Maybe we can discuss meteorites instead of you inquiring about my healthcare
concerns which really are none of your business.

Perhaps a Lunar meteorite like NWA 482 will be found on private land.

It is interesting that a discussion about land being taken away for the
purpose of meteorite hunting has evolved into a discussion about a failed
healthcare system,

Apparently you do not understand. I would not mind paying for my wife's
healthcare from a private provider and have never taken any government
handouts ever. It is when the choice has been taken away with false
promises

of saving $2,400.00 a year and you would not lose your doctor that I care
about.

The exchanges are ridiculous. Come on, a $5,900 deductible is considered
a

high-end plan just because it costs as much as a mortgage payment for use
who do not qualify for a subsidy?

Obamacare is imploding under its poorly planned weight.

Time for a better thought-out private system that serves everybody and
not

socialized medicine where you have to wait for your lottery number to be
called to get any service.

A few short days ago, I was raked over the proverbial coals for complaining

I will happily end this thread about healthcare which I did not start.
Everybody has an opinion about it and mine is not good.

The voters have already spoken so my opinion doesn't matter much on this
side subject anyway..

I thought this was about land grabs, not a crappy healthcare system that
has
more than doubled in costs in Arizona this year. I am self employed and
do

not take any government subsidies is the reason it is so expensive for us.
I could let my wife go without and pay the fines (taxes) is the only
choice
I see. My wife has no preexisting conditions so we would be much better
off
with a privately offered HSA. In any case, healthcare should be left up
to

the invidividual not the government in my opinion.

Now back to the outrageous land grabs occurring at an historic rate! 200
acres could protect the historic monument yet over a million acres was

from us.

Adam, why would you be "forced" to put your wife on Obamacare? I'm just
curious. There is nothing whatsoever forcing you to do anything. You are
free and clear to select any medical insurance offered. No one is forced

It is interesting that a discussion about land being taken away for the
purpose of meteorite hunting has evolved into a discussion about a failed
healthcare system,

Apparently you do not understand. I would not mind paying for my wife's
healthcare from a private provider and have never taken any government
handouts ever. It is when the choice has been taken away with false promises
of saving $2,400.00 a year and you would not lose your doctor that I care
about.

The exchanges are ridiculous. Come on, a $5,900 deductible is considered a
high-end plan just because it costs as much as a mortgage payment for use
who do not qualify for a subsidy?

Obamacare is imploding under its poorly planned weight.

Time for a better thought-out private system that serves everybody and not
socialized medicine where you have to wait for your lottery number to be
called to get any service.

I thought this was about land grabs, not a crappy healthcare system that has
more than doubled in costs in Arizona this year. I am self employed and do
not take any government subsidies is the reason it is so expensive for us.
I could let my wife go without and pay the fines (taxes) is the only choice
I see. My wife has no preexisting conditions so we would be much better off
with a privately offered HSA. In any case, healthcare should be left up to
the invidividual not the government in my opinion.

Now back to the outrageous land grabs occurring at an historic rate! 200
acres could protect the historic monument yet over a million acres was taken
from us.

Adam, why would you be "forced" to put your wife on Obamacare? I'm just
curious. There is nothing whatsoever forcing you to do anything. You are
free and clear to select any medical insurance offered. No one is forced
into Obamacare, so that's just bullshit.
Why would you get reimbursed for a hospital visit? You pay your copay or
decidable and they pay the rest. That's all.

As far as land goes, this is my new career so I am keenly interested in it.
Most invest in some form of retirement. I have no faith in 401Ks or Social

What are American's supposed to eat, tofu? Most of the public land here in
the southwest is open range and ranchers pay a cattle head tax in order to
graze on it. If you want to keep cattle out, simply install a fence. As
far as public drinking water goes, cattle should never be able to enter a
reservoir used for drinking water. California should spend some of the
cattle head tax on fences instead of non-native mantis shrimp and minnow
studies.

Trailer parks have never been located on public land. It would defeat the
purpose of public land letting just anybody build or put permanent
structures up. I have nothing against people who were forced to live in
trailer parks due to recent poor economic conditions. There are parts of
Arizona and the entire southwest that now look like third world habitation
centers. I never thought I would see the day, in the United States, that
homeless people would be forced to live in cardboard box/tarp shelter cities
out in the desert but they have been springing up everywhere. As far as
illegal dumping goes, I agree that the laws on the books should be enforced.

Ben, List,

Ben says "The map of the Gold Butte National Monument that I saw on line,
went from the border of the Lake Mead Recreational Park on the west,
to the Arizona Border on the east and south, and almost to the the
highway near Mesquite to the north."

That encompasses the Nevada side of GB, game over! I sure am glad I got in
there when I did.

I think the vast majority of people are all for protecting archeological sites,
dino bones and tracks, etc. I sure am. However, I've always been a fan of the
'middle of the road' when it comes to many things, it doesn't always have to be
all or nothing. Closing off that much land makes no sense at all and Adam hit
the nail on the head, there's such a thing as over regulation. And hey Mike,
you don't have to make all that land off limits to stop trailer parks, be
serious friend. I spent weeks and weeks in the Gold Butte area and saw nary a
soul. This place has built in protections.. it's remote! The few people I saw
didn't even get out of the car let alone pillage and plunder, and again, like
Adam said, if thieves have a mind to steal, they will, and with impunity
because nobody is there to report them anyway. I'm all for protecting what
needs protecting but some of this stuff is out of hand. If laws are going to be
passed like this there should be input from the people that actually use the
land and have an interest in it, and some common sense should be applied.
An example of nonsense rules, I can't collect pottery chips or worked stone but
it's perfectly legal and okay for the cattle to pulverize it into oblivion.
That makes no sense and leads to a lack of confidence in the officials that
make the policies. Or how about not being able to swim in some of the
reservoirs in California because it's a protected water body, but look over

Protected from what, citizens and non-citizens trying to enjoy the
out-of-doors?

If thieves want to get to the these archeological sites, remove dinosaur
tracks or go after fossils, blocking roads will make it simpler for them.
There will be nobody else around, since this land can no longer be used for
recreational purposes, to watch over these treasures. All of the protection
built into the great pyramids in Egypt did very little to stop looters.
There is such thing as overregulation which usually results in the lose of
freedom. I do not take it lightly when some idiotic bureaucrat takes these
freedoms away.

You can stick to paved roads but many of us prefer to actually enjoy public
lands that were intended for public use by our forefathers.

It will not be long before meteorite hunters are considered thieves due to
the ridiculous 1906 Antiquities laws which were never intended to
nationalize vast areas of land without any public input whatsoever.

The meteorite collection weight limit on public land has now been reduced to
Zero pounds.

safe to say a large portion of the Nevada side Gold Basin strewn field is
now off limits, how unfortunate.

Sincerely,
Larry Atkins

Subject: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah!

Another 1.65 million acres on top of the record setting 553 million acres,
including the entire Mohave corridor, has taken out of action by Obama with
no input from the public whatsoever.

This is what meteorite hunters and future generations will be greeted by:

Note the logs blocking a once, well used trail! I wonder how many trees
have to be cut down in order to "protect" an additional 1.65 million acres.

People who have never left urban areas should not make choices about land
they have never seen!
