Re: [LU] Championship

2024-05-27 Thread Jonathan Wynne via Leedslist

Absolutely. A set piece coach should long since have been a no-brainer.
Nothing to lose and 6-12 goals per season to gain surely.
And we must sign 1 or 2 good players who happen to be 6 foot 4 and can
help convert set piece chances. We've still not replaced Pontus in this
respect.

I do think he and we need to appoint a specialist set piece coach

I'm currently pinning my hopes on the thought that maybe just maybe we

Well that went from worry to relief to ecstasy very quickly. On 85
minutes it looked like a pretty poor performance was going to end with 2
points dropped,  then by 89 it was relief all round as 2-1 would be
enough,  then total fun and laughter as James scored as great a goal to
watch as you can get, the ball heading goalwards as the keeper was miles
away, one bounce , is it on target? Yes as it nestled into the side of
net , brilliant and cue MOT and i predict a riot as Georginio brought
Matteo over to do the h ay ay ay celebrations.

Pre game we knew Leicester had won,  Ipswich were 2 2 as we left the pub
but had won before we got to the taxi,  so we had to win or risk falling
a bit behind.

We started well, an amazing run by Georginio led to him feeding
Summerville whose shot was well saved but as the ball looped up Sam
Byram leapt like a salmon at the far post and headed ( faced?)  it in.

A bit later a lovely cross by James was met by Bamford sliding in to
poke home - 2 0  and game as good as over,  except somehow Paddy caught
it with his shin and it went miles over, a terrible miss.

After that we lost our way and Hull took complete control.  Luckily
apart from their goal they did not really create any real chances.  The
goal came as one lad skipped through a few half hearted challenges and
crossed into the box, the forward got in ahead of Rodon (?) and finished
well.

We were chasing shadows a bit, Kamara having a mare, Gray showing why he
is not first choice midfield yet. Bamford got no service as the whole
team struggled.  Hull were very comfortable apart from one scramble when
Georginio,  Summerville and Firpo all had shots blocked.

Second half was similar with us finding it hard to get or keep the ball
and many players looking tired and below par. Then on 70 came the subs
and we found some energy and a bit of impetus.  We started to create a
few half chances,  Gray was denied what looked like a penalty,  Matteo
hit the post, Firpo should have scored with a header. Then as the game
was looking like a draw , Summerville ran down the wing  took on the
full back  beating him with ease, but then being 'taken out' before he
could cross. 100% a penalty but stupid defending.

Cue a very odd moment- Firpo took the ball, we all thought it was just
the modern way , one player pretends to take it then hands to the actual
taker when everything has setlled down. Here Summerville took it off him
as Piroe came to grab it ( double bluff?) . Then Summerville refused to
give it up and Ampadu got involved - it looked bad and the pressure on
Summerville was ramped up " he had better score " was said by many of
us.  No need to worry - Summerville was as casual as you can be ,
sending  the keeper one way and rolling the ball down the middle. As
much relief as celebration in the crowd.

Just see it out now - 7 minutes mainly added on due to their time
wasting could still cost us, especially when Georginio instead of
hammering the ball away gave it to a Hull player on the edge of the
area.

Their keeper was up for a corner and stayed up - big mistake as we
cleared the ball to Piroe on the wing, instead of kicking it as far as
he could he fed DJ , we hoped/ expected him to put his head down and run
to their corner flag,  instead he knew the keeper was nowhere and shot
from just inside their half, the rest is history, one bounce and 3 1. DJ
rammed the " who let his country down " chants from the Hull fans down
their throats

So 3pts to us Leicester and Ipswich as Southampton are probably out of
the race, so 2 from 3 and it is anyones guess who will do what.

