Re: Editing an iTunes Playlist

2017-02-03 Thread Angus MacKinnon
It is interesting that the majority of my ‘invalid locations’ was music I
purchased from iTunes. I always wondered what ‘Album is a compilation of
various artists I uncheckd “Album is a compilation of various artists’ and
Everything with an Album artist was grouped. For example, the album artist of
Heart of Classic Rock’ went to the Heart of Classic Rock folder after
unchecking Album is a compilation of various artists. thank you for all the
hell with iTunes.

I remember going into Best Buy for something, it was found on their
website. I paid for it and just needed to wait till it came in. It
did 4 days later, I believe. When I went to pick it up, I was told by
a sales person, "We don't sell that or have it." I commented politely,
curving back my annoyance, "Well, I paid for it here." He looked and
sure enough, he just assumed they didn't have it without bothering to
check. So, most likely when I phoned re: the adapter, the person just
never bothered to check.

Re: Ringtones in Mac's Contacts

2017-02-03 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Everything I've read says, "Sort of". If you mean the stock ones that Apple
puts on your phone including the Classic tones, then "yes". If you mean the
custom ones that you have either purchased or made yourself, then "No". It
looks like the Mac side is not particularly good at being able to customize
specific tones to specific incoming people like the iDevice does either. At
least, not yet anyway.

Re: user log in weirdness MBA

2017-02-03 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

This is an issue with respect to Display sleep and/or Screen saver
implementations. What seems to be going on is similar to when a user has their
Mac set to require a password after sleep or screen saver. This setting is
found in the Security pane of System Prefs. Since you likely don't have this
enabled, the MacOS still seems to bring forward the authentication process
htough, but it is disabled and therefore cleared by the usual methods of
clearing screen savers or waking up the computer. I haven't determined a way
around this yet. It's not an issue for me as I have my computer set to require
my password anyway to wake it. ET has also been frustrated by this action.
Probably, it would be advisable to submit it as a bug to Apple. Not sure how
easy it will be to fix, but that's why they get paid the big bucks.

Um.. nope, not that I can remember, anyway..

do you know how to fix this?

I did try the vo space thing, but if I hit *any* key on the keyboard, the
window goes away, only to pop up again a few minutes later.

I did go into the users and log in area of system prefs, and deleted all the
users but myself and the guest account. Hubby used to share the laptop, and
for some reason, I also had an extra account for myself(not sure how that
happened!).

thanks for any insight/help!

having trouble understanding is that I did try using the iOS app to share the
desired folder and when I tried ET’s suggestion it looked very similar to the
link sent via the iOS app. I’m beginning to wonder if the recipient is not
exercising the sent link properly.

And, in fact, when I opened the context menu (VO+SHIFT-M) there was also a
“Share” option which I did try to use. The e-mail message that resulted
appeared to have only an image named for the folder I have been trying to share!

But, to both of you, thank you so very much for your suggestions!

Possibly the keychaine authorisation

Have you by any chance changed your admin password?

Subject: user log in weirdness MBA

Hi,

On my macbook air, a screen keeps popping up every ten minutes or so. It says
user log in, then has my name and a space for my password, which is dimmed out.
If I push any keys on the keyboard, the window goes away, only to pop up again
ten minutes later. Only way I could read the screen was with the track pad.
Only people on this computer are me, as admin, and a guest account. Auto log
in is enabled for me as admin.

Anybody got any ideas as to what might be going on and how to fix it so this
stupid window goes away for good??

Running latest version of Sierra, mac book air 11 inch, 2013, 256 g sad, 8 g
ram, I5 processor if any of that makes a diff.

thanks!

Caitlyn

RE: AirPods firmware 3.5.1 released

2017-02-03 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi David,

Yeah the earpods screen comes up when you open the case
But even then I'm only getting the charge level for the case and each pod no
other info is showing at least not that I've yet found.

The case needs to be open and the airpods need to be connected to the iPhone.
However, it is not necessary to actually have an airpod in one's ear.

Go to settings, general, about, and one will find an airpods button near the
bottom of the screen. Double-tap on this and the desired information screen
will appear.
