Dear all, I am writing a book on LaTeX and LyX in the field of the
Humanities. I read the document about LyX and linguistics and also the
HumanitiesLyX section in the wiki pages; can someone kindly point out
any other good article about LyX in the Humanities?

LyX-doc EmbeddedObjects not compiling

Dear Helpers,

Today I tried to make a pdf or dvi from the LyX Help doc/de  
EmbeddedObjects, but it stops with LaTeX errors at the floating table 22  
before the section head 2.12.3. I report the first LaTeX errors below.


I am completely at a loss with this fact. I wanted to have the  
EmbeddedObjects.lyx as pdf for better being able to study it…


Any advice/hint, what's going wrong and/or the way out?

At least some areas of linguistics could be placed in the humanities,

lyx 1.6.5 for linux 64

Where can I find lyx 1.6.5 for linux 64, preferably as a .deb package?
Kubuntu only sports 1.6.4

OK! Just did that. was going to paste the the ticket number here but I
forgot that nowadays a write to vim's internal buffer tends to overwrite
the mouse based clipboard. And I made the mistake of trimming down the
excessive quoted material with dd before  middle clicking in insert mode.
And right now I don't have time to go search for it... Got things to do
before my lady gets home Bye!

But in any case, it's in there somewhere.

LyX version control with git

Hi,

as of version 1.6.4, LyX has a pull down menu File - Version control, which
apparently supports CVS and SVN. Any plans to support git as well ?

Not really I think, but you can define your own commands by using the 
vc-command lfuns in the stdmenus file.

As written in the text, the LaTeX-package takes the whole table content as math.
\textasciitilde is therefore indeed not correct, it is nevertheless strange that you cannot compile 
the file due to a warning.


I replaced the ~ now with a +, please check if this version:

works now for you.

You have a book class. Books are printed double-sided; therefore a new chapter is started on the

 chapterprefix=true
I correctly get the word chapter in front of the chapter number at the page 
where the chapter starts.

If nothing helps, update your LaTeX distribution to TeXLive 2009 or at least 
2008.

You haven#t used the new version, but the old one. Can you please recheck this? You can see if you 
are using the correct one by checking that the problematic table 2.22 contains now a + instead of 
a ~ in the third table column.

At least some areas of linguistics could be placed in the humanities,

Where can I find lyx 1.6.5 for linux 64, preferably as a .deb package?
Kubuntu only sports 1.6.4

OK! Just did that. was going to paste the the ticket number here but I
forgot that nowadays a write to vim's internal buffer tends to overwrite
the mouse based clipboard. And I made the mistake of trimming down the
excessive quoted material with dd before  middle clicking in insert mode.
And right now I don't have time to go search for it... Got things to do
before my lady gets home Bye!

But in any case, it's in there somewhere.

LyX version control with git

Hi,

as of version 1.6.4, LyX has a pull down menu "File -> Version control", which
apparently supports CVS and SVN. Any plans to support git as well ?

Not really I think, but you can define your own commands by using the 
vc-command lfuns in the stdmenus file.

You have a book class. Books are printed double-sided; therefore a new chapter is started on the 
next available right page. In case the previous chapter ends also on a right page, you get one blank 
page.

 Document Class: scrbook 2009/07/24 v3.04a KOMA-Script document class (book)

and when adding the document class option
 chapterprefix=true
I correctly get the word "chapter" in front of the chapter number at the page 
where the chapter starts.

If nothing helps, update your LaTeX distribution to TeXLive 2009 or at least 
2008.

You haven#t used the new version, but the old one. Can you please recheck this? You can see if you 
are using the correct one by checking that the problematic table 2.22 contains now a "+" instead of 
a "~" in the third table column.