A great result after a hard game, 5 or 6 days now to get Gruev ( who was
badly missed ) fit and hopefully Rodon,  Kamara and Byram back to 100% -
all had issues yesterday

Six games to go, none will be easy but Coventry away next time up is
perhaps the most difficult- (that and Boro-)  so a win by any means
necessary will do

Come on Leeds

Well we certainly shot them down yesterday.  As the new saying goes "
beware the sides of Marsch" That was as good as it gets, and should be a
sea change in our attitude towards Marsch - lots still resent him for
not being Bielsa but if we play like we did v chelsae he will be a fine
replacement for the great manPre game I wondered how the crowd would re-
act to another beating at the hands of the top six,  would we cheer them
fron the rafters as we always did under MB or would we turn like we did
v Villa ?In the event it was a question we would not need answers to.
This was the day we became Jesse Marsch's team and I liked it

We were all action, all the time , with good moves and good football
thrown in, in front of an old fashioned English crowd - lets hope we
never lose that edge on the terraces

A dodgy start saw Sterling waltz through the defence and blast wide in
the first few minutes, then our Achilles heel come to the fore as twice
they had a spare man wide, thankfully when they found their shooting
boots the flag and then Mesliers long arms saved us from going behind.

Then roared on by the crowd , cheering every tackle , we began to
dominate and take control,  knocking them off their stride and rattling
them. They could not cope with our intensity , Adams who was superb,
buzzed around and was here there and everywhere ably supported by
Aaronson who put in a real shift and Jackie H. Roca added a bit of poise
to the madness.

The first goal - not an own goal Tuchel you whinging,  moaning,  lying
bad loser- was great and will happen again.  Aaronson gave the keeper no
time as he chased him down took the ball off him and rolled it into an
empty net.  The crowd loved it , it was better than a 40 yarder!

A few minutes later a lovely bit of skill by Struik,  not the answer but
growing into the left back position,  ended with the ball being fed to
Roca. As he went down and the yellow card came out , I thought  "
stimulation  " but the card was for their player and the free kick was
ours. A lovely cross in and there was Rod to head home , brilliant,  and
a goal he would never have scored last season.  As my son said , as the
Moreno chant echoed round, why did we persevere with Rodrigo when we had
this Moreno chap all along. He really does look a different person

At 2 up we started to believe but last week v Southampton was st the
back of our minds.

Chelsea when we thought they would come out second half all guns blazing
, still could not get a foothold as Koch, lloremte, Struik and
Kristensen stood firm. Meslier making the odd save to keep himself
involved.

The 3rd when it came was majestic and the icing on  the cake - nice ball
to James,  cross fell to Rod whose shot,  going wide was pounced on at
full stretch by Harrison. Then we knew we were winning this. The crowd
roared,  chanted and applauded their heroics as Marsch learning from
last week made the subs, Forshaw for the tiring Roca to firm things up,
Klich to add steel and guile and cleverness,  then Sinisterra and Joffy
to add the unexpected,  Joffy again making a difference this time
flicking the ball over his head, laying it off and being thrown to the
floor as he went for the return pass- 2nd yellow and off the Chelsea lad
went, " with time to go" ringing in his ears

The final whistle brought more cheers as I predict a riot blasted out
with 36,000 voices joining in. What a game, what an atmosphere what a
result.  Well worth the hassle of delayed trains and early start on a
Sunday

If this is what we have to look forward to under Marsch then bring it
on. It's not Bielsaball but it is fun nonetheless and he could be a
worthy successor on the pitch.  This could be the game when we accept
Bielsa is gone and we get 100% behind the new manager,  to be honest
it's the least he deserves if we keep playing like this .

As fans we ask for 100% commitment and effort, we are certainly getting
both this season

So brilliant stuff and will send me on my holidays with a smile in my
face ( missing Barnsley and Everton - here's hoping for a cup run and
3more home points)So we have 7pts from 3 games that brought only 1 in
the corresponding fixtures last season,  that's got to be good. Brighton
will be tough but no reason we cant get at least a point

DaveVery happy today MOT

Well what a difference a few days can make - Thursday a half full ER boo
the players off and walk out all doom and gloom. Sunday a still packed
ER is bouncing, singing along to I predict a riot and chanting outside
the ground, all smiles.

