Ted,

yes, www.videolan.org has the latest VLC Player. In its latest incarnations it
isn't the most accessible program you ever clapped ears on, but it does produce
good sound (when you get it playing). Some portals are now using it to play
radio streams, for example, www.reciva.com , and that interface, though
perhaps a bit clunky, is accessible.

I'm glad to know WMP still works under Windows 8. I understand Ms has
discontinued the product. Anybody using the latest VLC yet? I'm anxious to get
my hands on a copy.

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have a list of the WMP; shortcut keys they might share?
I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit, with JAWS16 latest update.

I know that control P will pause/play a file.
Control S is a full stop.
I suspect there are others.

Thank you for any help.

Does anyone have a list of the WMP; shortcut keys they might share?
I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit, with JAWS16 latest update.

I know that control P will pause/play a file.
Control S is a full stop.
I suspect there are others.

Thank you for any help.

Hi all. I have having serious issues with Windows Media Player
on a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 and the latest JAWS update.
Unfortunately, I'm having trouble getting Media Player to work
long enough to find out what version it is. Whenever I try to
use it, my laptop starts to whirl as though Media Player is
taking up all the memory or all the processor's energy. Often,
it takes over a minute for a track to start playing or for the
program to open. It often comes up with the message: Windows
Media Player is not responding as well.

Were I to uninstall it from my laptop, how can I access it from
scratch? Which version is the most accessible?

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows media player

2013-07-30 Thread David Bailes
Hi Steven,
I  assume you mean windows media player 12 on windows 7.
In windows media player, if you open the context menu of a track, then open the
add to sub menu, then a number of play lists are shown on this sub menu.
Unfortunately, only the last eight of so playlists which have been created are
shown. However, the last item on the menu is additional playlists, and if you
open this, you can select any playlist in dialog.

As an alternative, you can:
1. select the playlist, and choose play from its context menu. The items in the
playlist are then placed in the currently playing list (which is on the right
side of the screen).
2. You can add tracks to this now playing list by opening the context menu,
open the add to sub menu, and choosing playlist. The shortcut for this is
ctrl+7.
3. When you've finished adding tracks, tab to the save list button, and press
it.
Alternately, press alt+s.

David.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player

2011-03-05 Thread Patti

Thanks Rick, but that didn't do it.
Still when I plug a thumb drive in the dialog box comes up.
I tried hard to uncheck the sync button, but it will not come unchecked.
Anymore suggestions?
Patti

Hi Patti,
While that dialogue box is open, just tab to the cancel button, and
spacebar it.
While the flash drive is still connected, try going to the properties of
the drive,

and then the auto-play tab, and go thru the options and
select, take no action, for the media types listed.

Hey Gang,
I'm running XP, IE7, windows media player 11.0.56, Jaws 10.
How can I turn off this dialog box, every time I stick in a thumb drive

pops up, and I don't want to sync it?
The sync button is checked, and I tried to uncheck it by pressing the
space

bar, but it didn't work. Any help will be appreciated.

I believe that you will need to go in to
windows media player and change your synchronization settings. I don't
have this particular trouble so I do not have the specific steps to do
what You want. However, I remember seeing something about automatically
sincing with removable media in one of the Windows Media

 I hope this helps.

Hi Patti,
If the automatic rip occurs when windows media player isn't already

this will be due to the cd drive's autoplay settings. If this is the

Hi Patti,
If the automatic rip occurs when windows media player isn't already open, then
this will be due to the cd drive's autoplay settings.  If this is the case,
then
for instructions on how to change these settings see the CD drive Autoplay

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows media player problems

2009-05-18 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
If your ripping options are set to verify album and track names on the
internet and your speed is too slow, that may perhaps be the reason for
the cd to be ejected, although I've successfully ripped cd's at less
than 8 kbps via a dialup modem.

The fact that it's set to rip in mp3 shouldn't make the difference.

Also, if the same cd has been ripped before on the same computer with
the same program, it will also eject immediately without saying
anything.

You could change that setting not to look for titles on the internet, I
think in the options menu, but I don't presently have access to win
media player to check.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player verses winamp535

2009-03-23 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Alan and all, I'm not in any way encouraging you to use Winamp, however
since version 5.551 I can confirm that problems that occurred in previous
versions, particularly if you use Vista, has been eliminated. The only
problems we still have is the fact we can only use Winamp's classic skin,
and the fact that some versions of JAWS causes Winamp to crash when trying
to focus on the list of tracks in the Winamp library. It would, however,
appear that the latest JAWS 10, JAWS 10.0.1139, this problem has been all of
a sudden resolved. Personally, I only use the library to rip CD's and just
use Winamp's main window and playlist editors otherwise. So, if you can,
give Winamp another look, and just bear the problems we still have in mind.
I hope this helps.

stating this version was not very JAWS friendly, in fact it was full of

something like that.

