to use it, my laptop starts to whirl as though Media Player is taking up all the memory or all the processor's energy. Often, it takes over a minute for a track to start playing or for the program to open. It often comes up with the message: Windows Media Player is not responding as well. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows media player
Hi Steven, I assume you mean windows media player 12 on windows 7. In windows media player, if you open the context menu of a track, then open the add to sub menu, then a number of play lists are shown on this sub menu. Unfortunately, only the last eight of so playlists which have been created are shown. However, the last item on the menu is additional playlists, and if you open this, you can select any playlist in dialog. As an alternative, you can: 1. select the playlist, and choose play from its context menu. The items in the playlist are then placed in the currently playing list (which is on the right side of the screen). 2. You can add tracks to this now playing list by opening the context menu, open the add to sub menu, and choosing playlist. The shortcut for this is ctrl+7. 3. When you've finished adding tracks, tab to the save list button, and press it. Alternately, press alt+s. David. original message: Using wmp 11 and windows 7. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows media player problems
If your ripping options are set to verify album and track names on the internet and your speed is too slow, that may perhaps be the reason for the cd to be ejected, although I've successfully ripped cd's at less than 8 kbps via a dialup modem. The fact that it's set to rip in mp3 shouldn't make the difference. Also, if the same cd has been ripped before on the same computer with the same program, it will also eject immediately without saying anything. You could change that setting not to look for titles on the internet, I think in the options menu, but I don't presently have access to win media player to check. Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player verses winamp535
Alan and all, I'm not in any way encouraging you to use Winamp, however since version 5.551 I can confirm that problems that occurred in previous versions, particularly if you use Vista, has been eliminated. The only problems we still have is the fact we can only use Winamp's classic skin, and the fact that some versions of JAWS causes Winamp to crash when trying to focus on the list of tracks in the Winamp library. It would, however, appear that the latest JAWS 10, JAWS 10.0.1139, this problem has been all of a sudden resolved. Personally, I only use the library to rip CD's and just use Winamp's main window and playlist editors otherwise. So, if you can, give Winamp another look, and just bear the problems we still have in mind. I hope this helps. -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopher...@googlemail.com MSN: ch9...@hotmail.com Skype: chrishallsworth7266 - Original Message - From: Alan Dicey adi...@bellsouth.net To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, March 23, 2009 7:48 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player verses winamp535 Hello Folks, I did not mean to start a thread on Winamp verses Window Media Player, but since it is started I will tell you my experiences on why I did not install Winamp! Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player verses winamp535
Hi Alan, Here is one quick way you might try to create a playlist using Windows Media Player 11: 1. Navigate to the folder where the music is that you want to add to the playlist. 2. Select the audio files that you want included in the play list. 3. When the songs that you want included are selected use the application key to bring up a context menu, and then use down arrow key to the add to Windows Media player list and press enter key. 4. When Windows media player starts playing use CTRL+P to pause it. 5. Press Alt+F in Windows Media player and use down arrow to the save now playing list as choice and press enter key. 6. Name your play list in the edit box. 7. use tab key to the files of type choice and you can use up and down arrow keys to make your selection. You probably will want the first choice, which is .wpl. 8. Check to see where the play list will be saved. I am not using XP but I think that using Alt+I will move you to the save in box or you can use tab key until you find it. If using Vista you can route JAWS to PC, do a page up, and then use down arrow one time to read the line that shows where your play list will be saved. If this wasn't clear or if you have trouble with it, you know my E-mail address. Feel free to contact me. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player 11
Hi: I haven't actually played a DVD with Media 11, but have played with CD.'s., but when you choose play, it should automatically come up with a dialogue box asking you what action you want to take, play, take no action, or automatically ad to your library. I might not have the wording right, I'll have to play with it more. Make sure that classic layout is chosen. Perhaps that's why you're not seeing those choices. Well, I feel really stupid because I can't duplicate what I did before. I saw it before, but can't bring it up now. You could always try Media 10 until you can get another program. It is more accessible. I can't seem to get anything to play directly from the CD. It just wants to ad it to my library. Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player 11
Carlene, Don't feel stupid, ... may I welcome you to the pleasures of version eleven? I had gotten it to work some time back with cds but found it a horrible experience and promptly down graded as far back as that version of Windows XP would allow. Unfortunately the one with the dvd player program in it is running off of Vista and it won't let me run a more accessible (civilized) older version. Best of luck, hope you get yours to co-operate with you. I would suggest to anyone wondering whether or not to try eleven that if you do not need to upgrade you Don't! Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player 11
Unfortunately that dialogue box is NOT what comes up.