It was nearly do different as we threw away our deserved lead just as
the added time (6mins) was announced.  We made the most of that 6mins
with a goal from our wonder boy and a great save from our bit wonder.

Jesse picked the expected team and PLAYED PLAYERS IN THEIR PROPER
POSITION  - Ayling right  back, Klicth  and Forshaw in midfield and with
a striker at number 9.

The game itself was decent enough,  we played pretty well with Rodrigo
and Raph both getting back to the players they can be. We opened the
scoring with a long ball aimed at Bamford who also had a mainly good 45,
the defender headed it back and Rodrigo pushed James aside and shot
home.  We then bossed the game with chance after chance going begging -
at 2 nil it would be game over but we did not manage it. Raph hit the
bar with a great shot after a lovely cross field one two with Paddy,
Stryik missed an easy header and the easier rebound, James scored but
was offside, Bamford turned back into championship paddy and missed a
sitter, Raph hit the bar again with a free kick, James made the keeper
pull off a good save as chances came and went.

They offered almost nothing for most of the game but the ref who was
poor and had no control of the game pointed to the penalty spot after a
Norwich player went down ( not for the first time - thus js very much a
Dean Smith team, diving, moaning, play acting) but VAR corrected his
obvious error :-) ( VAR still shit and spolis the game)

We took off Rod and tried to shore thi6gs up with the Koch brought on, I
got the idea since it did look as if we would not score the second,  but
it just I voted them on to us and they began to put us under pressure.
So it was no great surprise when they got behind us down the wing,
crossed and fired home. 2 points thrown away and relegation threatening.
Then on came Joffy, the boy who makes magic happen.  He won a long ball
and flicked the header on, Raph playing with an energy and determination
that has been slightly lacking recently,  beat the defender and rounded
the keeper , hes taken it too far we thought  it he used his know how
and looked up and pulled it back to Joffy- right place,  right time,
right player who hit it I  from a yard. Absolute bedlam in the stands -
up there with Blackburn and second v scum- we went mental

But still time for drama as their keeper went up for a free kick,
caused  chaos and the ball fell to pukki (?)   in the 6yd box but his
shot hit Mes6who stood tall ( may have saved with his face ?)  Brilliant
stuff, it's what we go to games for, real drama and excitement.

So the return of Paddy, another bit of magic from Joffy, Raph back to
his best, and most importantly of all 3 more points. What a difference a
few days makes

Loved it

I'm watching the stream of the play-off game between Havant and Dartford
(I was born in Dartford, so I occasionally follow their fortunes).

And in charge of Havant today is none other than Ian Baird, formerly of
this parish. He's their assistant manager, but is in charge today
because their manager is serving a touchline ban.

For those who care about the game (and you probably don't) Havant are
1-0 up at half-time, but are down to 10 men when a player swung his leg
and didn't even connect with his intended target. Not proper violent
conduct and very harsh in my view, even though it benefits the team I'm
supporting.

I feel I'm paying the price for hoping Preston would be good enough
tonight to help themselves and us. We had our answer after 4 minutes of
that game.

I've said for a while it will be Brentford plus one who go up. So big
pressure on the Barnsley game. Hopefully we can put a chance away in the
first half to steady nerves and force them to come and try to get
something from the game. The Stoke game was nervy till the pen. And
Luton showed Barnsley what can be achieved at ER, and I guess they'll
also try to rile Berardi tomorrow.

I really thought the rollercoaster was almost over after Swansea, but
now the pressure's back big-time. Hopefully the players have been
coached in forgetting what other teams are doing, but judging by what
Forshaw said recently the lads will be well aware and pressurised by
Brentford's win tonight (coupled with the other two teams' winnable
final fixtures).

