When I open the files, the want to play in my Firefox browser, which is ok, but I'm looking for a way to convert them into .avi or find a stand alone FLV player. VideoLan VLC will play FLVs, but if you want to convert them to something, try Super (search for super video converter erightsoft, the web site is weird but the program is very good, and free). Sometimes it has trouble putting flvs in other formats (might be a problem with the flv file, not sure), but in general the pgm does what it is advertised to do. The program is processor-intensive, best to set up a bunch of files then let it run overnight or when you are not otherwise using the computer. Super is also good to take vids and make them so they fit on your media player. I just wait for the video to cache, then search my HD for large files created today. The one named something like HJUEYHGKK, in a directory named Cache, with a timestamp two minutes ago, is the one I want, so I copy it to my video directory and name it as a FLV file. This usually works on Youtube, but not with the longest videos, and it does not seem to work with most other video sources. All I'm trying to do it save a few videos off YouTube, most 2-10 minutes at most. I want to save them and convert them in some way to an .mpg or .avi so that I can watch them offline, and load them on an iTouch in the near future. Flash video AFAIK takes pretty good horsepower to decompress... Yeah that's it. I think the guy is schizo or something, likes to pack all kinds of stuff on the page. It is a pretty good program though, you need to play with it a bit to learn a few little quirks, but it works pretty well. It only has 2 GB or ram, but the video I'm trying to download and convert is only about 10 minutes, so not too big. You need to go to the Firefox site in Firefox, then find the add-in and download it there.