Well, they just scared me off, and I just decided to not install either, the
new version, or the old version, but stick with Microsoft's product, the

That's it!

2009-03-23 Thread Brian Lee

Hi Alan,

Here is one quick way you might try to create a playlist using Windows Media
Player 11:

1. Navigate to the folder where the music is that you want to add to the
playlist.

2. Select the audio files that you want included in the play list.
3. When the songs that you want included are selected use the application
key to bring up a context menu, and then use down arrow key to the add to
Windows Media player list and press enter key.

4. When Windows media player starts playing use CTRL+P to pause it.
5. Press Alt+F in Windows Media player and use down arrow to the save now
playing list as choice and press enter key.

6. Name your play list in the edit box.
7. use tab key to the files of type choice and you can use up and down
arrow keys to make your selection. You probably will want the first choice,
which is .wpl.
8. Check to see where the play list will be saved. I am not using XP but I
think that using Alt+I will move you to the save in box or you can use tab
key until you find it. If using Vista you can route JAWS to PC, do a page
up, and then use down arrow one time to read the line that shows where your
play list will be saved.

If this wasn't clear or if you have trouble with it, you know my E-mail
address. Feel free to contact me.

Take care.

I have windows mediaplayer 11, realplayer 11, winamp 5.543 (or something
like that) and, and Inntervideo winDvd running on my Xp Pro Pc. However,
neither one of these programs appear to aford easy access to play a dvd

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player

2008-12-10 Thread Roger Levine

Hi,
Make sure to properly close-up WMP before exiting and before opening any MP3
file to play outside of the WMP program. I have had this problem at times.
This might be a shot in the dark, but hopefully it will work.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player

Hi.
well tried again, set the rip music tab in options.
put the cd back in and ripped my music.
now editing my artist, album and track titles.
not sure why it did not do it the first time.
sorry about that.
well, got it working ownow.
but still got a strange thing, if i open the mp3 from windows explorer, if
i
close alt f 4 the audio track does not stop playing, and the only way, is
to

go into windows media player and go to play, and click on stop.
then the audio track stops.
real weird.
tried looking in the options in windows media player, and also, went to
the

mp3 properties, and set the associated program to windows media player.
real strange.
can any one throw some light on this one?
cheers Marvin.
ps: thanks for all your help on this issue.
looks like i resolved the issue.

Are there any tutorials for Windows Media Player Versions 9 or 11? For
the time being however, I need to clear the contents of the library and
also adjust WMP to mini mode.

When I have the same problem, I tend to play the song or movie manually by
using another program. After I do that, the box pops up again. Make sure
when it does, and you select whichever program you want, uncheck make player
the default player. Hope this help.

I agree that it is a frustrating program. What I have done is to go to
My computer and access the video disk drive directly. It takes a little
hunting but by clicking on different files you can usually find one that
will play the movie. If any one finds a video player that is easily
accessible I am interested.

I am trying to play a dvd using this program. Is there anyway for Jaws to
navigate its controls!?! I did manage to press the play dvd button but
after that I only get blank I can't bring up a menu or even close the
window using either cursor. I am very frustrated. I can get another
program installed but that won't be for a few days and I had wanted access
to this dvd ASAP, so any suggestions would be most welcome!

2007-10-10 Thread carlene knight
Hi:

I haven't actually played a DVD with Media 11, but have played with
CD.'s., but when you choose play, it should automatically come up with
a dialogue box asking you what action you want to take, play, take no
action, or automatically ad to your library. I might not have the
wording right, I'll have to play with it more. Make sure that classic
layout is chosen. Perhaps that's why you're not seeing those choices.

action, or automatically ad to your library. I might not have the
wording right, I'll have to play with it more. Make sure that classic
layout is chosen. Perhaps that's why you're not seeing those choices.

 Hi
I agree that it is a frustrating program. What I have done is to go to
My computer and access the video disk drive directly. It takes a little
hunting but by clicking on different files you can usually find one that
will play the movie. If any one finds a video player that is easily
 accessible I am interested.

 God bless,

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Player 11

I am trying to play a dvd using this program. Is there anyway for Jaws to
navigate its controls!?! I did manage to press the play dvd button but
after that I only get blank I can't bring up a menu or even close the
window using either cursor. I am very frustrated. I can get another
program installed but that won't be for a few days and I had wanted access
to this dvd ASAP, so any suggestions would be most welcome!

 Thank you,
 Joy

2007-10-10 Thread carlene knight
Well, I feel really stupid because I can't duplicate what I did before.
I saw it before, but can't bring it up now. You could always try Media
10 until you can get another program. It is more accessible. I can't
seem to get anything to play directly from the CD. It just wants to ad
it to my library.

Unfortunately that dialogue box is NOT what comes up.

 Hi:

I haven't actually played a DVD with Media 11, but have played with
CD.'s., but when you choose play, it should automatically come up with