Derby ought to be the least motivated, most beatable, of our three
opponents, as it looks as though Charlton will still need something come
next week.

Let's hope Preston, who still have play off aspirations, can do
something, because I really have the jitters over Barnsley - much too
similar to the 89/90 promotion when we were massive odds on to hammer
them out of sight and yet managed to lose ( us unbeaten at home prior to
this and them with no away victory that season). That was also our
penultimate home game. Before anyone counters with 'lightning doesn't
strike twice ' - remember Wigan the last 2 seasons
As in 89/90 the saving grace is that even a defeat to Barnsley may not
be fatal - then It was Leicester at home ( Strachan " have you ever seen
a better goal, or one better timed") plus , of course Chappy at
Bournemouth. This time it will be ex Frank Lampards now Wayne Rooneys
Derby, who are now effectively out of the play off race and Lee Bowyers
Charlton, who hopefully will be safe ( or down?) by then. So 2 teams
with nothing really to play for and no crowd to spur them on
Weirdly writing this re Barnsley and the fact that it will not cost us
promotion makes me feel miles calmer and more confident that this time
we WILL do it

what a pile of shite. I think the best thing I could say is that they're
certainly not bullying us out of it mainly cos they are shit. Long throws as
per Boro are their main tactic.
we've tried to play but the obsession with passing it around at the back has
caused our main problems. the players aren't good enough to play that game
under pressure in a game like this.
We've created little , the best chance falling to Roberts just before half-time
when he ran for a ball, he was second best to win it but it fell for him and he
placed it towards the goal but it hit hte keeper and didn't have the pace. Not
surprisingly Roberts has looked a tad lightweight but he's had no service.
Harrison has hardly touched the ball in their half.
Allioski has made some good runs but guess what ? everytime off-side. Wish he
would grow some brain cells.
Difficult to call this one, but I suspect one of their long throws wll
eventually fall on Morrisons head. Just hope we can score at the other end. We
have defended well at times with Jansson and Cooper.

I just remember the Charlton fans' 'You're staying down with the Palace' song
at the end, before I drove back home distraught to North Kent, avoiding eye
contact with them all in the traffic and at service stations!Jonathan

Just read on waccoe that it is 31 years since we lost to Charlton in the play
off finalA day out I remember well - It was pre mobile phones and yet myself

managed to meet up in a pub outside New street (following our 'first right out
of the station and then keep walking to first pub, unless there is one obvious
from station' plan that we always used came up trumps as it most often did)We
ended up in the afternoon when the pubs shut (was before 24 hr opening) getting
some bottles and going to a local park where we, along with some other Leeds
fans, ended up playing an impromptu game of football (my mate smuggled the ball
into the ground where Ian Baird kicked it back into the stands in the pre-match
warm up)
On the way to the ground I saw what I thought was the only Brummie lad I knew
(from a course at work) turns out it was his twin brother !!
We swamped the ground with Charlton having around 300 in one corner - the
play-offs had not really taken off and are not the dog and pony show they are
now.
Then that glorious moment when Shez (possibly my old time Leeds favourite) got
that free-kick and the world was magnificent for a few minutes and then all
came crashing down.
The 'we will support you ever more' songs after the final whistle and Baird
getting stripped down to his undies. A dodgy walk back to New Street with Brum
fans trying to ambush us all the way back and being chased off.
I always remember the journey back (we all went to Leeds) sat in total silence
for around an hour and then someone said "imagine this team in the first
division (as it was)" - that cracked us all up and the atmosphere become one of
gallows humour but humour non the less. Got to Leeds in time for a couple of
late night beers but we were not in the mood for it, so back to my mates house
where he put his Leeds United LP on the stereo and on repeat as we stayed up
till the early hours. Then a trek back home to Salford thinking of what might
have been to find a message on my answerphone from my (scum supporting ) cousin
saying "for once I wanted Leeds to win then I heard after the goal 'are you
watching / listening (?) Manchester and that reminded him how much he hated us"

