I haven't tested the 2.4.1-pre-software-opengl.exe any further after it didn't install correctly and gave blank windows. I just installed 2.4.1 from the download page on my laptop and can confirm it works fine so far for me. Have the same problem author described with 2.4. APPCRASH, signature looks identical. Tried to install 2.4.1, app loads without crashes, but screen is black. Again seems to be the same as others described. Hi, First make sure your Windows Update has all the latest patches. Also make sure your video card driver is as up-to-date as possible. In this version https://www.dropbox.com/s/uvtydcja8p4t25g/Mnemosyne-2.4.1-pre2-setup.exe?dl=0 I've added a new command line option "--qt-opengl" which can be set to either 'desktop', 'angle' or 'software', which you can play around with if you have display issues. (See e.g. http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/windows-requirements.html) You can try any of these combinations (although 'software' was the version that didn't work in the previous build), each one with or without the flag '--high-dpi-scaling'. To repeat how to launch Mnemosyne with command line options, create a shortcut of Mnemosyne.exe, right click to go to properties and edit 'target' to read something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mnemosyne\Mnemosyne.exe" --qt-opengl=desktop Another thing you might try is playing around with the ClearType settings under Windows and see if that makes a difference. Finally, PyQt version 4.8 is about to come out, which perhaps also makes a difference. However, if none of these things work, I'm not really sure there is anything more I can personally do about this... To give some background, Mnemosyne 2.4 switched from PyQt4 to PyQt5, which includes a whole new rendering backend and a new web widget (which is what we use to display your cards). With respect to your fonts changing, perhaps the font name you chose in PyQt4 gets interpreted as a different fallback font in PyQt5? You might try setting your font back and forth between a few options and see how it goes. I will when I get the chance. I'm also curious to know, and I don't know if you noticed in the two photos I uploaded In 2.4 with the fuzzy font, the Chinese character for the flash card is also displayed differently. I'm not changing any settings, just uninstalling/installing 2.3.6 or 2.4 over the top of my existing database. In 2.3.6 the Chinese character is displayed with the font i have set in Mnemosyne settings but with 2.4 the Chinese character is displayed differently as if the font is no longer being used. Is this related to the fuzzy problem or is it something different like settings? Hi, Try uninstalling Mnemosyne completely, then installing https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145, and then installing Mnemosyne again. What OS do you have? Note that older OSes like XP or Vista are no longer supported. The PC with the font problem was installed over a previous database but I haven't used that data base again as it won't work with the android app and crashes my phone. Let me confirm that I had a similar / identical problem on my Windows-7 machine after Mnemosyne 2.4 installation. Furthermore, I tried to investigate (via xampp/mercurymail/sqlite3.exe default.db, that seemed to be reasonable. Hi, For 2.4, we updated from PyQt4 (which is getting unsupported) to PyQt5, which includes a new rendering engine for high-resolution displays. If upgrading your display drivers and/or using '--high-dpi-scaling' as a command line option don't work, then hopefully a next version of PyQt will help. Perhaps this new version will also help with the hard crash you experience on startup on one of your machines, as this is happening deep inside a Qt library outside of my control. I've added screenshots for the fonts on the other PC. Can't really notice the difference unless looking at the photos full screen on a 1080p monitor. it actually looks worse than the photos show. Hi, Thanks for the detailed report, that helps me to see what exactly is going on. The error on first run is a bit scary, and is happening deep within the library Mnemosyne uses, so outside of my control. Since it only seems to happen the first time you run the program after installing, you might try to delete config.db from the Mnemosyne folder in Appdata and restarting (not uninstalling the program). If that doesn't work, try deleting the entire Mnemosyne folder in appdata (again not uninstalling). Hi, I understand your frustration, but in order to help you I need more details, e.g. 'doesn't work', does it always refer to the error message you posted earlier? What is the error message you get when uninstalling, deleting the Mnemosyne directory in the app data folder, and reinstalling to the default location? I'd like to figure out what is causing this, and perhaps I need to provide you with a special build which generates more debug information. Hi, What exactly do you mean by 'it doesnt work on C:/ or default'? Just uninstall all previous versions of Mnemosyne, start the installer and don't change anything to the path it suggests, and then start Mnemosyne without playing with command line arguments. On the laptop where installation is failing is Windows7x64 I just tried uninstalling and trying 2.3.6 instead but i get similar errors. I dont get the app crash but i get the file failed to load error, then a message about using a USB key and affected drive letters even though im just using default paths. Hi, In case of the blurry fonts, you should definitely try the command line option I mentioned in my other mail. With respect to the other error, make sure the OS is at least Windows 7. Also try completely uninstalling and then reinstalling. That is a fresh install on a different computer. Sorry for the confusion bad internet had resulted in me posting in wrong places. I just tried to take photo of the weird font but it actually looks fine through the camera. Whereas on the monitor with the eye it looks blurry. This only arose with 2.4. I just reinstalled 2.3.6 and the display window font(i.e the buttons for file,ccards,settings etc.) is fine. Hi, OK, so I assume you got your earlier problem fixed. Can you show a screenshot of the 'weird font'? OS is windows 7 x64. I updated from 2.3 on my windows 7 x64 desktop. Although that worked the display font of the program window (not the cards) is all wierd, even though it was fine under 2.3.
