This module seems too much developers oriented. I mean, if a regular user lands
here it seems one can only choose which picture he'll see when he log in!
Instead, if you know what is SDDM and what is meant for you may decide, e.g. if
you want to login in a wayland or in a X11 session. But unfortunately this
setting is buried into a "Behavior" button and it's not so obvious for all to
find it there.

So maybe:
-let this module can be find by enter, e.g. "wayland" or "x11" in the search
field;
-add some (little) explanation for those (like me) who think here they can only
choose a picture :).

What about to remove the Behavior button and put its contents directly in the
window?

Can confirm, but let me add here on more thought.

I have a dual boot installation (Plasma 5/6), and in the "old" Plasma 5 energy
module I have the 3 canonical power profiles (performance, balanced, and
power-saver) available, and I can switch between them.

In Plasma 6 in Konsole I get:

powerprofilesctl list
  balanced:
Driver: placeholder

  power-saver:
Driver: placeholder

as well, but if I hit Meta+B I can switch to another power profile (this is
confirmed by powerprofilesctl get).

So I think I should have these profiles somehow here as well. Or am I'm going
wrong?

Can confirm: it occours on my "normal" Neon Unstable as well.

I found this workaround:
- install pavucontrol;
- toggle notificatins volume on from there.

After that you'll be able to use this feature from KCM as aspected:
notifications volume can be muted or unmuted, and the slider can now be
dragged.

BTW, I've never understood why the first tooltip is being displayed after a
certain delay, which is good, but the next ones are displayed immediately. This
causes many tooltips which pops here and there, and it's annoying.

I'm following this guide

and everything seems went well before that point.

Since I'm a translator and I can commit translations, I've added a key in
Invent. Should I use that key before the push?

If yes, can I resume my submitting process from that point?

Thank you

I can confirm for Italian: often an underlined word is among the suggested
ones.

I don't know if this is related, but nearly all the words which end with an
accented letter are underlined, and sometimes among the suggested ones I got
the same word, but it ends with a "?" character, see attached file.

Yes, it works with pavucontrol. But in the Systemsettings module, moving the
two sliders has no effect at all when Balance is toggle on (e.g. I move both to
zero, but sound volume is still the same). If I push Balance again and so I
have only a slider, moving it has effect on sound, but of course balance can't
be adjusted.

[lokalize] [Bug 421330] Issue for Paste/Copy from the original string to the translated string

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421330

Paolo Zamponi  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||zapa...@email.it

--- Comment #6 from Paolo Zamponi  ---
Hi! Sorry for my French (and for my English too...), but it seems you noticed
an issue related to Paste/Copy action. I can confirm. Yesterday I filed a bug:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438741

which is maybe related to this (or maybe it's a duplicate one, in that case I'm
sorry): I noticed this issue (and mine) are triggered by a drag-and-drop
operation in the translated message. Try this:

1. Open Lokalize and select a "short" message;
2. Translate it (if it's not);
3. Select a word in the message, copy it in the clipboard and move it at the
end of the message with a drag-and-drop operation;
4. Now select a longer one instead, and translate it;
5. Try to paste your copied words near the end of it: some characters (it seems
in the position you dragged and of the same amount) in the beginning of it are
deleted.
6. Close and reopen Lokalize;
7. Now try to perform your drag-and-drop operation at the end of a "long"
message;
8. Select a shorter one and try to paste: now it works fine.

It seems that Lokalize "remembers" the position and the amount of the moved
characters after you performed another drag-and-drop operation...

[lokalize] [Bug 438741] New: Dragging operation "breaks" something

2021-06-16 Thread Paolo Zamponi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438741

Bug ID: 438741
   Summary: Dragging operation "breaks" something
   Product: lokalize
   Version: 21.04.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: editor
  Assignee: sdepi...@gmail.com
  Reporter: zapa...@email.it
CC: sha...@ukr.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Sometime it's handy to drag-and-drop some words from the original message to
the translated one (e.g. identificators, and so on) if I don't have to
translate them. This generally works, but if I first:

1. select a peice of my translated message with mouse;
2. left click on the selected characters, and drag them elsewhere in the same
translated message;
3. then select a peice of the original message with mouse;
4. left click on the selected characters, and drag them in the translated
message

...I see a weird behavior: some characters in the translated message will be
deleted. It seems they were at the same position and in the same amount of
those I've dragged.

EXPECTED RESULT
All the drag-and-drop operations should works.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210614
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.82.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.12.9-1-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
After that, all the drag-and-drop operations will be corrupted.

[kate] [Bug 434096] New: Words which end with an accented letter are always underlined by the spellchecker

2021-03-07 Thread Paolo Zamponi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434096

Bug ID: 434096
   Summary: Words which end with an accented letter are always
underlined by the spellchecker
   Product: kate
   Version: 20.12.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: zapa...@email.it
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Please see the summary. I generally have the spellchecker on by default in the
System Settings.
It seems a matter of font type: I mean, if I change it maybe I see no "error",
but if I write some more words I have the all the new accented words underlined
(even if I copy an "old" one). I don't have found a font type which is OK.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use the Italian dictionary;
2. Open Kate (or KWrite) and write some words which end with an accented
letter, for example "però, papà, così, dà";
3. They are all underlined (but they shouldn't :) ).