Seems like we need Forshaw and Roberts both to make an immediate impact on the
results. A tall order. Only Lasogga from memory has made an instant impact (2
debut goals) but overall the jury was soon out.If only we could boss midfield
and get a  pipeline of chances coming in each game. Then I think we’d have more
consistency from whomever is playing as striker. Even Hull last night seemed to
always carry a threat, coming forward (esp down the left) in waves. And (even)
Millwall bossed both games and created chance after chance. Too many of our
chances arise randomly, not looking in any way planned. And I’m not seeing
evidence now of our set piece maestro’s input - did he advise Pablo on all
those wasted free kicks last night? Hope not.

Re: [LU] Millwall

2018-01-21 Thread JONATHAN WYNNE
Absolutely spot on, including on the tricky question of Toby. Everyone wishes
him the very best of course, but the whole PR side of it was uncomfortable to
watch: and, yes, quite probably distracting (again) for Cooper. We all know a
child of that age can not be a ‘fan’ in the way older people are, so making for
a feeling of manipulation for PR. It’s a shame. I wouldn’t suggest abandoning
‘giving back’ like this. Not at all. It’s just a matter of how it’s handled.
Nonetheless, please make Pontus captain for the next three games and
permanently. Often our best player, a leader as far as I can make out and
someone who, unlike Cooper IMHO, should always be in the team.
And I hope the expensive and avoidable lesson of playing no striker for the
last 10 minutes has been learned by TC.
All that said, Millwall’s double over us (both deserved wins) puts us on our
place in the order of Championship things. They looked like they had more
players than us even when we had 11 on the pitch. It all suggests we could end
up lower than last year’s 7th. Lots for TC to ponder before Hull.

I've only just calmed down enough to compose my thoughts on this game, As
others have said, what a gut-wrenchingly typical Leeds United supporter
experience that was. Anyway, here are a few thoughts:

- I said this after the Sheffield Utd game and I'll say it again: it is madness
to have Liam Cooper (or any first team player, but especially the team captain)
personally involved with Toby Nye in the lead-up to kick-off. The kid is
terribly ill, and it must create all sorts of emotions in a normal man to look
into the kid's eyes and interact with him. Just as happened in the Sheffield
Utd game, Cooper's mind seemed elsewhere in the opening minutes, and before you
know it he's sent off for a reckless lunge. Whoever thought it would be a good
idea to mess with Cooper's head this way should be fired. (I mean, the club's
already raised the money for the kid's operation - there was no need to have
him out there at all!)

- I thought TC should have sent Pennington on as soon as Cooper was sent off.
What was he waiting for? With two center-halves on the field we never would
have conceded that second goal.

- TC's game management at the end of the game has also rightly been called into
question. It's easy to say with hindsight, but clearly when we pulled off both
our forwards, we should have replaced at least one of them with an attacking
player (either Sacko or Cibicki - my vote would be Sacko, because of his pace).
We just invited Millwall onto us and it didn't work. I am also beginning to
doubt Shaughnessy - how many times has he come on and we've conceded? (Not to
mention that he could have equalized at the death but hit the ball straight at
the keeper to finish what was our best move of the game.)

- Having criticized TC, I will say that he deserves credit for the team's
attitude when they come out for the second half. That was phenomenal.

- We now have zero points from the first two games of Saiz's six-game ban. When
we look back, the decision to field such an under-strength side against
Newport, and then to stack the bench with kids plus Saiz, will likely appear as
the downward turning point of a season that had promised so much.

- In our next two games, the following first-team squad players will all be
unavailable: Saiz, Phillips (his booking yesterday was stupid and deserves a
fine), Cooper (a four-game ban for him now), and O'Kane, all suspended, plus
Ekuban and Ayling injured. We'd better hope that Forshaw's supposedly minor
ailment is just that, and he doesn't turn out to be another Ekuban. We ciould
really use that Japanese international midfielder we just signed and then sent
to ply his trade in the lower reaches of Spain's second ttier.

