The stock block takeoff is an m16 thread with an m10 iso bubble flare.

My opinion is that any steel hard line is less likely to leak than a
plastic line in this location, due to high temperature. The line has three
hard attachment points with very short runs. All of them are rigidly
attached to the block. It isnt going to wiggle at all.

Copper tube has the bad habit of work hardening, then cracking, in
vibration applications... Diesel engines vibrate Oil lines to/from
turbo cracking would cause loss of engine oil pressure not a happy
event.

10 mm = 0.3937 inch

  3/8 inch = 0.3750 inch

So, the 3/8 inch tubing is 18.7 thousandths of an inch small in diameter.

You could wrap it with a single turn of 9 mil (0.009") shim stock.

Or, you could wrap it with 9 turns of 1 mil (0.001") shim stock -- which
will be much easier to handle.

Re: [MBZ] 95 diesel wagon

2019-07-07 Thread Karl Wittnebel via Mercedes
This is actually a really good starting point for a 606 swap, but it would
be a huge step backward for me. I am pretty close to bolting an entire
shelf of v8 driveline and Finnish induction and fuel injection stuff into
my 87 wagon. Just need to figure out why my metric 10mm iso bubble flare
tool will not work on 3/8" stainless tubing! The OD is nearly identical,
but the tool die will not grab the 3/8" tubing. It is the oil supply line
for the turbos.