OBSERVED RESULT
In Italian, all the words which end with an accented letter are underlined (I
can't tell you what would be if they were in the middle, in Italian they can be
only at the end...).

EXPECTED RESULT
Only misspelled words should be underlined.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210223
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If I right click on a underlined word, for example "arriverà", and I choose
"Spelling" from the popup menu I found "arriverà" in the suggested words, but
if I click on it I'll have "arriveràà" (it seems to ignore the last letter).

Tested also for the double click mode: opening in this way (i.e. with a double
click) doesn't solve the problem

Good to read this...

...but I'm still wondering if you're using 5.19 or 5.20 version! As I wrote in
the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, "These problems didn't affect Plasma 5.19 and
previous versions.". So: are you sure you referring to the 5.20 version?
> If this does not work, this is a bug for the particular application, please

This affects ALL the applications I've tried, including LibreOffice and VLC!
So, what should I do? Should I go there and open a bug saying "hey, since
Plasma 5.20 if I open a file with your software I have to reboot my sistem to
see it in Kicker's recents file"? I really don't understand your thought...
> This may be a Plasma 5.20 regression, but I would need a confirmation.
Looking at the history of this bug, it seems that Nate wrote "regression" in
the "Keywords" section of this bug. Could this be enough?
If I understood well, (sorry if I didn't) I can add that Alexander solved a bug
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420951) which probably caused this issue
due to a problem in a query, please see his comment #2...

Uh, sorry, I made some simplifications: please assume that "click" means
"open", and yes, I meant Dolphin :) .
I'm not a programmer, but if I open a file (let's say an image) in Dolphin I
think it should be added right away to the "Recent file" list (if it's not
yet), and I think this list was meant to reopen it. Please look at the
"Applications" list: it works in this way (both on Plasma 5.19 and 5.20), so my
needs is simply that someone could "copy" its behavior :) ...

Since those problems didn't affect Plasma 5.19 and previous version, could they

[plasmashell] [Bug 428085] New: "Often Used/Recent file" list doesn't work as expected

2020-10-22 Thread Paolo Zamponi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428085

Bug ID: 428085
   Summary: "Often Used/Recent file" list doesn't work as expected
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Menu (Kicker)
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: zapa...@email.it
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to "Often Used/Recent file" list and right click on a file, then "Forget
file": this file will remain in these lists.
2. Click on a file in your system (which doesn't belong to the "Often
Used/Recent file" list): it won't be added to these lists.

OBSERVED RESULT
I'm not be able to add/delete items from these lists.

EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to add/delete items from these lists.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20201019
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
These problems didn't affect Plasma 5.19 and previous versions.
"Forget All" works: the lists will be cleared.
"Applications" lists work as aspected.
By toggling Often Used/Recent file you will (maybe) find your file.

SUMMARY
Hi, I notice a readability problem in the Systemsettings module (see the
attached screenshot). This is surely due to my "poor" screen width and
resolution (laptop @1366x768). Anyway, since these screens are still quite
common on the market, some users would appreciate a better readability of this
message. I think this could be done by simply moving the second one (or a part
of it) outside of the button.

[systemsettings] [Bug 421058] New: Consistency & usability: "What's This?" vs. Tooltip

2020-05-05 Thread Paolo Zamponi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421058

Bug ID: 421058
   Summary: Consistency & usability: "What's This?" vs. Tooltip
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.18.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: task
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: zapa...@email.it
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I notice that some SystemSettings modules uses Tooltip, some other uses "What's
This?" instead. We have no consistency, but I mainly think that we should avoid
using "What's This?" in a configuration module, because:

- the informations they can carry are meant to help users, but with tooltip one
can have them right away;
- I'm not sure all the users know how "What's This?" can be triggered; if this
is true, these informations are simply unuseful;
- "What's This?" are a sort of "treasure hunt" for me, since its not visually
clear if there are or not, and what they are related to, so you have to clic
all over the page; with tooltip you have just to hover.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go in the "Windows Behavior" tab and trigger the "What's This?" help: you'll
get some useful informations ("Here you can customize the way windows behave
when being moved, resized or clicked on. You can also..."), but these
informations could be placed directy at the top the module (this was done in
"Night Color" module).
2. If you remain in this module you'll see that nearly all the options have a
the "What's This?" help, but it's not visually obvious;
3. Go in the next module, Switcher: tooltips are used here (and I think this is
good).
4. And so on...

OBSERVED RESULT
There is no a rule, sometimes "What's This?" is used, sometimes Tooltip is used
instead. "What's This?" is not so handy in a configuration module, imho.

EXPECTED RESULT
A little description at the top of each module could be welcome (e.g. see the
"Night Color" module). I think also that in the settings pages we should always
use tooltip instead of "What's This?", because:

-users should have all the informations available right away;
-perhaps most of them don't know how to trigger a "What's This?" help.