- I fear that avoidable mistakes have wasted our season. The club makes a big
deal about "fiive-year plans" but has anyone explained to Radz that other clubs
don't care about our five-year plan. They will raid our squad for it's best
players this summer and it'll be back to square one.

Cheers!

Anyone know if the game is being shown (here) in france? Beinsport used to show

Not as depressed as usual as we at least didn't drop any points today. And a
few of the better players got a rest. Hope they benefited: brighton (improving,
new manager) and millwall (at Blackpool) are more likely than us to win on
Saturday and, if they do and we don't, it's the bottom three for us. A cheering
thought.

The aftermath of Murphy's first booking told me it would not take much for him
to see red. I shouted at the TV to sub him now. He was hardly likely to do much
anyway, and especially if on his best behaviour. I would have really respected
Hockaday if he'd used his common sense and replaced Murphy straightaway.

suspect Hocks is gone though and where were all the new imports or was that our

what could a new manager do with that shower though?

Re: [LU] Liverpool.. maybe my last words here

2014-04-20 Thread Jonathan Wynne
I always remember going to our 1-0 defeat at Chelsea the saturday after
Hillsborough. Someone had tied a Leeds and a Liverpool scarf together and fixed
them to the fencing at the front of the Leeds end. A classy and at the time
poignant gesture.

The only reason I don't want them to win the league this year is that younger
football fans are always amazed when I inform them that Leeds were champions
more recently than Liverpool!

When I moved to Liverpool in 1971 at age 5 from Scotland and chose an English
team it was obviously Leeds because we were the best and had some Scottish
players obviously and my mate Kevin supported them and Liverpool were not
destined to be huge for 20 years were they? I stayed Leeds loyal all these
years because I am a stubborn twat.. a similar trait with several here
although you may have been born in Leeds so have no choice... I have lived in
the Middle East for the last 22 years... FYI.

There was a recent BBC thread on Leeds on what happened from an author who
pointed out that all Leeds fans do is moan, why us, why this why that etc.
What has happened to Leeds United? Part of my joy of this list is the eternal
pessimism whether we win lose or draw, it somehow makes my life better to
know the pain we all go through week in week out. but we get through it.

It is an obvious difficult issue when people are killed at any ground for any
team or any fan and yes I agree I have many scouser friends who are now
constantly giving me the Hillsborough 96 blah blah, but the fact is it
happened and no matter how you want to paint it people died right or wrong.
Turkey scum, Arsenal scum, Liverpool scum... seriously guys? seriously?
 people died.

I thought we were football fans? Anfield is one of the only grounds I have
ever gone to where the fans stand up and actually applaud a team who beat
them, they are fans like us who recognise skills and ability and talent and
support their team winning or losing. Fuck me we won the league since they
 last did

I lost a mate at Hillsborough, a school friend who in fairness I had not seen
for many years but nevertheless he is gone. we all have a laugh here but
sometimes just sometimes maybe we should think about our comments and that
 includes me.

Leeds has had a tough time, my mate Rick took over Radio Yorkshire in
November and asked me to run the sports section for footy and rugby league,
he meets and met Ken Bates on many occasions and I was in Leeds less than two
months ago, fuck me I have some stories but it would compromise him and he is
my mate, maybe one time I will tell you some stories.. not now. By the way I
couldn't do it but didn't post it here whilst I was in negotiations. I
wish them well regardless of your comments that may follow here.

