[JAWS-Users] jaws tandom
Hi, What are folks experiences with tandom? Everything peachy keen, or do you experience what I experience during a session where jaws would stop talking and one must wait a few until jaws starts talking again? Also, when it stops talking, it seems as if everything else stops as well, because moving around with alt-tab, does not work, neither. Thoughts? Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws tandem
I've done a lot of tandem sessions myself. Most of them good but also I've experienced pretty much every possible glitch there is to encounter. All in all though it is still the best feature to come across my desk since the invention of the talking calculator, or for that matter scream readers. The thing is it made the possible faster since I don't have to walk folks step by step to accomplish something. It also made the impossible possible because some things I won't walk people step by step as they are far too touchy. The down side is that it gave me more work to do and less free time. Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws tandem
Greetings, My experience with Tandem has been very good. Has the issue you encountered been when you gain access to another PC, when you allow access to your PC, or regardless of who initiates the tandem session? When the lag occurs, do you know what type of connection the two PC's have? I'm wondering if it could be due to slow internet connectivity on one or both machines, or a lack of sufficient system resources. Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws tandem
I totally agree with you that this is almost best thing ever to happen. I hope FS never removes this from Jaws updates. I say for the most part the connection is pretty good, occasionally it's dropped, but it's rare. The first time I tandemed with someone, they had the control, it was laughable my computer was talking on it's on and going all over the place, I had to sit on my hands not to touch the keyboard. Now, it's not a problem, FS has made the process so easy to get to and to utilize. The best part is, someone needing to look at your system, and you might not be able to explain the problems, they can look around on their end even if their miles away and locate the issues going on. - Original Message - From: "David Ferrin" To: Sent: Sunday, March 09, 2014 8:59 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws tandem I've done a lot of tandem sessions myself. Re: [JAWS-Users] multiple printers and "one note"
I just tried this on my Win 7 laptop with Jaws 15. Go to Start menu Type Devices Choose View Devices and printers Use right arrow to arrow through printer choices When you reach the one you want use Alt F to open file menu Set as default is the third choice, it will say checked if it is already the default Press enter About one note. It did not show up in my printer list but it shows up all the time in other context menus and occasionally I accidentally click on it.. I would like to remove it completely from all menus if not from the computer itself. When I want to make a note I open Wordpad or Notepad with shortcut keys and type or copy my info. One note is just an extra pain. hello the only time I've had issues with the jaws tandem is? when I've connected to client's computer, and they've forgot to turn off the ocr, especially kurzweil. it never fails, when I connect to a computer, with kurzweil opened, jaws will freeze within 15 minutes or so. normally what happens is, I'm able to hear jaws, however, client cannot. client's computer seems to freeze, eventually, I need to disconnect, and get client to somehow reboot. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Fanus Sent: Sunday, March 9, 2014 10:59 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws tandem Hello David When jaws tandem was introduced I recall that the idea was that it would be free for a while and thereafter FS would charge a fee. It is still free as of a couple of weeks ago which was the last time I used the service. It looks like it is going to stay that way, at least I hope so. Re: [JAWS-Users] New I tunes question
I hope you don't mind my butting in, here. As indicated in other messages, yes, you most definitely will need all of those files in order to have I Tunes work properly. FYI, I Tunes usually brings files into the system using a format called M4 A. That is not MP3. Some systems will not recognize it. The only way I know to bring those into the MP3 format is with some kind of converting software. For example, if you have Gold Wave on your system, you could record the song, then save it as an MP3. I believe that there are other easier software packages as well but you need to make sure that whatever you use does recognize and can work with M4 A. I'll bet someone on this list can come up with several options. My only reason for poking my nose in is that I just had the same issue myself. [JAWS-Users] thunderbird issue
I just upgraded to Win7, JAWS15 and am having trouble reading the subject, sender etc. displayed in the in box list view. I can see the the highlighted area going from e-mail to email as I move the arrow keys up and down. The only way I can get the list to work for me is to move to the absolute top or bottom and then can read/delete. I can open any of them..the issue I face is just JAWS saying the emails in the list. I use the PC Cursor mostly; when I switch to the JAWS cursor the list does indeed read but I can't put the cursor on the one I want to open. I'm running the latest JAWS update v 15.0.7023 and Thunderbird 24.0.3, updated today. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

[JAWS-Users] Compatibility of JAWS and Power Teacher
Hello, I am writing on behalf of a friend who is a teacher. He presently has to use his para pro to insert grades into the Power Teacher application that his system is required to use. Does anyone know if he can do it independently? He is currently using JAWS 15, and is a fluent JAWS user. Does anyone know of any scripts for this application, or for GO IEP? Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] Big problem with Face book
I have a major problem with Face book, in my profile, apparently somehow it has parsed places etc from some of my friends, so I don't actually live where it says I do, I don't work for a University in South Dakotas, I did not go to high school in Mesa, Arizona. I have tried to fix it but everything I think or hear I am an edit field Jaws starts telling me I am not. Trying to get my husband to fix the mess but, he will do it when he gets ready which may be months from now. I cannot believe the mess it is now and apparently has been from the start last August! I don't have all day to mess around trying to make all the corrections. I guess this way I am definitely anonymous. [JAWS-Users] External Drives & Windows Explorer
Hi All, Running XP Pro, IE8, Outlook Express, & J13 thru 15. I have my external drives to open folders to view files using Windows Explorer but, they're not doing so. I used to get a cancel button in Windows Explorer once the drive was opened but, this isn't happening anymore. The only way I know if the drive is accessible is by going to My Computer to see if the drive is showing in the list. Can someone tell me what to do so I can get my external drives to open in Windows Explorer again? Is there a service that might have been turned off by chance? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care. Mike This email was sent from my, iBarstool. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
