2015-01-15 Thread Sarah k Alawami
I still don't ' trust it. Wyen you enter a folder you have to double click it
with the track pad, and I mean physically press it. Also some stuff cannot be
arrowed through for editing like the multi url box. it still needs a lot of
work.

I've contacted them over and over for the past 4 years and they now just ignore
me and say they are still working on the linux client.

Actually that does not work. the hitting enter before opening the message. it
works, but the thread/conversation will still be open . If you have a thread
cmd r will not work unless you expand the thread with right arrow, down arrow
to the message, hit cmd r, reply then hit left arrow to collapse the thread.

I cannot vouch for your provider but I know that there are some mobile
providers who do block this type of content. In the UK, I know that there have
been a lot of complaints to OffCom, the independent watchdog of the
telecommunications industry, because automatic updates have caused users to
exceed their monthly bandwidth allocation, and/or incurred very large bills.
Actually, Windows phone users are more vulnerable to this than OS X or iOS
users because these OS’s usually let you know before downloading large updates,
whereas Windows Phone just “does it”, on-the-fly.

Well Chris it is probably my Mac Book Pro because more often than not I don't
get the clicks when putting in passwords wheress on my MBA it is not an issue.

OK, now, I don't remember having that problem with putting in my password,
but again, realize that there may have been an update since when I tried,
which broke that. Gosh, looks like I may just have to reinstall long enough
to see what's going on.

Re: [Mac-access]: Mac Questions

2015-01-15 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
OK, I'll let others answer most of your questions, as I've gotta get to work
after I finnish this batch of e-mail, but as for your default mail account,
that, I will help you with, right quick.

So, here's what you need to do to fix that.

1. Open up Mail on your mac.

2. Now, go to preferences with command+Comma.

3. In here, interact with your toolbar, and vo+right arrow to the composing
tab. Select it with vo+Space, then stop interacting with the toolbar.

4. vo+right arrow, and eventually you'll see a popup button for selecting
the default account. Vo+space on this. You then should be able to switch
things to the account you wish to be the default.

Subject: [Mac-access]: Mac Questions

When I am logging in to my Mac the volume of voice over is just fine but
once I get to finder the volume is greatly increased. I have reduced this
volume when at the finder but again next time I login again the volume has
again reverted to very loud. How can I make it that it does not do this?
I would also like to make one of my three e-mail addresses the default
one, currently I have to keep changing it as iCloud is the default.

Finally I seem to have 2 groups of Contacts in my contacts app, iCloud and
Google. Is it possible simply to merge these as I would rather have all
together. I also do not know how to navigate to the information in a
contact from the contact table where the particular contact is
highlighted.

Thanks

Eleanor

Well I was just saying that I was aware of someone else who had written. I
do not know who to write to so if you would like to put his e-mail contact
on list that would be a start. I really was unsure if it were a sendspace
problem as for example om my Mac Book Air I get clicks when I write in a
password field but many times on my Mac Book Pro there are no clicks in
password fields. I got sighted assistance when putting in my username and
password in the sendspace app and yet Sarah said she was unable to do it
without sighted assistance so we all have different capability levels.

In situations, such as this, EVERYONE having the problem must write to
whoever can fix it. This guy wrote back to me many times, saying that
there was no problem, and stated that they had added the VoiceOver
compatability switch, and everything worked fine for everyone else.
Because they refuse to communicate via anything other email, it is very
difficult, at best, to explain what is going on. I need to retrieve files
from SendSpace on a regular basis, and have given up trying to do it with
my Mac. Instead, I download them to my 10+ years windows xp laptop. This
is quite a pain, as I want to get away from using that machine IIf only we
could convince these guys to check out the issue on their end: run VO and
turn off the screen!! I asked him to do this, several times. Just because
Sarah wrote to him, and I wrote doesn't mean that no one else should bring
the issue with his program. Diane Bomar

Re: [Mac-access]: Installing the sendspace wizard for mac

2015-01-15 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Actually, I used to be one of the ASendspace Wizard developers, believe it
or not, but I quit the position, as like you all have seen, they really
don't seem to listen. Every time that I would report a bug, they never
really seemed to care to fix it. I didn't do the coding aspect of it, I was
more in the support/trouble shooting division. Eventually, they denied me
access to their ticketting system, and when I wrote asking them why, they
never got back with me until about half a year later, out of the clear blue.
Of course by then, I'd already quit, so their message wasn't even rellavent
anymore.

I started using Dropbox, and have got to say, I've never been happier.

OK, the web site is slightly confusing at times, but it's definitely not
impossible.

The software however works incredibly well! I've never had a single
problem, that I can recall off hand. I'm not sure how responsive their
support is, but that's only because really honestly, I've never really
needed to contact them in the first place.

Anyway, I'm veering off topic from Sendspace, so let me work that back in.
Yeah, I would try enabling Accessibility mode, if you've not done so
already. Aside this though, I'm not sure how much more help I may be, and I
really don't want to offer too much advice here, seeing I've not used it in
so long. I'd hate to misguide someone.