Not sure how this missive will be received.. maybe time to retire. I'm not
asking for any sensitive oh poor you shit comments here but maybe a little
humility from some of the generic crass comments that normally come from some
 of the regulars... x

[LU] Another shocker

2013-09-28 Thread JONATHAN WYNNE
Was there today and to be fair I went predicting a bad game and a 1-0 defeat,
so expectations were pretty much met.
I wonder how many of the players seriously thought we would win or even score
today, now that we're on a clear downward spiral and every scoreless defeats
saps confidence further.
McDermott's honeymoon for me is well and truly over. There was no evidence
today of what the plan was when we had the ball or what they might have been
practising or discussing during the week. No pace of course, with Poleon rooted
to the bench and White banished. If ever we seemed to have some forward
momentum, you could be sure that the ball would be passed sideways or backwards
to allow Millwall to regroup and handle any potential danger. Millwall are a
poor team, but we are a very easy team to beat. Bournemouth must be licking
their lips, but that game is now huge for McDermott - if we end up with another
scoreless defeat (which seems very achievable) we'll be an the relegation scrap
for sure and the crowd may start to turn on him.
He'll probably speak about not being side-tracked by this defeat and not
letting it stop us doing what we're trying to do - but what is it that we're
trying to do (I have no idea)? I really do like him and I don't want him to
fail, but what I've seen live or on TV this season has been mainly shocking.
When we went down, we were in such disarray I predicted we'd take ten years to
get back up. It will be longer than that for sure, because we're going nowhere
this season and I hope we have enough to stay up. What worries me now is that
we may never get back and that we're a Derby or a Sheff Weds now - and over
time our global support (one of the things that still makes me believe we're a
top six club, as Noel Hunt said) will age and diminish.
McDermott needs to get some momentum very soon now and I suggest he needs to
gamble a bit. Today we were set up to get a draw, whatever change of formation
we had in theory. Tuesday is one of the season's most winnable games. He needs
to start with Poleon, Byram and White, so there's some pace to make Bournemouth
have to work and so that we have some belief that we can score the 2 or 3 we'll
need to to win the game. Mowatt did well today, so he should definitely start
too. And hopefully we'll have either the Icelandic striker or someone else to
rejuvenate the forward line?
Very disillusioned tonight, so this is my therapy - sorry not to have anything
more upbeat to report!

Re: [LU] Redfearn

2013-04-06 Thread JONATHAN WYNNE
Just back from game and didn't hear said interview but I was angry with
Redfearn today. I can only assume he's not got the authority with the players
to be able to try things. I know he can't conjure new talent from thin air, but
I saw nothing today that couldn't have come from a Warnock team - no pace, the
only player with a degree of pace (Whyte) subbed, Poleon and Habibou rooted to
the bench, no Hall, Brown on for Tonge late on (an absolutely nothing decision
which failed to shore us up and preserve the point we had at that stage), and
always vulnerable to opposition pace at the back. Oh, and the trademark late
header conceded from close range.
Very depressing today. Ross tried hard but he never looked convinced he was
going to create anything.

Listening to his interview, he is making pathetic excuses. So obviously not a
leader.

We have conceded crucial, result-changing goals in the last six minutes five
times in the last seven games. That points to a lack of fitness.

The club needs an overhaul from top (GFH out) to bottom (the playing staff).

[LU] City game in France

2013-02-11 Thread JONATHAN WYNNE
Anyone know if the City game will be showing on any French TV channels or TV
channels typically available in France? I doubt the usual bar (which has Sky)
I've used before will have ESPN - and we've always lost in that bar anyway.
Thanks

Just back from game. At least Grayson brought Kilkenny and Watt on at half-time
rather than waiting to do so. But you were left wondering how different the
game would have been if we'd started with the 11, including Somma, that we
finished with. First half we were awful. Second half we created a lot. Surely
this was such a make or break game that we needed to gamble from the start, if
having two up front and more creativity in midfield is actually gambling.

[LU] Pub with Sky in Perpignan area to watch Swansea game?

2011-02-18 Thread JONATHAN WYNNE

Anyone happen to know anywhere with Sky and open Saturday afternoons out of
season?
I'd be grateful to hear off-list.
Perpignan-Argeles-Ceret area.
Or is there a site to find such information out?
Thanks,
Jonathan
