I have been reading this thread with much glee! This is a PRIME EXAMPLE of why I no longer suggest this list to my customers. A few short days ago, I was raked over the proverbial coals for complaining about large attachments. It seems that I happened to step on the toes of some of the 'powers that be'. Here, we have these diatribes and nary a word from those said 'powers'! I love it! I love the hypocrisy! ... from the political "He also protected thousands of archaeological sites, dinosaur tracks, fossils,... Thousands more square miles need to be protected too, as soon as possible. Thank you Mr. President." ... to the mud slinging! ... a truly professional group dedicated to the love of science! Go for it, guys! Get down and wallow in the mud! There seems to be plenty of company! -Original Message- >From: John Lutzon via Meteorite-list <meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com> >Sent: Dec 29, 2016 9:22 PM >To: Raremeteorites <raremeteori...@centurylink.net> >Cc: meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com >Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah! > >NOW, you are insulting all of us---sell "one" of your special >off road vehicles and you'll be able to pay for the best medical >plan on the planet for 10 years !! > >Stop this thread > > >- Original Message - >From: "Raremeteorites via Meteorite-list" <meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com> >To: <meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com> >Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2016 9:16 PM >Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah! > > >I thought this was about land grabs, not a crappy healthcare system that has >more than doubled in costs in Arizona this year. If there happens to be gold or other valuable mineral resources, I enjoy working the land to extract a small amount to help offset the enormous investment involved with such endeavors. And as far as Obamacare is concerned, I was forced to put my wife on this worthless healthcare "insurance." I was lucky to keep my existing plan which actually pays out benefits. We have paid tens of thousands of dollars into the "Affordable Healthcare Act" for my wife and have not collected a single penny in reimbursement despite visits to the hospital. Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah!
John and List, The good news is that people are being made aware of the problems facing meteorite hunters. You can only solve a problem by admitting there is one in the first place. I will never complain or be jealous about honest people who work hard and have a few things to show for it. Hard work is what built this nation. Sure, I complain about other things but I do something about it. If I want something, I will work 80 hours a week to get it. I once worked 14 years straight running a company without taking a single sick or vacation day off. I even brokered deals on the phone with sterile gauze in my mouth right after getting four wisdom teeth pulled without making any excuses. My idea of a vacation was presenting our US made products at a trade show in Las Vegas once a year. On the other hand, most of what I earn goes to others either in the way of being ripped off by people I once trusted, taxes or charity. I prefer charity. Most of those valuables you mention in warehouses were donated, seven truck loads this year alone. I enjoy meteorite hunting, just like I used to enjoy treasure hunting before it became overregulated. Hunting for meteorites is not cheap thus the proper equipment which happens to be expensive. Most successful hunters I read about have invested an enormous amount, if not in equipment, then in time. As far as land goes, this is my new career so I am keenly interested in it. Most invest in some form of retirement. I have no faith in 401Ks or Social Security so choose to invest in land for the time being. Happy hunting while you still can, Adam - Original Message - From: "John Lutzon" <j...@lutzon.com> To: "Raremeteorites" <raremeteori...@centurylink.net> Cc: <meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com> Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2016 4:06 PM Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah! What are American's supposed to eat, tofu? Most of the public land here in the southwest is open range and ranchers pay a cattle head tax in order to graze on it. If you want to keep cattle out, simply install a fence. As far as public drinking water goes, cattle should never be able to enter a reservoir used for drinking water. California should spend some of the cattle head tax on fences instead of non-native mantis shrimp and minnow studies. - Original Message - From: "Anne Black" <impact...@aol.com> To: <thetop...@aol.com>; <fisler...@msn.com> Cc: <meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com>; <raremeteori...@centurylink.net> Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2016 2:42 PM Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah! Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah!
Trailer parks have never been located on public land. It would defeat the purpose of public land letting just anybody build or put permanent structures up. I have nothing against people who were forced to live in trailer parks due to recent poor economic conditions. There are parts of Arizona and the entire southwest that now look like third world habitation centers. I never thought I would see the day, in the United States, that homeless people would be forced to live in cardboard box/tarp shelter cities out in the desert but they have been springing up everywhere. As far as illegal dumping goes, I agree that the laws on the books should be enforced. __ Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meteoritecentral and the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com https://pairlist3.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah!
If you haven't been out there in the 22 years since gold basin was found then tough luck. I think it's great. More land protected from trailer parks and trash dumps. The map of the Gold Butte National Monument that I saw on line, went from the border of the Lake Mead Recreational Park on the west, to the Arizona Border on the east and south, and almost to the the highway near Mesquite to the north. Re: [meteorite-list] Another Land Grab In Nevada And Utah!
Protected from what, citizens and non-citizens trying to enjoy the out-of-doors? If thieves want to get to the these archeological sites, remove dinosaur tracks or go after fossils, blocking roads will make it simpler for them. There will be nobody else around, since this land can no longer be used for recreational purposes, to watch over these treasures. All of the protection built into the great pyramids in Egypt did very little to stop looters. There is such thing as overregulation which usually results in the lose of freedom. I do not take it lightly when some idiotic bureaucrat takes these freedoms away. You can stick to paved roads but many of us prefer to actually enjoy public lands that were intended for public use by our forefathers. It will not be long before meteorite hunters are considered thieves due to the ridiculous 1906 Antiquities laws which were never intended to nationalize vast areas of land without any public input whatsoever. The meteorite collection weight limit on public land has now been reduced to Zero pounds.
