[kdenlive] [Bug 408556] In the timeline, video thumbnails are not visible by using the highest zoom level

2019-06-11 Thread Sebastian Kuhne
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408556

Thanks again for your help. I didn't know the menu you described yet - it is
probably new in 19.XX. It seems to work anyway, even if I have to say that the
computer performance requirements have obviously increased. This leads to
crashes and the computer stops responding, at least on my computer, and this
did not happen before in 18.XX.

Then, I found another inconsistency. If I switch on all thumbnails frames
(Right click on the track header -> track thumbnails -> all frames) and then
perform a cut somewhere in the middle of the video by using the Razor tool,
then the thumbnails to the right of the cut are again not displayed. This is a
little strange, and I don't know if this makes sense.

Otherwise I would say, we can close this thread here since the actual issue has
been solved. What is your opinion?

It would be really useful to use text to search through the layer names. It
becomes pretty difficult to find the right layer when you are dealing with 20+
layers. It would be helpful if the text on the layers were a little big bigger
and brighter too.

SUMMARY
The user thinking Krita has just opened to the landing page can click on the
'recent documents' leading Krita opening multiple documents.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

SUMMARY

The "create group" option is missing from the hamburger menu.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import a video clip and place on timeline
2. Add effect(s) to clip

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In addition to the missing Create Group, the right click menu in Custom effects
just has "Add to favorite", it does not have "Add effect to selected clip" or
"Delete effect".

I suspect these oversights are related in context to the refactoring of the
effects pane.

demonstration of blur color saturation on affected system

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make some blurred + transparent region visible

OBSERVED RESULT
region behind blurred + transparent region is significantly more saturated than
the actual region, making dark areas look almost black and ligher areas
completely white. This is compounded when blurred regions are stacked.

EXPECTED RESULT
saturation appears similar to background region on average

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is on a machine with an i7 7700HQ with integrated intel graphics, it is
not reproduceable with identical binaries on a machine with a Nehalem era Xeon
and Polaris AMD graphics (amdgpu driver)

This occurs on fresh kde configs with a new user, as well as with older

generate sidecar xmp files. Thus DK is correct, sorry for the confusion.

The corrupt png

I have a large amount of photos library, about 16K or so,
At first, importing all the folder seems fine,
Then to make the thumbnail load faster I did the tool-> maintenance -> rebuild
thumbnail ("with scan for changed" checked).
It somehow keep crash after certain amount of percentage,

Long story short, I import each folder manually, then I found 1 png file than
cause DigiKam to crash whenever I add that file to the collection/folder,

The png file seems fine and can be opened by windows 10 default photo library,
BUT when I open it on Photoshop it show "IDAT:incorrect data check". I assume
that the png image is corrupt,

I attached the png file,

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add the attached png file to album/folder
2. Run maintenance -> Rebuild thumbnail (Checked "scan for change")

OBSERVED RESULT
This file always crashed DigiKam

2019-06-11 Thread Boudhayan Gupta

There's code in Spectacle that does this, but this is just for consistency with
KWin's way of doing this. If someone removed this from KWin, I'll gladly remove
the offending code from Spectacle. I personally think the drop shadow is
completely unnecessary anyway.

Given how easy platform backends for Spectacle are to code, I'd like to take a
vote and either close this as something we won't do, or actually implement the
backend.

I do however agree with d_ed, even if we end up implementing a backend, who's
going to test it regularly and make sure it works? GNOME's API isn't something
we control, and this is something they're free to change from underneath us...
and completely break everything.

Slow QMessageBox in Kwrite

SUMMARY
QMessageBox is slow for the first pop-up. For example, the message box asking
for confirmation to empty trash, the message box asking to close KWrite when
there are unsaved changes. Note that if I cancel and try to trigger the message
box again shortly, it's not slow the second time.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
For KWrite:
1. Freshly Launch KWrite
2. Type something in.
3. Close KWrite. The popup message box is slow.

For Trash:
1. Restart computer with something in Trash.
2. Try to Empty Trash. Confirmatory message box is slow.

OBSERVED RESULT
My computer seems to stop responding for a while during the launch of
QMessageBox (for example, sound pauses). Screenshot Attached.

EXPECTED RESULT
QMessageBox launches at normal speed.

Damian, your use case is valid, but the approach suggested won't entirely work.