What exactly under security?? Does it mean unlocking the padlock permanently? I
unlock it each time I want to make a change or is it some other setting I need

I'm not sure that I totally understand your question. I get the jidst of
it, but when you say your contacts don't look the same on your mac, can you
be more specific? Like, are you saying they're sorted differently, by last
name then first name, instead of first name last? I'm just a bit confused
on how they look different. It's gonna be very hard for us to help, not
knowing the specifics.

Re: [Mac-access]: Installing the sendspace wizard for mac

2015-01-15 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland

Oh, ok. You got it? Great!

Now, here's what you now need to do. Go into the wizard, and I dont' recall
what menu it's under, although it'll be obvious. go to your menu bar with
vo+M. Look in your menus. You're looking for an option called
accessibility mode. You want to turn that on, as by default it won't be on.
Once you've done this, I think the app will relaunch. If it doesn't, then
hit command+Q to quit, then relaunch it manually yourself, just to be on the
safe side. This should now make it work correctly with Voiceover.

Hello. copy the app file to the app folder. This is how you install 99
percent of all apps you will encounter.

Re: [Mac-access]: Installing the sendspace wizard for mac

2015-01-15 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
First off guys, unless they've changed things, I don't think that the
Sendspace wizard is a .app within the dmg. I think if I recall, it's a
.pkg. So you'd open it, follow the install wizard, and it would then
automatically put it in your applications directory.

Sorry if I'm wrong on this. I'm totally going here by memory, which I admit
is kind of fuzzy at the moment.

If you all'd like, I can try to grab the dmg and install it on my end, and
see if I can get it to run. Realize though, I'd be doing so on Mavericks,
not on Yosemite. Well? What the heck! I have a Yosemite machine. I try
to keep it as clean as possible, but if you all really really need me to
try, I guess I'll do it.

Copy the app to the applications folder. do you have asendspace user name
and password?when you open the app once it is in the applications folder
you will have two enter this information.all I can tell you is that I
required sighted assistance to do it as it did not work very well with
voice over.however, I know that Sarah on the list has managed to do this
herself without the aid of voice over.

George,

What version of OSX are you running? I doubt this would be the problem, but

Being I normally use Dropbox, and Google Drive, I'm not totally sure. I've

but many times on my Mac Book Pro there are no clicks in password fields. I got
sighted assistance when putting in my username and password in the sendspace
app and yet Sarah said she was unable to do it without sighted assistance so we
all have different capability levels.

In situations, such as this, EVERYONE having the problem must write to whoever
can fix it. This guy wrote back to me many times, saying that there was no
problem, and stated that they had added the VoiceOver compatability switch, and
everything worked fine for everyone else. Because they refuse to communicate
via anything other email, it is very difficult, at best, to explain what is
going on. I need to retrieve files from SendSpace on a regular basis, and have
given up trying to do it with my Mac. Instead, I download them to my 10+ years
windows xp laptop. This is quite a pain, as I want to get away from using that
machine IIf only we could convince these guys to check out the issue on their
end: run VO and turn off the screen!! I asked him to do this, several times.
Just because Sarah wrote to him, and I wrote doesn't mean that no one else
should bring the issue with his program. Diane Bomar

The problem I have with using Sendspace on the Mac, is the one that Eleanor was
referringnto. How many of you have written to SenndSpace, explaining the
problem. I have sent many questions, and get the response that "no one else
seems to be having a problem with VO and Sendspace. nI have turned on the VO
switch, but cannot read the login and password fieldsSo, Sarah, if you know how
to do this, please let me know, and everyone having problems with this, PLEASE
write to that arrogant dude at Sendspace. It seems that he is the only one
there, whereever "there" may be. I don't think it is in the U.S. Britain,
Canada or Australia. Can you imagine all of the data they control, without any
accountability? Sorry, I know that is off-topic, just food for thought.

[Mac-access]: iPhone Questions

2015-01-15 Thread Eleanor Burke
Hi All, I am wondering why my contacts on my iPhone and iPad Mini are identical
but they are displayed differently on my Mac. Why is this?
I am also wondering how I can select a line of text say within a message to

[Mac-access]: Mac Questions

2015-01-15 Thread Eleanor Burke
When I am logging in to my Mac the volume of voice over is just fine but once I
get to finder the volume is greatly increased. I have reduced this volume when
at the finder but again next time I login again the volume has again reverted
to very loud. How can I make it that it does not do this?
I would also like to make one of my three e-mail addresses the default one,
currently I have to keep changing it as iCloud is the default.

Finally I seem to have 2 groups of Contacts in my contacts app, iCloud and
Google. Is it possible simply to merge these as I would rather have all
together. I also do not know how to navigate to the information in a contact
from the contact table where the particular contact is highlighted.

Thanks

Eleanor