In X11, we compose the mouse pointer over the image in most cases (except when
we invoke KWin to grab an image for us), so we can un-compose the image.
However, in Wayland (and that 10% of the time when we invoke KWin under X11),
we'll need to take multiple screenshots. Invoking the screenshot API is
computationally cheap, but not free, and there will be subtle differences
between the two images. Also, multiple images at common but big sizes (think
multiple 4K displays) will eat up an incredible amount of memory, all for the
difference of a few pixels of difference. Storing image deltas is another idea,
but again, a lot of work for very little gain.

Also, this just will never work with the rectangular image cropper on any
platform. Given how much refactoring will have to be done and how ugly the
result will be (from a code complexity and performance point of view), I really
wouldn't want to spend much effort implementing this.

Thanks, klipper plasmoid should fix the issue.

@Boudhayan the problem is that I find `spectacle -r` more handy than qdbus
notification. kcmshell-keys doesn't provide a way to set ANY command to ANY
keyboard action, instead you can only commands from Exec sections in .desktop
files.

So I've spent around thirty minutes to get behaviour which I'm used to after
upgrade to newer plasma on my laptop instead. Now I'm happy and know better the
internals of KDE.

I want to point out this bug DOES NOT appear when using OpenGL as the display
renderer for me (windows 10), but DOES appear when using Direct3D, at least for
me. Not sure about the others.

I have to use the Direct3D because OpenGL gives me a slight 1second lag with
new brush strokes otherwise (even after 4.2.1).

I just thought this would be interesting to note.

Running `spectacle -r` does what you want (open the window after doing the
rectangular crop), even with the quit after save or copy option enabled. Please
make sure you've edited your `kcmshell keys` settings correctly. Also, making a
change to the .desktop file is unnecessary, and the only thing it does is
launch rectagular mode even if you start it from the kickoff menu.

The problem that the expected way leads to problem of copy paste. I need to
copy screenshot to clipboard and DO NOT need to save it anywhere. In case of
qdbus the screenshot is saved and copy option has no effect since X server
clears buffer after process holding it's content terminates. So I can't copy it
and it is saved To Pictures folder :(

Thanks for your answer. Sorry about the file, it seems like I linked some
intermediate test file used to isolate the issue instead ; redid a clean
archive with a better example. It will ask for locating
external_picture_to_import.exr, which is also in the archive...

Using alternative color spaces sure changed the way the picture is displayed,
but there was still a difference between the two layers. Checkbox is "Using
monitor profile", it didn't had any influence on solving the issue either.

It doesn't seem to send a desktop-entry in its notification. This is likely an
application bug.

Obviously, that changed the behaviour. Now, I can see the single thumbnails
which is great news. However, using that setting my computer crashed several

Please let me investigate that further - I will come back to you.

Kate showing its Input Modes menu entry, without a keyboard shortcut

I've noticed that the menu entries doesn't show their keyboard shortcuts if
they have submenu entries.

Attached is a screenshot of a menu entry in Kate that I've been looking at.

The code for this entry is found in «kateview.cpp», lines 694-698:

a = ac->addAction(QStringLiteral("switch_next_input_mode"));
a->setText(i18n("Switch to Next Input Mode"));
ac->setDefaultShortcut(a, QKeySequence(Qt::CTRL + Qt::SHIFT + Qt::Key_V));
a->setWhatsThis(i18n("Switch to the next input mode."));
connect(a, SIGNAL(triggered(bool)), SLOT(cycleInputMode()));

[krita] [Bug 408504] Krita 4.2.0 window does not tile to left or right side of screen

2019-06-11 Thread Chris Van Nooten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408504

--- Comment #4 from Chris Van Nooten ---
(In reply to Boudewijn Rempt from comment #3)
> Yes, maybe make a screen recording, because I just cannot reproduce this
> issue, and I also cannot understand how it could possibly have something to

Here is the google drive link to a video exposing the problem:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CKdow15qDB5QBW5zXT8KgKQ83V5W645K/view?usp=sharing

Ironically I found the problem just after uploading it, Krita 4.2.0 and beyond
takes up more than half the screen space on 1080P with the minimum width just
like the main Steam Window does, when you use the default Windows manager it
seems that you cannot tile windows that have a larger minimum width than half
the screen would be (so for me less than 960 pixels), 4.1.5 takes what seems to
be only 1/3th of the screen at the smallest width, thus I could tile it while
4.2.0 takes about 6/10th at the smallest width resulting in this behaviour.

My guess is that you have a 4K or a 1440P screen and that the minimum width is
a set pixel value as opposed to a percentage , at least that is my theory why
you couldn't replicate it.
Considering how inadequate my knowledge on CPP, QT5 and the Krita source code
is, I do not know which commit changed this value let alone where it is stored,
but I think it is a save bet that the problem lies here.

   Version: 19.04.1
  Platform: MS Windows

Screen capture of my project with the "loading clips" dialog and bug report
dialog box.

SUMMARY

The loading project dialog box hangs at "Loading clips". Although it shows an
animating progress bar, it never finishes loading the clips. (It's not a big
project, and I've been waiting about an hour.) However, all other parts of the
application appear to be working ok. The application does not seem to have
crashed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to file, Open Recent

Well... I've used a qdbus hack from Comment1 on newly-created EWS account, and
it looks like working fine even here, on 19.04.1.

Although, I still not sure, why the old one gets errors about XML verification

[Bluedevil] [Bug 408581] New: Bluetooth (audio) should not be shared in multi-user environment

2019-06-11 Thread Simone Gaiarin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408581

Bug ID: 408581
Summary: Bluetooth (audio) should not be shared in multi-user
environment
   Product: Bluedevil
   Version: 5.15.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: now...@gmail.com
  Reporter: simg...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When a bluetooth device is added to the 'bluetooth device' system settings
module, the device is added for all the users of the system.

This implies a security risk. Another user could for example access my phone
through bluetooth.

Moreover if two users are logged in at the same time and there is a bluetooth
audio device available, this device is shown as connected to both users, but
only one of them (at random) is able to output audio to it (could be the one
that is not currently active). Not only this, but the other user can listen to
the audio stream coming from the session of the other user.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in with user1
2. Pair a bluetooth audio device
3. Play music through the device
4. Switch session, and log in with user2

OBSERVED RESULT
User2 can see that the (audio) device has been paired and use it. Audio from
user1 is audible through the audio device.

EXPECTED RESULT
User2 has its own list of bluetooth devices and does not see those of other
users.

Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 19.04.2d to see if there
are any packaging issues https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/

If the problem/issue doesn't occur when using the AppImage, then it's your

Although, newly-created account gets 401 there too.
And also it doesn't savethe password to kwallet... (and neither even trying to

So for me `qdbus org.kde.Spectacle / RectangularRegion true` makes Spectacle
exit after taking a rectangular region screenshot, and shows a notification
instead of the main window.

`spectacle -r` makes Spectacle show its main window after taking a rectangular
region screenshot.

Both of these different modes work fine for me. If you want Spectacle to show
its main window after taking the rectangular resion screenshot, you can do
exactly as you have done. In other words, it sounds like this is behaving as
expected. :)

On the same computer I created a new user. I then changed the default location
of the maildir folder from /home/[user]/.local/share/local-mail to a folder
called /home/[user]/emails. Both locations are on the same partition. No
symbolic links are involved.

kmail (or akonadi) then creates a directory file:/home/[user]/emails/inbox

Even more oddly the ..inbox/ folder that contains the subdirectories new, cur
and tmp, if you look inside new you will find another subdirectory called file:

This path in full is shown here. This is created by either kmail or Akonadi.

[kate] [Bug 408539] [KTextEditor] highlighting crash applying invalid format

2019-06-11 Thread Christoph Cullmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408539

The assert is there that I/we get a nicer kind of failure in a debug build if
one ever breaks that invariant during development and to document the intend.

Why should I remove that?

If I remove it and break stuff during development, I will need to read a
backtrace and figure out the failure.

With the assert I get a verbose error message and have the knowledge that it is
not wanted to ever arrive with an invalid iterator here.

And for the release builds, it produces zero code, the user will not be
burdened with unneeded run-time checks.

Actually, below in your backtrace, I don't see how you tripped over the assert,
you did run in the release build crash.

That won't change if I remove the assert now and the invariant is broken again,
we just get a worse developer experience for debug compiles.

Perhaps you use assertions for other things, I use them in most cases for the
stuff you read for example here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assertion_(software_development)

* Assertions during the development cycle

I would be happy if that assertion could be proven during compile time as some
static assertion, but static analysis will not do that for you with reasonable
effort. That would actually be the nicest kind of assert there: no compile if
we break this logic.
